Between the two I think that both have the perfect little floating companion. Mab's sweet and could use a little sower. Dan's just warped and he can now go anywhere he wants. Bars, villians and Ale beware.

Not really, unless you count the sword. The rest have reasonably close relations, are living in the same place, or both. And Matilda has only been with Dan twice either way.

I'm mostly hoping against this because the comic already focuses almost completely on Dan by now. Him being a Cubi triggered a few arcs (including the currently longest arc in DMFA history, if I did the math correctly), so adding some sort of conspiracy to it would only ensure even more spotlight for him.
Yes, there are various hints (some of them dating back like whoa, I believe), but I honestly hope that they will only come crashing down once a few side characters get the time for their personal issues (the various love interests of Jyrras, Wildy's view of herself in relation to the others, Lorenda's potential relationship to the guy who let her live with him... stuff like that).

High and powerful could just mean powerful in general, and tentacles having heads does not mean that the clan is numberous. (Falina is the last of her clan, but her tentacles have heads too.) (We know that Dan is at least of reasonable power, seeing that he could return from near death just by feeding on pain energies.)

Just because Abel doesn't want to do it doesn't mean that he doesn't think that it should be done. Conversely, just because he's reporting in doesn't mean that he thinks it's a good idea. Where the one side of the 50 where they DON'T see Merlitz is if Alexsi gets out of there in 5 seconds and meets up with the rescue party before they can cover any ground. It's possible, I swear...
Then they go back early and Alexi sees herself (Dan) talking to the reporters. And even more violence happens. :mowtongue
I think along the journey through Twinks territority I think they will bump in to Merlitz. who knows maybe we get another angry Merlitz angry face for the strip.
