Did your knee explode into a shower of blood again?  Either way, I prefer pain medication.  I usually go with Aleve for one off pains and Tylenol for extended pain.

Think of all the benefits you'll gain from not quitting - or of the disadvantages if you don't succeed.
Additionally, it may help if you define smaller goals inside your task. This way you'll get a small gratification (in your mind) once you reach one of those. That should help you keep going.
