A shame she won't be able to enjoy "Jack Daniels Mustard"... it's mmmm good, and I'm fairly certain they don't have good quality Jones Soda, or Virgin Cola there either. (hurray for Nevada where all the copper mining companies belong to cannadians... and all the lithium mines belong to americans.)

Based on the size ratio, she should have enough maple syrup to last her exactly 23,748 pancakes/waffles/french toast...es.

We've had one of those bottles of syrup sitting on our kitchen table for the longest time.  I don't recall what happened to it. (remodling)

I wonder where the picture came from.

But that was really lazy... Reusing old strip titles (http://www.missmab.com/Comics/Vol_168.php)?

On a side note. Is it just me, or did someone else notice that the comic looks more, dodged, a lot lighted than usual, or maybe it's just my eyes playing with me... :mowdizzy

This latest comic really made me giggle, this is because Amber has a very good grasp on how "And now for something completely different." should be used.  It should involve something gigantic at least.  A gigantic bottle of maple-leaf alcohol/syrup just about does it.

Now I'm just waiting for one of the characters to 'go Canadian' to freak out the rest of Lost Lake.  Mer would be the perfect candidate since he's been away for a while.

What did they DO to you ... and what's with the omnipresent leaf motif?

Oi, don't diss the leaf, eh?  The leaf is all.

Light Wolf: the fonts are slightly different, since Amber has been using her brothers desktop, and is missing many of her personal fonts.

Any other changes are caused by the above effects, and will probably be slightly different again once she gets her machine up and working. And aren't a bad thing, since change is omnipresent anyway. :-)

There is an important difference. The old one has a "!" while the new one has ".". :P

actually, this comic was done on the new computer.  And like all new computers, it is different from the old computer that I spent 3 years working on.  Not incredibly different, but enough so that I have to make adjustements and reset a few things.

For instance, the new monitor is not only an LCD(which is going to take some getting used to in the colour department), it is also running at 1280x800 resolution as its a bit wider than it is tall.   So I'm having to deal with new resolutions and a slight colour shift...the end result will most likely be that(like I warned before) there will be a slight adjustment as I work towards getting a new pattern.

Oh, was it? Neat. Looking closely (ie, nitpicking detail level :-) I see the fonts changed from 670 to 671 (when you started on yoru brothers machine) and then back again, in the latest one.

So. Looks like things are lookign up :-)

(woot! I got an Amber response, woohoo! *giggles like a schoolgirl* :-)

I have a question for you. Are you some kind of robot? And if so, what kind of robot? Cause if you had laser eye beams, that'd be really awesome. :mowtongue

*Yes, that's very similar to something Strong Bad said. He is my teacher in the ways of the good and the awesome*

No, I'm just a pedant. Why do you ask?

*grin*

Incidentally, lest anyone get the wrong opinion, -change- is not bad. -different- does not mean bad. It doesn't mean good, either. It merely means it's different.
I'd say I like the new version, but, honestly speaking, there hasn't been enough of them (the maple whiskey one doesn't count, so we're at zero) to tell yet. So I'm waiting and seeing, as are we all, in the hopes that, once again, Amber will surprise us all.

Why not? She's done it every other time :-)

I'd also point out that without curiousity and the ability and desire to ask questions, we'd never learn anything.  Besides, I expect feeling her way around a new computer and finding new ways to do old things is a fun experience for Amber.  I know it is for me whenever I get a new computer.

TITLE: Last Saskatchewan Pirate
Lyrics

I used to be a farmer, and I made a living fine,
I had a little stretch of land along the city line
But time went by and though I tried, the money wasn't there
And bankers came and took my land and told me "fair is fair"

I looked for every kind of job, the answer always no
"Hire you now?" they'd always laugh, "we just let twenty go!"
The government, the promised me a measly little sum
But I've got too much pride to end up just another bum.

Then I thought, who gives a damn if all the jobs are gone?
I'm gonna be a PIRATE on the river Saskatchewan!!!

Cause it's a heave-ho, hi-ho, comin' down the plains
Stealin' wheat and barley and all the other grains
It's a ho-hey, hi-hey farmers bar yer doors
When ya see the Jolly Roger on Regina's mighty shores

Well, you'd think the local farmers would know that I'm at
large
But just the other day I found an unprotected barge
I snuck up right behind them and they were none the wiser,
I rammed their ship and sank it and I stole their fertilizer!

A bridge outside of Moosejaw spans a mighty river
Farmers cross in so much fear their stomachs are a'quiver
Cause they know that TRACTOR JACK is hiding in the bay
I'll jump the bridge and knock them cold and sail off with their hay!

Cause it's a heave-ho, hi-ho, comin' down the plains
Stealin' wheat and barley and all the other grains
It's a ho-hey, hi-hey farmers bar yer doors
When ya see the Jolly Roger on Regina's mighty shores

Well, Mountie Bob he chased me, he was always at my throat
He'd follow on the shoreline cause he didn't own a boat
But cutbacks were a'coming and the Mountie lost his job
And now he's sailing with us, and we call him Salty Bob!

A swingin' sword, a skull and bones and pleasant company
I never pay my income tax and screw the GST (SCREW IT!!)
Prince Albert down to Saskatoon, the terror of the seas
If you wanna reach the co-op, boy, you gotta get by me!

Cause it's a heave-ho, hi-ho, comin' down the plains
Stealin' wheat and barley and all the other grains
It's a ho-hey, hi-hey farmers bar yer doors
When ya see the Jolly Roger on Regina's mighty shores

(*spoken* Arrrr! Ya salty dog!)
(*spoken* Arrrr! Ya salty gopher!)
(*spoken* Arr.. ya.. salty bale of hay!)
Well, Pirate life's appealing but you just don't find it here,
I've heard that in Alberta there's a band of buccaneers
They roam the Athabaska from Smith to Fort McKay
And you're gonna loose your stetson if you have to pass their
way!

Well, winter is a'comin' and a chill is in the breeze
My Pirate days are over once the river starts to freeze
I'll be back in springtime but now I have to go
I hear there's lots of plundering down in New Mexico!

Cause it's a heave-ho, hi-ho, comin' down the plains
Stealin' wheat and barley and all the other grains
It's a ho-hey, hi-hey farmers bar yer doors
When ya see the Jolly Roger on Regina's mighty shores

Cause it's a heave-ho, hi-ho, comin' down the plains
Stealin' wheat and barley and all the other grains
It's a ho-hey, hi-hey farmers bar yer doors
When ya see the Jolly Roger on Regina's mighty shores

When ya see the Jolly Roger on Regina's mighty shores...
