Title: Movies in 2011/2012
Post by: 127.0.0.2 on January 06, 2011, 07:20:40 PM
Apologies if this has been discussed before. But after I had accepted that the highlights of this movie year are apparently Pirates of the Carribean 4, The Smurfs 3D (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0409847/) and Cowboys and Aliens (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0472181/), I noticed that in production for 2012 is Battleship - The move (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battleship_%28film%29), followed by Rubic's Cube - The Movie (http://www.guardian.co.uk/film/2010/nov/12/rubiks-cube-film-big-screen).

Is it just me or do we have a problem?

Well a movie kind of based on the idea of the Rubic's Cube already exists- Cube and it's not half bad. As for battleship- I'm curious what they'll come up with. My guess is that no one knows what it will be about yet, so any comment right now would come out extremely prejudiced. What I'm really looking forward to though is Transformers 3 and Kung Fu Panda 2.

*makes up a list of movies for 2012, along with taglines*

Pong-Get Paddled!

Tetris-Getting the Drop On You!

Snorks-They Suck and Blow

Hungry Hungry Hippos-No, this is not a parody of American obesity rates... but it could be...

Two Hours of a White Background and Silence-A movie by Philip Glass. *$190 million budget*

Aliens vs Santa Claus-It can't really be that bad, can it?

The Incredibly Strange Creatures Who Stopped Living and Became Mixed Up Zombies 2- Even we don't know why we made this... we were all on LSD at the time.

Plan 9 From Outer Space (remake)- It has better special effects this time (maybe).

Land Before Time Over 9,000- Littlefoot finally grasps his true power to become a Super Saurian and defeat the most terrible lizard of all... King Koopa!

Poke-Ball Z-This actually might be good... >:3

I prefer to think of Jeff Bridges performance in The Big Lebowski. The gangsters are shoving his head into the toilet and he's like... "Hang on, I think I see something."

The latest crop of movies aren't all bad, but the same ol' plots plots are starting to stagnate. I honestly don't see how digging up a dead horse is any better than kicking one.

*thinks of a horror movie for the box*  The Recycling Bin

*imagines all the boxes in the theater vomiting from their flaps as the evil Janitor rips up boxes and throws them into the bin of box body parts and entrails (foam peanuts).*  Of course, the footage would just be of a guy doing his job at UPS.   ;)

This sounds like something Garry Larson would have come up with for a daily strip... yes, I can see it... it's so perfect, so beautiful... it must be done!

I wasn't aware Cube is actually made after the Rubic's Cube. But even then, at least they had the niceness not to make it the main selling point of the movie.

Actually, there are a few details. Apparently, it will be about an invasion of aliens who, for a change, do not want to take over the world but are "looking for something". (Dun Dun Dun!)
This invasion is then held back by the Navy. I agree, this could actually become an interesting movie, however I have this fear that the alien invasion (and the gross register tons of applied phlebotium that come with them) are basically an explanation to why the world can now really only be saved by playing a game of real life Battleship. Which would be lame. Really lame.

im going to take the easy route and start off by adding some sequilmatter to this pile in addition to some im just embarrassed people paid to make

ice age 4- when there should never have been a 2

scream 4-  .... wait, didn't they stop making those in the late nineties?

hoodwinked two i didn't actually dislike hoodwinked, but i can dislike this on principle

appollo 18- a fake documentary about astronauts finding hostile life on the moon, i will let you form your own punchline

POM wonderful the greatest movie ever sold- apparently a movie about the evils of product placement. which begs the question why someone would voluntarily put their brand name in the title, its like viagra sponsoring the movie 'sicko'

spy kids 4- are they even still kids? the home alone movies made more sense when they made one of the burglars a girl and replaced mcully culcan with an eight year old with brown hair

the hangover two- 'drunk in Thailand', three word plot

Untitled 3D Shark Thriller! - seriously, thats the working title. get this, its set on a house next to a freshwater lake. someone fell asleep in fourth grade biology i see.

Dibbuk Box- a holocaust survivor brings a haunted jack in the box with him to los angeles, which then seems to start killing people by the power of nazi magic.

Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked - HRRRrrNNnnrrRRRnnNgggggg..... brain hurtey...

on the other hand i am looking forward to a grand total of two movies- the lorax and the muppets. tales of revenge packaged in somewhat cute forms, i approve

im surprised noboy here, amongs all of the 'sure these movies are shit but im looking forward to blank' pointed out that there is a dark tower movie coming out... also going to be a series

also a movie im not exited or disgusted about but really just curious about. they are making 'the king of the elves' into a movie. this is a short story, very short. i read the whole thing in less then ten minutes. basically a small town gas station owner meets a faerie funeral procession of their dead king, and the elves elect him king in hopes he can stop the troll king from killing them all after the death of their last king.  *spoiler* he tells his best friend about the elves, who then tries to commit him to a mental home, but then trolls assult the elves and he kills their king who just so happens to be his best friend who wanted to call the assylum.

now, what really puzzles me is the monsters incorporated 2 movie release date. we all know that John Ratzenberger appears in each pixar movie, and in MI1 he played someone banished to the human world. so, in MI2 do they bring him back or do they make a second character with the same voice? nothing serious, but just makes me wonder

A) Its allude, not elude. Eluding is what you try to do when the banhammer comes.

B) I would suggest reading the rules, but judging by your previous comments you either have and dont care, or dont want to and are trying to get yourself banned. Either way you are trolling.

C) Everybody is entitled to their own opinion, though there might be reprecussions depending on how they vocalize them.

D) I'm now going to find a Vault to hide in from the fallout from the oncoming banhammer.

Plainly we need to remind everyone what Trolling is, as per the rules: no "following" someone else from thread to thread posting flamebait posts.

This is two posts in one thread. The guy is not a Troll.

Also, everyone needs to stop playing "forum police." Plainly, I saw the posts and didn't think anything of it. If I banned every idiot that posted in this forum... well, it'd be a lot quieter in here.

You guys are entirely way too stupid to insult.

First, as the mod has said (yes, I have known the ENTIRE time that Darkmoon is a mod ... which is why it is hysterical to report him to himself) I have done absolutely no trolling.

Here is a protip:

Trolling =/= sarcasm/general douchebaggery.

Lets assume for a moment that my initial post was serious (which I assure you, it was not); you "people" are too obsessed with watching some sort of a fallout between myself and a mod, thinking that I am much to stupid to realize that Darkmoon was a mod. God forbid I have two brain cells and work that out on my own (especially with the clever comments like "do I get to tell him yet") that the lord and master Darkmoon is actually a mod.

I, however, do not enjoy Mrs. Mr. Bieber's so-called (this actually does have a hyphen, Mr. n'n'daCorna ... because we all know how important they are toward your well-being. Oh shit, another hyphen! It must be your birthday!) acting is garbage and her his music is even worse. I was using sarcasm and dark comedy (or black comedy if you want to be a racist about it).

I honestly don't care whether or not you "people" find it funny or not, I am not here for your amusement ... I'm here to entertain myself, and a few other people who are poking around these hallowed halls.

So, enjoy your popcorn ... because I guarantee that I am not going anywhere, for I have not broken a single rule.

Unless there is a rule against being awesome.

(Note: any attempts to try and deflate my ego will result in me laughing at your pathetic existence while I enjoy a glass of Tang with my cats. Tang: It's a kick in a glass!)

Edit: I forgot to mention one thing ... SquirrelWizard, you are correct ... I had a massive brain fart, thank you for correcting me (and you should win the award for best user name) but I assure you that I knew the difference, my cellphone [for whatever reason] does not know the word 'allude' this has been corrected, and hopefully won' happen again. Auto-correct fail.  :B

I agree with this 100%; but it is difficult to continue posting about my fake drug habit when there are people on the forum with an ounce of intelligence. I know when I'm beaten, and I got spanked pretty hardcore and called out on my shit. I know when to stop (most of the time), and like I said before ... I know when I'm beaten.

No one is forcing you to read what I write; also ... I do not need to impress anyone on this forum. I don't care/need your approval. Also, I have met some of the people on the board before, and a few of them are very close friends to me IRL.

Thank you for diagnosing me with Asperger's, I shall go to a psychaitrist right away! Seriously, thank you. I have long struggled with social interaction. I'm glad you are utilizing your degree diagnosing me on the internet; how much do I owe you?

... and yet you amuse all with your antics. Funny how that works.

I unfortunately see the irony of that as well.

I apologize beforehand if the editing is a little off ... as I have said in other posts, I primarily am posting from my cellphone ... and quoting people is a tad irritating on cellphones.

instead of making a reffrence to difficulties fornicating while wearing a codpiece, i will instead try to shake things up by asking if anyone has an opinion on the two tim buron claymation movies which are going to be in the works

frankenweenie - child resurrects dead dog into an abomination unto god

adams family- well, its the adams family. presumably creepier then 'normal'

I didn't know about frankenweenie so far, but Tim Burton generally has always been awesome. And... year ... having watched it (the original) on youtube right now I think that one was no exception.

As for the remake, apparently tim burton himself got the idea and is producing it, so at least the people involved will know what they are doing :)
Also, it should be fun to see a claymation film in the year 2012...

Finally, am I seeing things that are not there, or is there an E.T reference in the original frankenweenie?
Title: Re: Movies in 2011/2012
Post by: Brunhidden on February 16, 2011, 01:06:33 AM
i largely just find it facinating how drastically the claymation evolves between each movie made

first you have nightmare, in all its glory. corpse bride had a very complex system of metal skeletons to make animating the clay figures far more smooth and acessable, coraline... well, i have no freaking clue but it was pretty interesting and conveyed a lot of emotion, which is really why the claymation films are so great to begin with

Pssh. Nolan's a new director. Give him a few years and he'll churn out something horrid sooner or later. Coppola, Reiner, Shamaylan, you get the idea.

he's kinda on Nolan's tier for me, which is good, but not as good as say, Fincher, the Coens, or the two Andersons, to say nothing of Terrence Malick.

I shall make a movie about paper airplanes.

In the plot, all the metal in the world has been stolen... by ALIENS!!!  D:

And the only hope is that the oragami masters (who have POWERS!!!) can make space-faring paper-airplanes equipped with... uhm... photon torpedoes... using SCIENCE!!!

Hmm, good guys need something hip and trendy... I know!  They're good-looking teens that brood all the time because of their oragami powers!!   And the aliens are working for a huge corporation of evil!  And at the end, robots will appear and kill people cuz in the future machines will take over thanks to the evil coprporation, and the aliens are secretly GOOD!!  And the only way they could stop them was to steal all the metal on Earth that the robots needed to make themselves!  WHAT A TWIST!!! (plus it guarantees a multi-part franchise to rake in more $$$$$$$$!)

IT SHALL BE TH GREATEST MOVIE EVARRRRRR!!!!

"Transformers" kind of made me cry, thus ruining action genera for me. Sure the transformation were cool, but can you believe how much time they waisted in battles and the humans in planning rooms trying decide to tell their men were to shoot.

this may be a streach but the plot is a bit similar to an existing and old science fiction novel

the history is thus- humans travel to space and colonise new worlds which are largely forgotten about because theyre so far its *bleep*nuggets to keep in touch. one of these worlds after being colonised kind of degraded into being roughly late middle ages after a few centuries. but wait! a probe from the universal conglomorate government has been spotted and this 'new' world will soon be added to the lists of world in the empire within a few years once diplomats get there. why is this important? because a planet that has the capability of space travel gets equal standing and voting rights in this government, whereas a planet without the capability of space travel is second class and usually is lightly raped by those planets who have interstellar battleships.

thus begins the race for a king to put together a spaceworthy vessel in under ten years using roughly leonardo da vinchi level technology. which, incidentelly, would make one awesome movie, i would assume it would be comedic as well

correction to my point about 'King David's Spaceship (1980)', i was mostly doing the explanation on when i stumbled across it in a used book store and read the back cover. but now i went out and discovered the actual plot. correction is as follows.

they do not have middle ages technology and would not be doing a davinchi style spacecraft- they are in fact a society of top hat, handlebar mustachios, and monocle wearing society who would be building a steam-punk spaceship. which is like thirty times more awesome.  i made the mistake of assuming medieval era technology because it referenced a portion of the book where they go to an even lower tech world and are forbidden from bringing new or disruptive technology so they arm themselves with swords and shields (they later break the law anyways by inventing the horse collar, which suddenly makes horses more efficient then having slaves do all the work). also where they say 'king david' think more like 'queen victorias sugar daddy'
