Title: R.I.P. García Ferré
Post by: Gabi on March 28, 2013, 11:04:15 AM
News article in English (http://www.buenosairesherald.com/article/127441/cartoonist-garc%C3%ADa-ferr%C3%A9-dies)

Manuel García Ferré, creator of multiple cartoons, comics and animated movies, died today at the age of 83 during a heart surgery.

He created many memorable characters, like Hijitus, Larguirucho, Ico, Anteojito, Cachabacha the witch, Trapito, Calculín, the Patriarch of Birds, and more. He made great contributions to Argentinean culture, and he will be missed.

I leave this with a scene I found of a 1967 episode of Hijitus, when the hero adopted his famous pet Pichichus. (Sorry, the quality isn't great, but it's a really old video).

It seems every time I check in here, another great artist from your area has been lost. I hope their shoulders allowed for many more to stand.
