Similarly, "strained" and "banned" end with the same sound, and can be considered to rhyme. I can't remember the exact term for it (which is bugging me), but I did learn it in school at one point. Heck, it might even be called "strained rhyming" for all I know.

Jairus is banned because it still took Zero two(three? I can't remember) shots to open it up.
VSMIT is banned because it did indeed take three shots, and Wing Zero Endless Custom (it's what I call it) was damaged until it was little more than a torso and chest. It was still incredibly awesome.
Jairus is banned because I don't understand how a weapon that could destroy an entire colony with ONE shot still had to take three to open up an armored bunker.
VSMIT is banned because I see three reasons. 1) The bunker might have been designed to handle a shot from a buster rifle, but they did not anticipate that Heero would be willing to cut through. 2) A space colony is spinning in order to generate centrifugal force to simulate gravity, and it's dependent on its structural integrity to stay together while doing that: damage the integrity enough (like shoot out the core of the colony with the Buster Rifle or Twin Buster Rifle) and the centripetal force would be sufficient to cause the colony to actually tear itself apart. 3) Dramatic tension.
I think that while reason #3 is the real reason, reason #2 is one that was either given in-series or was discussed by people who actually study engineering and physics who watch these shows. I think that a colony in Gundam SEED was destroyed the same way: they did enough damage to the colony's structure that it's integrity failed and it shredded itself.
