I somehow doubt Abel is going to disagree dressing up like a girl on moral grounds. This is a case of him doing a favor for a friend for a day or so, as compared to pretending your entire life to be something you're not. He'll probably end up dressing up poorly as Merlitz anyways and bank on the fact that the reporters don't know what Merlitz of Lost Lake looks like anyways.

About a year ago, I did, pretty much word-for-word. It's more-or-less just key scenes now, except for the storylines which I liked best or found fascinating.

AGAIN. the whole 'cubi acadamy thing was bad enough, but this is past funny and ridiculous and bordering on obscene. i mean, just because the artist of the comic is a female doesn't mean the male characters should be the consistant butt of every joke or humiliating incident in the entire fragging series......between Dan and Jyrras, just about the entire comic has become the oh-so-witty or cute females making the males look like imbiciles, whether they be physically-oriented adventurers, or incredibly proficient, intelligent scientists. While I like amber's art, and have generally enhoyed her comic, she REALLY needs to let up on the male-bashing, it's getting old.

You're the first person I remember to complain about that. I don't see it happening in Abel's Story, or with Abel in the mainline either. Mainly it's because Dan is the protagonist and if he lead a totally charmed life we'd be complaining about that instead.
In essence I agree with your first point - it would be nice to see Dan go on a quest again. I think the last one they did was the "let's go kill something" arc where they discovered Aaryanna. Going to the shops doesn't really count. >:3
Now, a couple of extra points about the current strip. Firstly, Wildy's chest fluff is kind of cute.
Secondly, and more importantly, Wildy's ploy won't work.
Yes, Dan could hide his backwings with the Power. If he can't change colour, he could dye his hair. If he can't add breasts, he could stuff something down his shirt. he might even be able to change his voice, but that won't be enough unless he knows how to imitate female body-language.
In 'Return of the Jedi' for instance, my father was able to guess that the bounty hunter was Leia because he was walking like a woman. The reporters are going to pick up on that. With a couple of months training it's possible to learn how to do this as an actor, but he has maybe two hours, and given his disdain for the original Biggs ploy, I doubt he's ever needed to do this.
Unless Dan and Abel come clean with the reporters, or give a white lie - maybe tell them she was hospitalised and they're standing in for her - those reporters are going to come away with some very strange copy about how Lost Lake is run by a man in drag.
From the standpoint of punchlines and probability, I severely doubt he's going to be called out for not walking like a woman. I mean he's (incoming hilarious joke) had experience with the shoes, and there's just too many other gags to pull with the scenario. Also your dad is creepy.
And yeah, DMFA has always been a bit on the guys getting the short end of the stick. Look at the interactions between Jyrras and Lorenda, Dan and any female, Abel versus the world, and Merlitz not so much with the exception of some of the stuff Aaryanna put him through. The female characters just aren't caught off guard or faceplant as much as the guys, and the reason for that is something you will just have to discover for yourself.
Netami: Lorenda lost countless jobs. Aary is quite a tormented character all the time. Alexsi was under a lot of stress and now she's been kidnapped. Mab confessed her love to Merlitz right when he found a girlfriend. I think Wildy's the only one who won't look vulnerable no matter what, but that's her attitude, I think.
JP: well, Biggs didn't notice that. Either Dan is very good pretending to be a woman, or he comes across as a woman with male mannerisms... Which given Alexsi's reputation for the use of physical violence wouldn't look too off for 'her'.

I'm not talking about character drama. I am talking about the humor in this comic. Chaotik was pissed that most jokes are about emasculating the men, and they pretty much are. But it's not men in general, just these guys. I mean, Ink did the same thing to both Abel and Dan (no comments on his gender bendery), but for the most part it's just the male cast. More specifically, Dan and his being pretty dense.

Good point. Of course he only had to fool Biggs and his staff for about two minutes... the reporters are going to be there for a lot longer, and it might be a film crew as well, I'm not sure.

He's learned to hide things. As I say, he should be able to do away with his backwings as well. When he did the Godzilla thing with Aary the tentacles were the same colour, which is why he might have to resort to dye for his hair, unless Abel can teach him that quickly as well. Other than that and the breasts (adding might be harder than subtracting), he's not a bad match for her.

That being said, I don't find Ambers humor to be very "bashing". She makes some fun of Dan and the other men, but it looks more like friendly teasing than bashing to me.

well let's see the head wing would be enough to change the hair color.... dan already knows how to walk in high heels, He was mistaken for a girl by biggs, he was mistaken for a girl by a guy in a night club, and his closest friend was Jyrras who had seven Sisters (which in no way refrences constelation subaru) I believe with out a doubt that with all the estrogen dan has encountered Dan could actually pull this off even without his Cubi powers.
Dan and Abel make a very good pair, comedy-wise. The two of them "teaming up", so to speak, would be definitely worth reading.
I think it would be far more entertaining to see Dan doing a pure cross-dressing thing then any sort of shapechanging thing. It just seems to have a higher wackiness potential.

All the characters are so very efeminate for obvious reasons, quoted in its comedically appropriate way above. I find that to be one of the more endearing qualities of the comic. I so used the slumber party line, it really creeps out my team at work...

I doubt it will actually happen, at least during the lifetime of the comic. Maybe when Dan is a couple of thousand years old he might have a change of attitude, but at the moment he is even more frightened of becoming a monster than Abel, and Abel hasn't gone on a rampage as far as we know. (In fact, if his parents were murdered, that'll probably put him off doing it for eons).

Whilst my other theories might not have been correct, I have this sneaking suspicion that the one regarding Dan being mauled by somebody will. Mauled or set on fire, at least. Still, I would've liked to see what Jyrras could've and likely would've done with drinks-mixing, that would've been a recipe for explosive humour, to be sure.

WHY would Abel feel the need to imitate Merlitz to play the bouncer. there is no sense to it. He was a bouncer. Do you think Alexis used him as a selling point? All the magizine people will care about is weither there is or is not a bouncer on hand. The personage of merlitz is not in and of himself important for the smooth running of Lost lake. His position as bouncer and body gaurd how ever is. so he himselfdoes not have to be the one doing the job.

We don't know what she told the reporters. She went absolutely ballistic when Merlitz left, so it's quite possible that she told them security was provided by the amazing fireball-casting Being, or something equally specific to Merlitz.

I'm not really sure what good support for your opinions would do. It's like calling out the sky for being blue.
Am I aware of the possible issue? Why yes I am. I have been since the end of the SAIA Academy when it was first mentioned. And while I didn't do a whole arc just for them, I thought the mall arc was a nice contrast from the beat-down of the previous arc. (Other than Alexsi being fierce, Dan getting beamed by a falling sign, and Jyrras kinda spazzing.)
But it doesn't mean I am going to scrap every future joke that puts Dan or a male character in an offbeat situation.
Another thing to note, and this is somewhat key, and that is the girls aren't getting by scott-free. This supposed immunity has drawn its own criticism in that most the female cast seems to be very flat and lacking in personality depth. If they even show up at all...and in terms of fan-complaint...the fact Mab has her name in the title yet hardly shows up in comic takes the largest sum.
You have a valid concern. I dont necessarily agree with all parts of it, but I am aware of the opinion. However, I have no intention of pulling a complete 180 out of the blue. If/when changes come, they will take time. And they will come of my own decision.

*Charles thinks* Well, it could do with the fact that Dan is an idiot most of the time, Jyrras over-compensates for his tiny size with big machines, and Abel is still living through his early-life trauma.
A few females have issues. Aary has had problems, and I'd wager her break up is going to lead to something eventually.
Kria has a potentially major foil in Jy-Jy's and Lorenda's almost-a-relationship, and I see trouble brewing should she happen to discover just what the diminutive inventor has been putting together. She has a duty to the council, yet loves her daughter and has the hots for Jyrras. How will she deal with what she uncovers?
And then there's Fa'lina, on the outside cool and composed, but I'd wager she has a truly wicked inner core, rotten and full of worms! And her link to Dr. Ink... something fishy is going on there, I'm sure of it!
And Mab... well... still no luck with the porcupine... :mowhappy

I think Alexsi can wear any color she wants to and still manage to look fierce in it when she gets mad.
I agree with what Amber said (not that it would make any difference, but I like to say what I think); I
would like to see more of the characters who tend to fade into the background/foreground/elsewhere, but I think the continuity of the story is more important. It wouldn't be nice if she broke the flow of the comic in order to move the spotlight from Dan to the others. Maybe it would be nice to see more flashes of what the others are doing while the plot focuses on one character (like the horde scene, that was really funny), but not, like Amber said, a 180° shift.

You know? I think I know what makes me uncomfortable. It's not to do with male-bashing; it's the thought that if all the characters had been the opposite gender from the start there'd be a lot more complaints. While that's more of a reflection on society, it still makes me feel uneasy.
Regarding Amber's comments: I agree, a complete turnaround would probably be damaging to the comic. But it's nice seeing you do something new. For instance - the recent situation with Jyrras and Wildy in particular was very interesting, and I felt really helped develop Wildy and Jyrass as well as characters. As such, I'm quite interested in Wildy at the moment, and having Wildy head up an adventuring group would be good to see as it allows this development to continue.

And as far as Daniel and Pyroduck being the same being theory, if you read further you'd see that Alexi gave Pyro Dan's old room and forced Dan into the basement... Granted if Daniel was Lazy or something this would be entirly possible however It could be that Pyro had revealed his secret to Alexi and so on and so fourth...and that feather was kinda suspicious... and When I made my first post about this theory last october even I thought they behaved simmilarly.

I say I like the way Dan ends up in these situations. Because he's Dan and he's an easy mark there no other way of saying it. But anywho I can't wait for the females going on the adventures with the only male Pyroduck hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm very interesting. I like Dan being the butt of the jokes its his character the protaginst. But when he kicks ass he kick ass.
