Queen and Final Fantasy references, Dan and Abel slooking as good as usual- if anything, this comic proves how much Amber has improved under Canada's Socialist system :D
On a mroe comic-y note: is it just me, or has Dan done something with his hair?
*Points at the title of this thread*
Innuendo!
Also...
QuoteEh. It's annoying... But I've had to do a few adventures in a dress...
You mean besides the twink territories there was others?!
Well, Dan seems to be at the mercy of the Amber, who dictates that him in a dress = humour (and rightfully so).
Hmm, Final Fantasy references, eh? It's been ages since I've played VII... but I'm pretty sure I know what you mean. What with the dress and the Cloud-esque sword and all.
I'm forseeing this whole arc to be a parody of Disc 1 of FFVII...
Will Dan have to do squats with the gay musclemen to get a 'Lexi wig?
With special guest appearances from Don Corneo as a reporter.
And Wildy as.....Well..No...I think she hated that game...Not sure though maybe a Yuffie....
Wildy wouldn't have hated the game. She obviously has an appreciation for video games, and IIRC, FFVII is a contender for the title of "Best Video Game Ever", according to some.
I liked it mainly cause it was fun....

How the hell does Dan sneak a sword around in a dress like that? That must take some serious skill. And how likely will Dan talk Abel into masquerading as Merlitz for the moment?

It's Dan. That does seem to be a specialty of his. The hiding swords part, not the dress part... I hope...
And since Abel doesn't seem to hate Merlitz, I predict he'll go along with the idea... though not without complaint. Never without complaint.
I was waiting to see if THAT reference would pop up in this eventually >.>

Dan has a large room full of big swords, and lots of years of training in how to use them. And incubi wing pseudopodia.

Yes. You need to say that Cloud could do it, while Aeris (or Aerith for you purists) could smuggle that staff in on her person.
Great comic as always, Mabbess.

Sorry but thats been done once...But you never got to see it and the lense cap was on....And the picture never showed showed
Interesting view of Dan's head, there. I'm not sure why Abel is so freaked - he can do much better sword-hiding tricks. Or maybe he's just horrified that Dan and Alexsi can do it without using magic in the conventional way.

against opponents your own size with soft skin, that might be true, but against opponents three times as big as you are, or with rock-hard skins, I higlhly doubt you'd do any real damage with a rapier-like sword.
besides, a sword that big can only be blocked with other heavy weapons, any small weapon that stood in its way would likely break and then the sword would hit him really hard. and if you've ever seen berserk you know what an excellent shield large swords make
:redface Umm... is it wrong for me to have a crush on :mowdan ielle? Because I think I just developed a huge one from his (her?) love of huge weapons.
Also, wouldn't it hurt walking around in a dress with such a huge sword in it? You'd be likely to slice yourself or the dress apart. Wait... :mwaha
Final Fantasy seven strikes again! Whoot!
You know, FF7 isn't the only guy-in-a-dress reference to go from... Especially since this one doesn't actually have anything to do with the FF7 occurence >_>
Well, besides RHPS and FFVII, what are other noteable cases of crossdressing?
... On second thought, maybe I don't want to know...
Flea of Chrono Trigger, the first video game transvestite.
And this was an FF7 reference, Aridas. Don't know of anyone else who uses a buster sword like that.
*sighs* FF 7 was one of my least favorite of the Final Fantasy series, right down there with 8 and 9, but not quite low enough to compete with Mystic Quest as far as the worst FF title. However, I admit, this was a fairly good FF VII reference. I didn't much like that particular part of the game, but it's one of those things which you just can't ever forget, no matter how hard you try.
And yes, it had to have been a deliberate FF VII reference. Just look at the sword.

Hm...I should wear dresses more often... XD
This'll probably lead to another useful Cubi lesson from Abel...in order to pass for Alexsi he will have to hide his wings.

any of the Final Fantasy games, so don't feel bad; I don't know what theyr'e talking about either.
As for Dan's sword, I percieve it is overkill, but what do I know? I can just see Abel acting like a jerk, and Dan smacking him upside the head in reprimand when they would be alone.
I played 3/4 of FF7 and loved it. The reason only 3/4, well I got the PC version free from a friend who could never get it to run well on his, and the game would lock up on the 3rd disk. It was the game that got me into RPGs in the first place, having only really played action games and a little RTS previous to that. FF7 is to date the only FF game I have ever played. The combat system in FF games in general is sub par, but FF7 was first and foremost an interactive epic sci-fi/fantasy novel. The story and the world are what defined the game, not the combat system. Back on topic though...
Amber is clearly conspiring to attempt make us stalwart straight males gay, or at least metrosexual. It is a full on assault on the senses. Oooh look at the fuzzy kitty people. Aren't they cute? Don't you want to hug them? Let me put them in dresses. That better? You can do it. BZZZZT HAHAHA GOT YOU! YOU CUDDLED A MAN! I WIN!

If Dan had just accepted his 'cubi side earlier, he wouldn't have to go through the cross-dressing part... he could just work some magic with his tentacles, and you have instaAlexsi! With much less entertainment value, granted.

It is utilized by all FF characters (to the best of my knowledge). And you people really need to grow up about the FF7 bashing. There have been less enjoyable RPGs out there, and the game still brought plenty of interesting stuff to the RPG world. Also, FF7 Cid has been the best incarnation of Cid ever.

As I'm used to it from El Goonish Shive, no I didn't... for the hammer space that I'm used to, Dan wouldn't be able to access it because he is only masquerading as a female, not truly female. I'm not sure how it's used in FF, but that'd make sense... but this is still DMFA. It's been too long since I read through the archives, so I don't remember how it works here.

Out of curiosity, what did you consider the best Final Fantasy?
AND, to keep somewhat on topic, I'd better add that I love Dan's smile in the final panel.
FF VI (That would be 3 for those of us who owned an SNES) is my #1 fav FF title, with IV (2 for us geezers) behind it, and the original 8-bit NES FF is tied with X for 3rd place.
And VI wasn't depressing, it had an actual villan instead of a whiny emo gothboy whose main attack form was Fanservice. Then again, since the hero of VII was another whiny emo with a Napeolian complex and a very unhealthy obsession on one of the other party members, I suppose that was all they could realistically stand against.
[old geezer voice]Now back in my day, we had bad guys who would blow up the world, not just try. An' they had big freekin' lasers to destroy villages on a whim, too. We didn't have no Omnislash or Quatra-summon KOTR to take him down in one hit, either. No, but He sure had Fallen One and N. Cross to take out the party in one combo if'n you weren't careful. Back when villans were villans, and heros were heros... you young whippersnappers just wouldn't understand[/old geezer voice]
And to try and keep on topic, I think Dan was grinning at freaking out Abel as much as anything, although perhaps considering what that sword would do to Abel might have crossed his thoughts once or twice...
As I may be keep the task at hand...Has anyone noticed the color of Dans mascaria change color?

I dunno, I think seeing one of your main character's entire family get onto the Death Train, just as you celebrate your "victory" over it is pretty depressing. >.> Not to mention at the start of the game, your main character's two friends die. Just to name a few. :3
And the reason I mention the depressing factor, is I had a friend who kept going on about how "depressing" FFVII was.
V was more depressing :cry
i never plaid 5 or 6 but i liked 4 7 and what i plade of nine. i never got my disko fo 8 to play and 9 mess up as well i'm sorry to say.
*Charles duhhhhhhhh* What's Final Fantasy? *is killed instantly*
Heh, I haven't played any games at all in years. The last was Marvel vs Capcom II. :P
And then there's those of us who play very, very little final fantasy other than the original, 10, and 10-2.
OhmygodscaryJenovaswitnessesnotintheFACE!
:U a Final Fantasy discussion!
I liked... 1,4,5,6,7,9, and X-2
8 I didn't much care for the combat system due to the entire draw and junction system... never the less, I got pretty far, but still...
6 has to remain my favorite for sheer size of game and, for then, phenominal graphics.
I felt 9 to be a triumphant return to the 'roots' of final fantasy, especially after 8.
I liked X2 because of the return of job classes and open endedness (compared to X, which was more or less an interactive movie aside from a couple side quests)
These are, of course, personal opinions, and I'd be happy to discuss, in further detail, many of these points. I would be happy to discuss them in PMs, that is (unless everyone asks the same thing!)
Final Fantasy is just one of those things that is guaranteed to horribly derail a topic. With a hammer. And on most boards I'd expect a flame war to erupt over disagreeing opinions.
As such, I refuse to tell which ones I've played and which ones I liked! HA!

I really need to throw that disk into the PS2 and finish my game ^_^'
What was the topic again? figuring how large a sword Dan can hide while wearing a skirt?
I he could probably smuggle anything as long as his leg so long as he doesn't take too large of strides.
1, 4,7,9 are the ones i remember playing.
Ack! enough with the final fantasy talk and GET BACK ON ZE TOPIC!!!
no problem but i have to wonder. is Dan going to hide a sword in his dress this time? and where does Alexei Keep that hammer of hers? it's as big as she is! and shes not that conservatively dressed form whats i can see.
Yeah you have to remember he will be a woman thanks to Abel. If the sword goes under his dress then he has to be very caerful for the loins........................ :laugh :laugh
I know, no more Final Fantasy references, but I found this: http://www.missmab.com/Comics/Vol_083.php Don't let Amber look at it: It might throw her into convulsions. :mowtongue :mowdizzy
And somehow I doubt that Abel's going to let him carry the sword, for... various reasons. :P
it is a FF7 reference and all as it says( thanks to mike cameo) with the same result. still Amber's art back then out strips my art of now. i would if i could take here ins a ceramist contest as that is my favored art field.
Regardless it's very funny as hell man I can't wait for Dan to transform completly to a woman *ta-da*............
now now don't frighten the poor boy.
Ohhhhhhhh I wnat to have some fun please please...... :mowsad
