I'm a big fan of pixel art, stuff like the pieces in Princess Maker, Cave Story and games like that are absolutely joyous. I think it takes real talent to be able to toss pixels around in a meaningful way and seeing stuff like this really takes me back.
I love the shading but more, I love the fact that it's got true style, the style of a bygone era that's been a bit forgotten thanks to polygons and that's a crime.

For one thing, much applause for more monsters in art. Just getting that out there.
Now, that shoulder seems a bit awkward, as do the spines. Face overall is just awesome. On a side note, her hair reminds me of the gelatos (sp?) you can get at some pizzarias.

The one toward the viewer. It just doesn't seem to match up with the angle you see her torso from.
I think that it makes sense because she's kind of reaching around with her shoulder pulled back a bit... If it were supposed to be hanging straight, it would be way off. But she's kind of like, "I've got this huge spike on my hand. I'm gonna hurt you now, 'k?" That's just what I think anyway...

The spine (backbone) line on the character's back seems nicely lined up, perhaps just nudge the back spines over a touch to follow that line will help?
