I guess...biting the thing that poked him. :/

Also, I spot a cameo.

Also, does anyone else find Fi's growling cuter than it probably should be?

Hehe, the hand placement on the shirt is funny. :B

"Glow rat?" Hmm, I guess Kria's circles don't run into many Warp-Aci or something. If most Warp-Aci are cooperative, I would think they would be useful to many creatures and beings. Must be a pretty good underlying cause for neither of them to have heard of one.

Oh, right, he's here to stop Dark Pegasus from being resurrected. Between that flash to Jyrras and Abel interacting, the slide show, Lorenda's issues with her mom, and Regina and Devin coming back in the space of three comics, I'd almost forgotten. No slight to you, Amber: it's just that the rest of it was a little more interesting in the short term than DP coming back.

I don't think Fa'Lina ever claimed to represent the entire race.  The closest that would be is the unidentified feline tri-wing succubus on the Council.  It's possible that this is Cyra of course.

However it raises an interesting point.  My immediate thought was that Devin saw Dan and thought 'Cubi' - which would mortify Daniel "not-a-cubi" Tifiona.  However I don't think he has... that makes me think two things:

A) Kria was expecting an envoy from the 'Cubi race (that she said 'Incubus-level hot' makes me think she hasn't recognised his race)

Or:

B) When Devin said "The 'Cubi" he was referring to Destania singularly, rather than the entire race.

Getting more far-out, it also occurs to me that if 'The 'Cubi' is a single person, they might be referring to DP's incubus enemy - in which case Dan might be an envoy of himself.

**EDIT**
And I love the way Fi reacts to being scritched there....

I really don't think he is a cyborg. Magic is more common than technology, yeah? I think his bones were damaged/missing by the time he became an undead and so A metalurgist was used to make new ones out of metal so he could actually function.

I'm not sure about that- we've seen undead before and they usually are in a state of decay, not tempered to hide it.

They do indeed Tapewolf. It really depends on how much money and connections one has. The average undead was once the average being...and most of them likely don't have heaps of finances to fling around for high-magic plating.

As for the representative comment, its more likely that Fi simply claimed to Devin that Dan was a representative because Fi forgot that Dan has an issue about others not wanting to know he is a Cubi. :3

Edit. This got me thinking.......

I still don't think that Dan is whomever Kria was expecting as an envoy. Refer back to Devin's line that "Kria has company over, so I'm making sandwiches", and he's making more than one or two. Unless people in DMFA eat far more per their body mass than huans do, he's preparing for some sort of party, and if they're expected, it's probably someone other than Dan expected to come knocking.

Of course, Devin might not know that, and might mistakenly assume along the lines of "I see a 'Cubi, and I know we're supposed to prepare for some large number of people coming over. Therefore, he is the leader of some group, and possibly an official representative." However, this line of thought has some problems, most notably that 'Cubi don't habitually eat. (Although how well that is known to non-'Cubi is unclear)

Anyway, it's something to chew over.

If Devin doesn't recognize a warp-aci when he sees one, does he know what they are?  Does Kria?

I dare say they all know Dan by reputation, at least.  Kria certainly does.

its been established that magic useres other then cubi find no reason to own warp aci, and probably have many reasons to shun them. combine this with the knowledge that only truly stupid cubi broadcast the fact that they are in fact cubi, and its somewhat evident that warp aci are both rare and those that are around are purposefully kept hidden

since they typically hang around the Cubi they're paired with, and my gathering that the instructors of SAIA primarily use them (Fa'Lina, Kittah, et al), i'd surmise that they don't get out all that much.

That was overly cute mascot (last panel) (http://www.missmab.com/Comics/Vol_188.php), not horrible cute. Then when Fi made its appearance, Pip got just a taste of its tail (http://www.missmab.com/Comics/Vol_423.php). I wonder if that missing bit of tail has any effect whatsoever on Fi's teleporting ability (like capacity, range or accuracy)? So far it doesn't seem so.

IIRC Fi's appearance (or 'form' ) is somehow bound to Dan.

I think the appearance is the same as when it was bound to Fa'Lina.

I think that the only thing that changes is the symbol on top of the "forehead", not overall shape.

About Fi, I have wondered, if Warp-Aci can change their shapes, why hasn't he just changed his tail to 'close' that part of his tail that got bitten off. I figure his tail might be a bit shorter or thinner if he does that, but if it bothers him so much, I can't imagine why he wouldn't...

O.o  You know, I don't think Fii is going to like being called a 'glowy rat thing' by the people around him <.<  Maybe that's just me, though >.>

I think it's more than the magic user that summoned them can change their shape. Dan could probably do it for Fi if he knew magic, but he doesn't.

get him a pair of fake ears on a headband so he can claim to be the easter bunny or some other animal besides 'glowy rat'

otherwise there's always the solution of shoving fi into a pet carrier, using him as a hat, or going to matildas store and get him a handy carrying device

I belive it was said Dan can change Fi's shape, He just doesn't care

I think it's more that the owner can influence the shape of the warp aci. But what do I know?

If Fi could just shape-change the damage away, don't you think it would have already? According to the bio, its vanity is bothered by that missing bit (no pun intended, but noticed) of tail.

So wait....

Does that mean Fi's a male?  I mean, I always suspected but I thought Fi wasn't supposed to have a sex....

it probably just has a slightly deeper voice, or generally masculine attitude. therefore it comes off as male, despite not physically being male.

haven't you ever had a parakeet or pet lizard whose gender you didn't know, but you sort of 'gave' it one based on what you thought it would be? i think fi is a bit like that. pronouns applied only for the sake of convenience.

As far as we've been informed, warp aci are sexless. Any gender identity applied to them would be due to personality traits

AFAIK, Amber always refers to Fi as 'it'.

But "They" is not a singular pronoun. "They" is gender neutral, but it is plural. Thus, referring to Fi as "They" is grammatically incorrect. So use "Him" as his personality seems to lean towards male, or use "It," which is gender neutral and singular.

That and Amber has apparently referred to Fi as "It," which is about as canon as you'll get.

You could conceivably call Fi "they" if it had a multiple personality disorder. :mowwink

We are the Fi. Lower your mind shields and surrender your forms. We will add your magical and biological distinctiveness to our own. Your existence will adapt to service us. Resistance is futile.

Wow, who knew that cute could be so dangerous?

Well, I have heard on different occasions, that " If neither 'He' nor 'She' ca be determined - and 'It' would be depreciative; 'They' is the way to go." in english.

So that's what I would use.
That or I'd just say 'Fi' instead. *shrugs*

Anyway:
Apparently Amber thinks 'It' is good enough, so... :rolleyes

"They" has been in use as a singular pronoun for more than a century. Thanks to all that political correctness stuff in the past decade or two, it's become the preferred gender neutral pronoun--both singular and plural.

Please update your grammar for the 21st century. :mowtongue
