Title: 10/29/07 [DMFA #837] - Tim McCarver is a terrible commentator
Post by: Fragmaster01 on October 28, 2007, 10:45:17 PM
And Mab proves her plan to be in line with the forumites ideas.
In other news, hell is freezing over. More on this at 11.

This scene also reveals a possible ulterior motive.  She states that she looks forward to having Jyrras resolve his emotional problems so that he can get back to work.  That suggests that Jyrras's work in his laboratory is part of her plan.  The wheels within wheels turn slowly but grind exceedingly fine.

Edit:

I thought the group you never expected was the Spanish Inquisition.

Everyone needs protection from them.

Also, glad to see it's simply to protect Jyrras, and make him get back to work.

Also, Mab reminds me of the babe.

Jyrras is a catalyst sought after by both sides, whichever they may be? (Remember, evil and darkness, not always on the same team...)

That's how I'm reading it, anyway.

what do you know Mab is a smart girl.  Have a high ranking Fae 'curse' Jyrras so that he has a level of protection from creatures, OK high level of protection due to Albiaon's position on the creature council.

That allows him to go to work with doing the thing he loves, making tech in his hidden lab.

For a seemingly simple girl that plan has many complex and detailed parts.
This only proves that Mab is not just your average bubbly character, she's smart, cunning and has much forethought in a given situation.

Well the Demonology 101 does say that Fae will do a sort of 'Role Play' since they live so long. It could be safe to assume that Mab's playing the role of the cute, bubbly Fae.

Oh, my goodness gracious!  Who would have thought our adorable little Mab could be so devious?  And I wonder what projects Jy is working on that Mab is referring to by her "Get back to work" statement.  Could it be something to do with Death Bringer (Remember Deebs, everyone?)?

I think that Mab exterminating the group that currently includes the guys whose names are included in the two main comic titles (DMFA + Abel's Story) would make people shut up for more than just a day or two ;)

Buuuuuut... Dan could be reborn through Dark Magic and return to seek vengeance upon Mab, who woukld by then be revelling in her ebil and ruling with pwnage due to her confiscating Jyrras' magically-run mega-weapons of DOOM!!!

Dan, with his mighty spirit sword imbued the power of all the slain Cubi souls would trounce Mab in a climactic battle the likes of which are so grand and magnificent they could never be animated even with the most advanced CG imaginable!

And then the world would explodiate and the comic would turn into something about human workers with bad managers, thus ensuring huge ratings.  The End!  :3

perhaps suggesting DMFA updates Mondays, mikelo on Wednesdays, apartment complexity on Fridays, and abels story probably ending to take some of the load off.... eh, makes sense but would be a little confusing.

on the note of dan having to defeat mab and the fae... part of the charm of DMFA is that nobody really has power. the fae and demons and whatnot may be powerful but theyre still people and such. dan is not a level whatever paladin, jyjy does not do 12 D6 damage with his gatling guns, and all the bad guys know that blowing up the world means your bored for a very long time.  perhaps though finding a loophole, like finding out a common household item repels fae or finding a way to seal them in bottles or whatnot- i could not imagine dan swording mabb, but i could see him cram her into a bottle and shake it like a all hell

Get back to work?

Given the main thing Mab has personally contributed to in his lab is the patchs, one could assume that this is that Mab refers too. Alternatively, if one considers the natural abilities of Fae, it could also refer to "technological" weapons which Fae supposedly has least power over..

Going back to the strip for a moment, can anyone make out Rose's expression in that last panel? Her "invisible" mouth is right on top of the edge of the wall and hedge behind her, so I can't tell if she's looking thoughtful or smirking mischievously at the prospect of "causing trouble".

10 *holds up ten fingers* internets to the first person who correctly identifies the original movie for the headbar of this comic!  I'll include it below, for if it changes before anyone guesses it
'Dance magic, dance magic.  Jump magic, jump magic"

That's going to be Labyrinth.  Curiously I came across the following while digging up some obsolete code:

//
//  What kind of magic spell to use?
//

//#define USE_DLMALLOC_SBRK         // Fast on EVC3, broken on EVC4, trim totally broken on CE
//#define USE_JOES_F***ED_SBRK      // You don't want to know
#define USE_STOLEN_PERL_SBRK      // Very, very fast, works in EVC4 but doesn't trim

**EDIT**

I hasten to add that this code isn't being used anymore.  And we did ask the author of the Perl-CE port if we could use his sbrk() implementation :3

...and now we are very, very offtopic.

Good. That would shut up the "all cubi all the time" crowd for a day or two.

:rolleyes

Or maybe it would just make us send even more flaming hot emails to Amber, and cause a lot more angry posts to appear.

In other news, I want SOULS!  :eager :cvsoul

You'll have them.  When we've finished with the vault you can tear the whole place apart looking for them - until then we do not alter the plan.

Perhaps I shouldn't have done that...

Now to test your knowledge of wonderful movies!
10 *holds up ten fingers* internets to the first person who correctly identifies the original movie for the headbar of this comic!  I'll include it below, for if it changes before anyone guesses it
'Dance magic, dance magic.  Jump magic, jump magic"

Ooh!  Ooh!  I know!  I know!  Is it The Bachelor and the Bobby Soxer (http://www.carygrant.net/wavs/bachelor/bbsoxgreetLG.wav)?

(Also, that part of the chorus is properly ``Dance, magic dance!  Jump, magic jump!'')

And that's the problem with having a head full of movie quotes... they tend to come out again.

I don't mind having a head full of movie quotes, just as long as they aren't all Monty Python.

Actually, there is another quote from that movie that would  be appropriate to DMFA.

"You can't handle the truth"

In this case, the truth would be what's really going to happen.

Mabey my eyes are extra good today, but the comic looks extra nicely drawn with the Mab in the second pannel, and the see through rose effect!
