I was wondering how many have played the online game Evony.
I was playing but recently I've decided to quit as it has lost it's fun. Not the I got bored with it kind but rather the too many trolls kind.
The first few weeks of play was fun, building and doing the research and basically improving my city (I even built another city and had it fairly well developed).
I was having fun in the game, I was even building an alliance when the trolls decided to unite against my alliance. Basically they drove one by one the other members out of the game (or to join larger alliances)
I had over looked the fact that this game's designers spam you with offers of deals for game befits that you have to pay for and the fact that other players could waste money buying things that you can get from the game free (if you had the time and luck).
In the end a game is no longer fun when you realize that while at work you are worrying about the time you spent building up a city being taken away by someone who has all day to spend attacking your city till they take it. In the end I've just decided to stop worrying and love the bomb... I mean just end the game.

When I joined the first ad in that article was the one I had clicked on. I hadn't see the others until afterwards. When I did see them I thought to myself "what have I gotten myself into..."
My British friend complained about seeing all the boobie ads for this Evony game on other sites, but the funny thing was I had no idea what he was talking about (due to having Adblock installed). He had to link to an article ripping on just how crap the game was to show me the ad. When the advertising's that clothing-free, you can't really expect a good game out of it.

I've only seen the ads so far, but from they way they have been changing it looked to me like they were getting more and more desperate.
IIRC it started out with a fairly standard RPG premise: "Be a lord, rule your own realm..."
Then the ads started to get progressively more dodgy, with the woman becoming less and less dressed, which made me think "Ew, it's actually a porn game" and immediately nixed any desire to play it for its own merits. It did not help when they added a tagline like "Even more undetectable at work" or somesuch.
Now they seem to have ditched the sex angle and gone back to the gameplay, e.g. "Our town is under attack, save us!", which suggests to me that on this occasion sex did not sell. Maybe the gameplay is interesting but it's now been mentally tagged in my mind as "Some seedy porn game".

Really? EVony was a Civ clone? I assumed otherwise from the ads as Jigsaw provided. Then again, I've become so desensitized by Internet ads I hardly notice ads anymore.
