--Why can you not delete posts?--
Prevents a bit of asshattery. People post something that makes them look like a douche, then destroy the evidence. They can still edit it to death, but at least that leaves a very noticeable trace.
Also, Asshats are notoriously bad taste when it comes to fashion.
