I mean, Kria might have felt guilty about it... but why revive him as a cyborg? Why keep him around? Is it really Devin? And will Abel find out? Dang, Amber, you are good at doing this to us.
As for the immigration paperwork, I'm sure you'll do fine. And I'm sure that guard meant it would only take a week if you had all of your paperwork already... so he was probably crazy.

Well maybe I can say a little more. Cyborgs would have to be pretty advanced technology, especially for Demons and the like. It would take someone with Jy-Squeak's level of intelligence to craft something so technologically phat. Thus far, there hasn't been much of an indication past his giant mechas and patches that he'd be engaged in limb-replacement activities for people who died 300 years ago...but thus far, Regina hasn't been in the comic. So hey, qué será será.

As for why cyborg? It could be that his body was too damaged to be healed/repaired.

Actually, I have one more thing to say.
Amber is officially a genius storyteller. She is amazing to have set all of this up and planned it all so well, and to be able to completely blindside us so well and so often. I bow in respect to her, and wish to someday measure up to her. That is all.
I actually hypothesize that the creation of the undead was an attempt on the part of Dark Pegasus to one-up his sister. It's not so much that his experiment didn't go as planned that disappoints him, it's that he lost to his little sister.

I'm almost more surprised that the technology exists to let Devin live on as a cyborg than that Kria would opt to keep him around.
Although, I just checked a niggling suspicion that he'd be added to the cast page. A deader huh? Although that probably doesn't mean cyborg, but some sort of exposed, gold plated bone. Or maybe it's a reconstructed prostetic.

No surprise that Fi found the kitchen. Mildly surprising that he hasn't already broken into the alcohol, although Devin might have tried to stop him......
Do we know from anywhere how "fresh" a body has to be to be made undead? How long can they stay under the ground before they decay too badly to be reanimated? If Devin is listed as the fifth oldest undead, than that helps pin down when good old Aliph created them in the first place.

A bunch of you all are forgetting that Amber said that some undead remove their decaying flesh and replace it with metal. Kira is "Dark Pegasus" sibling and she does appear to have knowledge of Dark Pegasus's studies.
Reanimating Devin in my opinion would not be that difficult of a task to someone with talents I believe Kira has access to.
In short that could just be a simple undead with some of his marred flesh removed for gold implants.
He even has the black and yellow undead eyes.
Hmm. I went back and checked This strip (http://www.missmab.com/Comics/Abel_63.php). And while I could very easily be wrong, I don't see anything hitting Devin in the upper arms. The cast page confirms that his upper arms were damaged in an "incident" which doesn't seem to be the fight that killed him. I'm interested in knowing what it was.
I'm also rooting for Fi to panic for some reason and summon Abel :mwaha

I actually joined up here specifically for this current update (I've done an introductory post in The Villa which explains a little bit about who I am), although I've loved DMFA for months now.

I cannot believe I didn't see any of this coming, and I LOVE how Devin's appearance here fits together all the random pieces of the story: Kria hovering over Devin in Abel's Story (which I didn't pay as much attention to as I should have--I'm usually more perceptive than that), Aliph/Dark Pegasus being the creator of the undead race AND Kria's brother (both of which were introduced in this very chapter!), it's just so amazing!
I honestly consider this development to be on the level of Dan's finding out he was an incubus back in Chapter 14. It makes me excited to know where the story is going to go from here, and it makes my awe of Amber's talent (already impressive) rise through the roof! Well done, Amber Williams!
Incidentally, I'm not about to request this but it's something that occurred to me awhile back, and this only confirms it: IF Amber were to do another "backstory" comic, I would personally think Kria Soulstealer would be the most interesting character who appears in both DMFA and Abel's Story to have her backstory covered.

It sort of unravelled from there, and I later came to with a handy-dandy speculative flowchart of additional hidden DMFA character relations clutched in my hands. It is written in shaky near-unreadable script, with occult drawings and signs adorning the borders that makes me uneasy with their...Uh, whuh, what was I talking about? Oh, Drevin. Yeah, way cool twist that.
Anyway, much kudos to your foreshadowing and plot-crafting (and tying-together) skills. Thank you for making my otherwise plain day way more awesome.

That said, what an awesome and beautiful plot twist! Although it is a standard "Some guy we thought was dead is now alive again." at least there are easy indentifiable reasons for it, and it's very likely that there is more to this than meets the eye, leaving me wondering not so much HOW Devin is now alive again, but WHY.

It's gonna be an extremely interesting meeting if we get the three together though I can see Abel's facade of remaining emotionally dettached slipping very quickly.

Another option is that he offered to try and bring him back. He's about 300 years her senior, so it's not impossible he'd do such a thing as a gift to his 'baby sister'. That and the battle may have left her somewhat depressed.

I had a different line of thought. Aside from the people killed at the fort, before the adventurers arrive we know that there are six people present when Kria and group reveal themselves. Abel, Devin, Xander, Glory, and whatever her two compainions were named.
Abel we know survives.
Devin becomes the "Fifth oldest undead on record" Five adventurers, presumably all killed. Now look at this (http://www.missmab.com/Comics/Abel_69.php) comic. We don't see who Kria is talking to, but the shadowy figure's hand in the first panel looks a lot like Kria's in the second. The tone of their conversation seems to be that the shadowy figure is some sort of teacher or mentor.
My theory? DP is the one who organized that little outing, to gather bodies to create undead. Why else pick a fight with adventurers who were in the area? If your goal is to wreak havoc, you'd want to avoid the group of people who miht be able to fight back, not deliberately target them.
so wait, is devin a techno zombie, or just an average undead with an upgrade...or is it a look a like or what.

This was, for all intents and purposes, my reaction. Aside from the squee of doom. Unlike
some people, I don't squee. :P My reaction was more of a "GASP!" (and yes, I think I might've actually said "GASP!"; it's hard to remember, what with the revelation dawning upon me that Devin was kinda sorta alive).

my thoughts on why Devin got reanimated
First off Kria probably didn't know he was at first, and I don't think DP was involved in the attack. After the whole thing was over she goes home and tells her brother about it. DP gets a thought... "Ohh fresh bodies and I don't even need a shovel." and runs off gathering up the remains for experimentation. At some later date Kria spots Zombie Devin while she's visiting her brother. (I picture her double taking as she walks past the bathroom to see devin plunger in hand trying to unclog the toilet) She starts to feel a pang of regret... or nostalgia for her favorite student and then askes her brother for the zombie as a keep sake

Probably me being silly, but the initials sound rather like the exclamation "Dur!" Devin might be sarcastic enough to say that, methink. xP

Ten bucks says that Hannah will be in an urn on the mantle a couple comics from now.
But, in all seriousness, this has definitely elevated the arc to the honor of being the best of all. So many wonderful twists, character development, and great artistry have all reminded me of why this is my favorite comic.

Well, after comparing the shadow hand in Abel's Story that belongs to the mysterious teacher/instructor type person that Kria is with to DP's hand, and just looking at the tone of each one's dialogue, I have come to the conclusion that they are most likely one and the same. Perhaps it is another, and thus far unknown, family member, though.

Actually, his face is a little diffrence. You can't really see it in the comic, but on his cast page Devin has a square-chin, while in Abel's story it was pointed. That, and, his face is thiner and kind of looks sunken-in...pro'lly due to the entire death thing.

I wouldn't read too much into that. Amber seems to use a slightly different style for many of the cast pictures. Coloured outlines for one, but there are slight design differences too. Compare Abel's cast picture with his appearance in-strip, for example.

I think I pointed out before that it's Chekhov's Gun (or Gunman, whatever). You don't bring people back unless you plan to use them.

Eh with the amount of shapshifters in the furrea world I wouldn't take shap of hand as a definitive proof of anything but eh maybe I'm wrong on that part it still doesn't invalidate my other speculation. that at the time of devins resurrection kria didn't know and asked her brother for the zombie at a later date as a remembrance of Able

I saw the comic last night before bed and totally didn't realize that was Devin!(I had taken 3 times the prescribed amount of narcotic cough suppressant then I was supposed to two tablespoons as apposed to two teaspoons, So I was a little loopy hehe)

What the heck is a "Second Aunt" and "Second Uncle"H My mother is very into genology and can track my family back at least 15 generations on both sides, but she has never heared this term before.. I can only assume that its a Grand Uncle/Aunt or Great Grand Aunt/Uncle perhaps...

In any case, Abel's sure to find out about Devin (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/ptitle54psy2mkt9lx?from=Main.ChekhovsGunman), so this should prove to be the sort of thing that unsettles Abel. Unless he already knows about it.
Abel can't know about it since he has refused to leave SAIA since after Devin and his loved ones were killed.
Also, this is likely a building tension between Dan/Regina and Abel/Devin. There will inevitably be a climax which will be be both epic and hilarious. If Amber was one to flip around, Fi met devin, but might not tell him, since he bears more of an attachment to Dan then Abel. Dan might meet Devin, and not tell Abel, thinking that Abel wouldn't care about an undead houseservant in Kria's home. Maybe either Fi or Dan will bring up mention of his name, tossing a bomb into the stagnance brought on by the DP anticlimax. Or maybe mentioning of Kria... Has Abel seen Kria since he left SAIA? He sees Kria: OMG! He sees Devin: OMFG! He sees the both of them have been close together the entire time he's been torturing newbies at SAIA: OMFGWTFFBBFQ! *pass out by heart attack, leads to hilarious situation where either Dan, Kria, or Devin performs CPR upon his regain of conciousness* The Dan/Regina will come first, most likely, since we know of the fuse on that bomb, but seeing what the dilly-o is about this until recently unknown Regina will likely be the focus of our suspension of disbelief.
Well, Abel may have talked to some people who told him about Devin's continued existence.
and we do know that non cubi visit saia so it could be possible that Kria has been there too
Something else has just occurred to me....

I doubt very much that this has any direct bearing on Devin's current condition--meaning I don't think that his mother saying that had anything to do with the existence of the undead, but in light of the fact that he now IS undead it's an interesting thing to think about.
Then again, maybe that would have been better served when he actually did die, in Abel's story....

I'd been pondering this question myself--if she's given official word, please direct me to it (I don't think she has, though), but I don't see any reason for him to know. He's been at SAIA all this time and doesn't know much about the outside world, plus I don't think Kria has anything to do with SAIA, at least not directly. She's a demon-mare, not a succubus.

My thinking currently is that Amber more or less has to effect a reunion between the two at some point--just when that point will be is up to her, and while I personally (as I'm sure most fans would agree) would prefer that to happen sooner rather than later, it wouldn't surprise me a bit of Amber kept the carrot dangling above our heads for awhile--I don't know if she'd stoop to the idea of having them keep missing each other while nevertheless being in the same space, but since they're not IN the same space at present I doubt that'll come up anyway.
However, I do want to see the two of them meet and I do ponder what might happen--as I said before, I doubt Abel knows Devin has been brought back from the dead and would LOVE to see his reaction...but at the same time I don't know how much Devin remembers (or knows?) about his past, so I don't know if he'd remember Abel....
At any rate, if Abel at least learns that Devin is still around, it might give him incentive to do more than simply stay holed up in the basement only coming out to tutor Dan and do other things he's asked, or for his own personal reasons.
Whatever happens, I consider the introduction of Devin to be a turning point in the comic, comparable to Dan learning he was an incubus back in Chapter 14....

Abel's instructions to Fi were "come and get me if Dan does anything dangerous".
Of course, Fi has proven most ... distractable.
I think it depends on Abel actually asking for a recount of events, and even then "I wandered off to the kitchen and met this nice undead who made me a sandwich" isn't likely to make it into the story.
And if I were Dan, I'd be organizing a trip to DP's grave as soon as I finished paying Kria and got home. Abel's likely to be asking for the "what's been going on" from Dan, rather than Fi.
