Title: The worth of a quid?
Post by: Castle Pokemetroid on August 22, 2010, 06:21:02 PM
I've noticed that "quid" is the type of currency used in CVRPG. I've only remember hearing Darkmoon use the term, but still.

I wonder, how much is one quid even worth when compared to say, US dollars, or something fictional, like Gil?

I also wonder where the term "quid" comes from. Is it a Romainian currency?

Actually it's a slang term used by British and Irish.  The British version refers to £1 (1 pound sterling British currency).  The Irish version refers to €1 (1 euro, standardized European currency).

I admit I appropriated the term from the British slang. The heroes use it even before Angel comes along, and really I have no explanation for that. If it were Angel's fault, I could explain it. We could just assume another angel spread the term around and it was used for awhile before fading out and then coming back into use a couple of centuries later.

In this case, a quid would refer to one unit of the common currency of the land.

Oh! Just like 'yuan' in Chinese.
