although, if i recall correctly the alcorn from a unicorn fetches quite a high price. not just the horns, but the hooves too.... maybe we have not seen unicorns because they have been hunted to lower numbers or are in protective services to hide them as other creatures.... for all we know pip might be one, or the random potted plant i think ive seen at lost lake once, sneaky disguise

There could be anything from Bunyip and Yowie to Jackalope and Chupacabra

I believe the philosophical argument is that if unicorns are only attracted to virgins they could not sustain a sizeable population, all classical works claim that unicorns ONLY come to virgins thus it is implied that they are incapable of having multiple unions.

Pretty much that unicorns aren't anything special on Furrae.

There is a lot of variety on Furrae...even within the Being class, like the psychologist Jackalope, and the Giraffe-taur from the Mall Arc...

Heh, anyways, yeah, honestly though, I'm more curious about how some of the halfbreeds work other then cubi...

And I pray Fae as a whole are sterile, because a half fae would = end of all of existence...

But yeah, thinking more half-weres...  half angels..  you know...  the races that probably wouldn't completely take ones blood over like a Cubi would

I think Amber's said that you can't have half-Fae.  It stands to reason as their souls - if they can be called such - work in a different and incompatible way to other Creatures, and Beings.  I suspect that if it's possible to interbreed with them at all, you'll end up with something other than a Fae, e.g. a Being if the Mab - Merlitz thing from the earliest strips had borne fruit.

QuoteBut yeah, thinking more half-weres...  half angels..  you know...  the races that probably wouldn't completely take ones blood over like a Cubi would
Half-Weres are something I've been curious about too, but I have no answers.  You can have part-demons like Lorenda, so at a guess, I'd imagine a part-Angel is also quite possible.

If we need the boomsticks, then it's already too late. The racket of the chainsaws should deter them from even getting in the door, without having to worry about breaking the furniture.

I'm fairly certain Amber's gone on record as saying in DMFA lore there is no half this half that. You either are or you aren't. The only exception to this being seperate species themselves. The demons, fae, etc, all seem to fall into a subclass that's tacked onto said species. Otherwise all the cubi, fae, and demons would all look the same.

Not that being a half-angel is really all that amazing.  Most half-breeds tend to be watered down versions of the more powerful race.  I don't think there is any pairing that would result in a half-breed that is stronger or more powerful than the parents.

Then again, that might be my cynical side kicking in. :3

Don't give anyone the chance to justify any of that retarded 'Duuurrr I'm pwoerfulz lawl' bs. Characters like M'Lady (http://www.elfonlyinn.net/lady.html), as much as I love the comic and all the characters, are completely fucking moronic. They're indecisive to a rediculous fault and I HATE giving them any ability to justify their own inadequacies.

Not that I'm saying all 'halfs' are bad. I've seen many Many good ones. It's just specifically the 'Duuurr I have all the strengths and none of the weaknesses' and the M'Lady's that take it too freaking far. Ones like Lorenda are completely fucking awesome and I absolutely love them.

[There's also the story someone wrote - his name's on the tip of my tongue, I swear - about someone attempting to trap a (male) unicorn with a young girl.

As he puts it, "If they'd used a young -boy- I might have been caught. After all, I'm gay..." ;-]

I've got a great older picture titaled "Why Maidens are safe from Unicorns"

Lets just say the hero was painfully suprised

Not that being a half-angel is really all that amazing.  Most half-breeds tend to be watered down versions of the more powerful race.  I don't think there is any pairing that would result in a half-breed that is stronger or more powerful than the parents.

Then again, that might be my cynical side kicking in. :3

Well there is the tenacity of a mutt
My best dog Zues was amutt from dog breeds not known for there intelegance but he was brilliant

I remember one time my dad wqas sick and Zues was hungery so he brought his bowl to dad.  then he brought up a can of soup, and then went down one more time to bring up the can opener

The right awakening rituals and experience could help though.

Doesn't that basically mean cubi are weaker than angels and demons?

It's only a rumour that Cubi came from Angels/Demons.  In many ways that many beliefs have creation stories.

However, in terms of scale...yes. The average Cubi is going to be much weaker than the average angel or demon.  If one was to go by Abel Story reference, even Kria with much less experience would likely have been able to wipe the floor with Aniz.  However, the most powerful Cubi are stronger than the most powerful Demons/Angels...so it kind of evens out.

Ah, the spell singer series. :3

The author is still releasing the occasional book for it, though I think he's focusing more on his Commonwealth universe.

That series has to be one of the first strongly "furry" works I'd experienced (saturday morning cartoons excepted)

I have to admit, I had a sort of a crush on Roseroar for a bit.   :blush

Isn't that what Fae are?

Completely unkillable by even the most powerful of 'Cubi, and can basically do whatever they want to do.

Dragons might be closer to the mark, since from Abel's reaction to Pyroduck, they can actually die, whereas with Fae it's a bit more optional.

Exactly, they are the overpowering control, weeding whatever needs weeding, sort of like humans and your garden!
Powerful enough that no plant(humor me) can kill you, and able to do whatever is needed to make your area of the world exactly as you want it, more or less.

Of course, as Fae can travel back and forth through time, they can edit things as needed to prevent things from coming to pass; instead of having to kill a powerful overlord, the Fae could simply go back in time and make sure that the bad guy simply never existed, or influence him/her early on to take whatever path you want this being to go.

However, this doesn't mean that other creatures don't contribute to the food chain, but one of a few Fae could change anything as needed.

Where does Dan fit into this then?  He was able to kill Dark Pegasus, not once but twice, and that is before his cubi powers came in.  In addition to that, Dark Pegasus is 760 so I would assume that he is far more experienced than Kria in Abel's story, who is 43.  It just has me confused.

You can't classify everything by 'who's stronger'. Special skills and unique situations come into play quite often. Another comic I read had a line about why sometimes the weaker will still come out on top. Rather then describe it here's a link (http://goblinscomic.com/d/20071107.html)

I think this would more then likely hold true in Amber's world as well.

I read Goblins as well.  Other factors would be if they are trying to kill each other, knock the other out, disable the other person, or if one wants to kill but the other one doesn't.

I was asking who would win in a fair fight.

Even then it could still come down to variables. You could stick them in a huge white room with nothing what so ever but them and the walls and the fight could hinge on a lucky shot. True in that instance the most powerful would have the advantage, but then other things could still come into play. As Abel's pointed out, alot of cubi tend to be rather over confident and cocky (Aaryanna) underestimating your opponent just because you think you're going to win can throw things in their favor. Heck I've had times in WoW where I've done the same thing. 69 warlock, heavily geared and demonology spec with a branch into affliction. I do serious damage as does my pet, it usually takes something my level or higher to take me down. However there's been a few times where I haven't fought up to my full potential because my enemy was some 63 rogue or the like and as a result they wound up getting the upper hand and beating me before I knew what hit me.

If we're just talking straight power then yeah 'This is stronger then that, this is more powerful then that' but you can't guage who'd win in a fight without actually having the fight.

If dragons went the way of religion, I'm there are some Demon lords and Archangels out there that could tear cubi to shreds.  Having a demon army held together by overwhelming fear and bloodlust also helps.  If there are as many Fae as Amber says there are, I'm sure there are more than a few million demons out there, if not billions.

different universe hold different rules. after all according to the DBZ universe you don't need to have all the power of a universe to destroy it and just because you have all the power of a universe does not mean you'll win a fight against some one with more skill and better luck.
