Huh, so Pip does speak Common. There goes my theory :(

Yay more Pip talk. I like his smile, we don't usually get to see a smiling pip. It's going to be an interesting conversation between a sarcastic lowner and a silant Dan muncher.

This reminds me of a Dungeons and Dragons type series that was aired many years ago.  The protagonist was talking to his sidekick, who had the ability to talk to animals.

Protagonist:  How is it that you can talk to animals?

Sidekick:  It's just a gift.

Protagonist:  Oh.

Sidekick:  Yes, my uncle, the wizard, gave it to me when I was twelve.

I guess that Pip's ability to speak is the same kind of gift.

*****

Edit:

I think that it was Wizards and Warriors (CBS, 1983) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wizards_and_Warriors_(TV_series))

Also, Pip seems to know about Abel, then again he's friend with a Fae

I'm finding it interesting he knows Abel's last name given how much I doubt he'd have mentioned it.

When I first read it through I thought something was strange about the dialogue.

It took me a couple of minutes to realize it was that Pip knows Abel's last name.
It has never been mentioned in the main story, and I see no reason to assume that it was used off-panel.

Now, looking through Abel's personality enough to come up with that reply should be difficult, but where does Pip know that name from???

Pip's sarcasm does seem familiar...  I'm beginning to put more stock in this being a dream sequence.  With Fa'lina disguised as Pip. :eek

Having a think about it I wonder if this has anything to do with Fa'Lina's "Old/New" friend comment regarding Mab... Though that would imply they have spoken in the last near 300 years though for some reason brain has decided they they haven't for a far longer period. As of right now however thats the only possability I'm wrangling up given Abel's preference to keep personal history quiet.

But then we don't really know what Mab has gotten up to in the past let alone where Pip has been and potentially eavesdropped. That I assume might be why my brain seems to think null theory but eh  :<

Nice catch.  It makes sense from the Occam's Razor point of view, but I'm not sure that would quite explain how Pip expected his attitude.  You don't usually put things like that on your CV :P

Agreed...We don't yet have enough backstory on Mab/ Fa'Lina or Mab/ Pip to know how they all relate to one another; we only know they've been friends for a long time, possibly since or even before the Cubi/ Dragon war itself. The one thing we have learned here, is that he picked up common speak from hanging with Mab all those years.

I'm guessing with them being the old friends they are, Fa'Lina may have filled Mab in on a few things about Abel's past when they 'rescued' Dan from SAIA, and Pip was party to the conversation.

Either way, I have a feeling Pip is going to give Abel a lot to think about  :mowcookie

It's not hard to guess at what Abel's personality is by now, it's not like he just showed up. They've had enough time to see who he is, at least his surface personality.

Of course, Fae 'non-linearity' may make that statement a bit ambiguous (even if Pip isn't a Fae himself, he does seem to spend most of his time accompanying Mab). Are those sixteen years the time he's actually lived through, subjectively, or just the time that has passed between his hatching day and the 'now' of the story, just for starters...? :mowdizzy

I just have to let this trope out of the bag now. . . . ."Look in your heart, Abel Rewanz! I AM YOUR FATHER!"  "NNOOOOOOO! Wait. You've lost weight, dad!"  :)

I'd have to side with the non-linear people here ... we really don't know how old Pip is in relative time, nor do we know *when* he has been.
After all, he travels with a Fae, for all we know he lives half his time 200 years into the future.

*shrug*

Amber has left enough strings to pull for herself, to make speculation completely inaccurate.

On a side note : Get well Amber.  :hug

The New/Old Friends from a different time thing..  I'm thinking that the Mab we saw there never met Fa'Lina before,  but sometime in Fa'Lina's 9,000 years she met a Mab and they got along famously and had many adventures Muffins!  But that whole non-liner time thing with Fae just muddies the issue some.

I'm wondering if Falina Is/Was/Will-Be inspired to found SAIA by Mab?

On another note, I wonder if Pip's Dan-Munching isn't motivated by malice, but is his way of helping keep Dan 'fed' while he was experimenting with the wonders of the Ale-diet?   :P

According to his cast page, he is 16 and a drake. I don't think the cast page has contained lies heretofar, so I don't really expect it to, especially given that one of the lines is that drakes know three languages, two of which only drakes know, a set up for this.

QuoteMy first impression on seeing the comic: Pip looks like a smug jerkass.

Well, isn't that the general way of things for him up to this point anyway?

As for Pip knowing Abel's last name... it seems very likely to me that is simply because he and Mab know far, far more than it would seem they would, or even should.

Of course, it wouldn't surprise me in the least if dropping Abel's last name was not accidental.

Has Amber ever told us how or if souls work in Furrae? Other than with the Fae, that is.

Is reincarnation possible, impossible or unknown? Do souls get recycled back in the Bhuddist manner to learn the lessons required to move forward?   Do being and creature souls come back in the opposite form? Do chocolate chip cookies come back to haunt you in the afterlife?

So many questions.

I concur....Devin is currently in the employ of the Soulstealer household; in fact, Kria has extended her last name to him, and pretty much regards him as her son...his original soul/ personality was apparently lost to the ether..

It might be possible to retrieve or re-introduce someone's soul into another body, but to Abel, the voice alone would have been a dead giveaway.

Well .. I think it's more a question of how sick YOU get when you get too much dirt on you!

Depends on whether your name is Monk.

According to his cast page, he is 16 and a drake. I don't think the cast page has contained lies heretofar, so I don't really expect it to, especially given that one of the lines is that drakes know three languages, two of which only drakes know, a set up for this.

1. Dan was listed as a being for a long time.
2. Rose STILL isn't mentioned on Mab's page.
3. Mab can understand Pip's "Kii"s. If Mab knows it it';s not a language known only to drakes. Also it doesn't say PIP knows 3... IT just says drakes...
Spoiling plot twists via your cast pages doesn't make them very good twists.

1. Amber probably didn't get around to it
2. Err...I plead the fifth.
3. Fae also visit other universes, but I don't believe that's clearly defined either.

Logically it should be someone - or an agent of someone - who has known Abel at SAIA, since that's when he started pushing people away.  AFAIK he wasn't like that with Devin or any of his family.  I'm tending towards a Destania connection myself, but I guess we'll find out someday.

If it is someone from SAIA that is pretending to be Pip, then it has to be someone who would have to have know Abel for quite a long time. Since Abel's "art form of being alone", has drived many away; that leaves very few people that we are aware of.................unless, someone who knows the people who know about Abel personally, filled them in on several things prior. Plus, it'd have to be someone who can put of the "wackiness" that is the Fae race.....  :3

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if it was Mink in disguise; it would explain why we didn't see him at the academy during the SAIA arc, that's of course assuming that nothing of consequence has happened to him from his time since Abel's Story.

Who knows what's being going on with Mink recently; people can change overtime............plus, living with the Fae can change anyone to a degree.

Except for maybe someone from the Dimanika clan, they thrive on the craziness!  >:3 Hello, Fae World!! Here I come!!

Everyone else was obviously a different story, but none of the Fae themselves seemed confused in the slightest...

Actually, to use your wording, to me..It seemed like each Fae was in a different story.
