Title: Introductions: business as usual.
Post by: Durocher on July 29, 2006, 11:20:19 PM
I've decided to drag my face here.  Some may have seen this name around or in a variation of spelling (Daroucher usually).  That's all I'm going to give you.  Formulate your own opinion without me telling you what I want you to think about me.

Every forum needs at least one ridiculous rule.

Aiyno, this is the second time I've had to remind you.

Actually the first time I've seen you warn me it was just gibberish. (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v703/WEO/Emicons/coldhearted.png) This time it was dutch.  :mowsad

Also this one was posted before the other one. (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v703/WEO/Emicons/coldhearted.png)

I apologize for breaking the rule however Damaris, If you wish I will put the transelation below it.

To be fair, it's a reasonable rule with a reasonable explanation behind it - "only one of us speaks spanish, so we can't reasonably police it for rude words or abuse of the -other- rules" seems to me to be perfectly acceptable.

Gibberish is another hazard, however. OTOH, I have been accused of speaking gibberish when I thought I was making a perfectly valid point, if only because I left the other party -way- behind in the explanation after fifteen or sisxteen consecutive obscure points.... That's a different argument, however :-)

I think, in this case, he meant gibberish as "random strings of letters that do not actually make words."

However, since I don't know what all twenty billion languages in the world look like, I tend to err on the side of caution.

Jabberwocky

'Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
    Did gyre and gimble in the wabe;
    All mimsy were the borogoves,
    And the mome raths outgrabe.

    'Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
    The frumious Bandersnatch!'

He took his vorpal sword in hand:
Long time the manxome foe he sought--
So rested he by the Tumtum tree,
    And stood awhile in thought.

And as in uffish thought he stood,
The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,
Came whiffling through the tulgey wood,
    And burbled as it came!

One, two! One, two! And through and through
    The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head
    He went galumphing back.

'And hast thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
    O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!'
    He chortled in his joy.

'Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
    Did gyre and gimble in the wabe;
    All mimsy were the borogoves,
    And the mome raths outgrabe.

... As you should. I mean, as a moderator, your job is to moderate. If you can't understand what's being said, how can you be expected to moderate it?

Or, at least, that's my 2p. :-)

Heya, Durocher. All I know is it's gonna be a weird and interesting ride. Usually changes depending on your sanity, but in days unfolding, such a thing shall become meaningless.

This one welcomes thee to this...intriguing place. :januscat
