I have received a copy of this... I don't remember ordering one, but I have it.  I wanted to open this up, but I will need to reserve any opinions until I actually manage to install and play it.  More on this later.

It looks to be awesome, but the only problem is the level 20 limit. In my opinion the old game failed because of two things; level and item exploitation, and the hide in plain sight and true sight spells. They needed to be completely revised.
Best would be if you had more classes and prestige classes, level limitation at 40 but the absolute item level limit at 20, and hide in plain sight being a skill-based hiding ability, meaning that just because you happen to have true sight you can't neccessarily spot someone who is HIPS:ing.

Rowne

Opposedly, I thought it succeeded for that reason and many others.  Primarily because of the user-created content, though.  Frankly, Penultima Rerolled is one of the best RPG campaigns (and possibly the best) I've played, ever.  Not to mention Elegia Eternum.  Gagne is made of pure awesome.

The only thing that really lost about the original was the main campaign, which sucked so badly.  So very badly.

In Neverwinter Nights II, the campaign is pretty good, it's made by the Planescape dudes so it would be.  The character-building is nice.

My overall opinion of it is that it takes steps forward in some areas and steps back in others.

Step Forward: You can now control your companions and have anyone in your party be controlled by the player.

Step Back: The camera has gone from being tight and FPS like to being loose and console platformer-ish.

Step Foward: There's now a minimap, yay!  Complete with flashing minimap markers, which is more bloody helpful than I could point out.

Step Back: It doesn't seem to be possible to set map notes.

Step Forward: There's a proper quest journal with journal tracking.

Step Back: It's impossible to drag two weapons onto the same quickslot for dual-wielding.

... and so on.

Thankfully, the most annoying issue, the camera, I was able to sort out with an nwnplayer.ini setting, which was something like CameraAlwaysFollow=1.  That made the camera all better.  A lot of the other problems still exist but hopefully they'll be patched out.

The new toolkit is a joy to behold and it's far, far more modifiable than the original NWN.  Perhaps the best part about the new modifications is that the UI can be modified.  That's something I'm really looking forward to and tempted to look into learning myself.

I kinda wish I got this instead of the raging bugfest that is Dark Messiah.  :B Oh well, I will get it soon enough. Probably after I go to MFF.

The final word on this: Disappointment.

This game could have been great, but it feels rushed... oh well.

I've been thinking about buying it. What do y'all say? I thought the trailer looked a-pretty good, but I can't go off that alone...

I would recommend it unless you have "disposable income".  If this will be your major game purchase for awhile then the money is best spent elsewhere.

Sounds like they went "Meh, this is boring, let's just finish this so we can start on the expansion"
