Title: CVRPG's New Site - Restricted Area
Post by: Darkmoon on March 04, 2011, 12:58:53 PM
Okay, so the new site allows me the ability to set comics to publish out, automatically, at predetermined dates. Since DSWC: Villains is going to start up next week, I'm going to activate accounts for people to start reading that series early. The comic will publish out on M-W-F for the public, and every day for the private.

If you'd like to have access to the restricted area, please post a desired user name and an email to use for the account. When I make a backlog of comics in the future, this account will be the only way to view it.

Oh, nice! Um... are the usernames and e-mails we use for the forum valid choices?

If you would like, but you don't have to use that. Since the two databases aren't linked, you're free to use as you like (mostly, I just didn't want to presume...).

... must we post email in a format that is scrapeable? Or can we do user at host dot domain, and have you figure it out?

At risk of opening my mouth and removing all doubt that I am, indeed,  an idiot, I shall ask do we post the user name and email account to this thread?

Can we do it in Lambda Calculus like Roel de Vrijer? In that case, my e-mail is:
(λxyz->xliy((λa->aa)n)zxmail.com)gy@

Actually, it was more in the way of a general suggestion to others that they not post something that the bots out there will feed into spamsources.

... I'm wondering if that is anything like reverse polish notation.

No, that would be argument to the left and function to the right. But you know what it is now. :D

Oh, so... @yg(liy(n(λa->aa))zxmail.comλxyz->x) ?

Assuming that application is right-associative rather than left-associative, then it would be @yg(λxyz->xliy(n(λa->aa))zxmail.com). But oddly enough, if you assume each letter (and dot) is a function symbol, then the end result would have a different meaning because you'd have the functions applied to different arguments.

How would the spam bots get in here? This thread is locked away in a secret section.

Probably me.

I'm activating accounts in a day or two. If you haven't officially said "I'd like one and here's what I want to use" (so far brady and gabi are the only two to do so), then you aren't going to get activated in this first batch.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the folks who _aren't_ on the list will eventually see all the same comics, right?
Title: Re: CVRPG's New Site - Restricted Area

Eventually. For instance, however, DSWC: Villains is currently updating 3 days a week. In the restricted area, DSWC: Villains is updating 7 days a week. The archive I've put in is already a month two months ahead of the public side, and I've only gotten about 30 45 comics in on putting all the ones I have done for that arc.

Similarly, Darkmoon's Quest is updating 2 days a week publicly, but 4 days a week in the special area.

I intend to keep this rate up for both of those comics. Eventually, once I've written out one of them, I'll do the same for CVRPG proper... and then once that has a substantial enough backlog, I'll do the same for whatever other sidestory I come up with (which could, in fact, be updating on the private side for a long time before it even goes live on the public side).

I could, of course, actually make it a pay bonus to have early access to this content (or hide other bonus content behind a paywall), but I've elected not to do that.

I have a hard enough time keeping up with the main comic as is.  I think if I went along with these, my head would explode.

The three requested accounts have been activated. You may now login on the site and enjoy extra comics in advance.

I can't log in. It's asking for a password and I don't have any. I've tried resetting it, but that only sends me to the login page.

The password should have been in the email that was sent to you originally.

I'll sent a password reset to your email. gabisteren@lycos.co.uk, yes?

No, that's not my e-mail. That's just my MSN account. Lycos doesn't even provide e-mail anymore, so I have no way to retrieve that message. :( I'm using gliynn at Gmail.
