Title: 10/09/09 [DMFA #1047] - The language of a face
Post by: silentassassin on October 09, 2009, 06:08:47 AM
Aw I do love the facial expressions in this. The three of Alexsi's are quite revealing of her emotions. As that psychological law said 7% 30% 50%.

P.s. Can't remember actual numbers but these are close.

I see Alexsi has some rather odd ideas about loving and trusting Dan...

... Alexis' face in the last panel will haunt me forever. And I wonder which Amber will follow, the date or Dan and Abel watching the inn.

Hey he isn't chopped up into little pieces, thrown into a garbage bags, and then tossed into the gulf stream is he? That's love to me. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ej8-Rqo-VT4)

Note:Best Dexter video I could find at short notice without pulling the Season 4 promo and that might spoil something for people new to the series or not in that season. Also could someone tell me how to make so the url dispears and the words are highlighted so clicking it works like clicking the actual url?

Edit:
Like that. If you read the help page, it actually spells it all out for you.

And now I want to see Alexsi walloping Regina. With the Lost Lake Mallet. HARD.

She would have to be utterly nuts to try anything.  Attacking Dan or his friends would royally piss off Lorenda, Kria, and even Aliph (who now seems to want to use ties with Dan to ally with Cyra) - basically everyone she has any regard for.

Well I don't think Regina has the courage to tackle Dan in the middle of public especially since she faired none to well herself if my memory serves.

I don't think Regina has the courage to go running off away from Dark Pegasus's cleaning errands.

*Charline hmms*  Going on a date with someone who's secretly a dragon, with her step-mother about to embark on a dragon-exterminating crusade, with Abel and (possibly) Aniz getting into the mix, while Fa'lina tries keeping everything together!  And of course Dan still has no clue about any of it.

It's the recipe for delicious disaster!  Yay!   :boogie

I don't think we have to fear a demon attack with Ducky being Alexia's escort.

But what if other dragons see Ducky?

Does the same exterminate Cubi include a dragon adopted by a cubi as well?

We could get some very vague hints at Ducky's past as well as Alexia's from this date.

Things like was ducky raised on the Cubi campus by his mother?

How did his adopted mother find him or receive him?

What did Alexia's step-mother teach her to make her the most capable fighters in lost lake?

What dreams did Alexia had for her future as a child?

On a side note does this mean Dan and Abel get revisited from the adventurers that where looking for Merlitz? :P

Let's hope so, it would most likely be very funny (awkward) to watch.

Lets look at who is going on the date.

Contestant 1 - Alexsi.  Considered to be one of the 3 scariest things Abel has seen which Dan commented that she must be loosing her touch (http://www.missmab.com/Comics/Vol_623.php). She is also a capable fighter (http://www.missmab.com/Comics/Vol_703.php) and deals with the in duties on a daily basis.

Contestant 2 - Pyroduck. The adopted child (http://www.missmab.com/Comics/Vol_1046.php) of a (heavily implied) tri-wing cubi, and ascary tri-wing at that.  A dragon who can handle problems with minimal effort (http://www.missmab.com/Comics/Vol_683.php) on his part.

My concern is not the two of them, in fact it is far from it, I fear for the well being (physical and mental) of anyone that dares try to interrupt their date.  Also if they marry and have babies, I wonder if their offspring will be as fearsome as their parents.

*sighs*

Everyone seems to be basing their projections for any trouble on the date on the basis of Regina walking up to Pyroduck and Alexsi and attacking them with her claws or whatever weapon she chose to bring.

I don't think this is likely, for a number of reasons.

One, Regina would have to abandon DP and get out of his lair. Even if DP chooses not to try to stop her, I don't think Regina has the guts to break away from the last bit of family she seems to have supporting her.

Two. Regina would have to find where Alexsi and Pyroduck are going. Given that she's living in an apparently deserted mansion and has shown no means of magical divination, this seems unlikely.

Three, she'd have to want to attack the pair of them. She might have other things to do.

Four. Assuming she did attack, what makes you think she'd "fight fair". She strikes me more as the type to stab in the back, or just burn down the restaurant or whatever they're staying at.

Five. Cyra clan has a lot of enemies. Who says it's going to be Regina that causes any disturbance? Dragons spring to mind, and I'm sure there are a few 'Cubi out there who might be tempted to take a shot at anyone affiliated with the Cyra clan, especially if there are any grudges against Pyroduck as well.

Of course, none of this is directly relevant to the main joke anyway. Dan has yet to really demonstrate his competence. He must have some skill with a blade, given how he was able to fight DP to a kind of mutual death, or marginal victory, depending on how you take it, but he's never struck me as the sort to have much in the way of foresight or perception, which are probably more useful in terms of bodyguarding than direct fighting skill. We also know he is magically inept, and unlikely to come up with any sort of mystical protection. Truth be told, Pyroduck is probably far better protection for his sister than he is.

EDIT: I also think Dan's fixating on the threat that Regina poses is simply more evidence of his poor judgement. Really, there are much worse things out there than she.

True, but Regina murdered about 12 of Dan's friends and acquaintances just for fun.  That almost included Wildy - who is tough as nails.  Also, I'm not sure he knows what Pyroduck is.  If Dan assumes Pyro is Being-like, that makes his concerns rather more sensible.

Yeek.  Alexsi's smile in the last panel definitely reminds me of the Joker, and I'm not sure that's a good thing.

I'm just wondering whether Pyroduck and Alexsis will be consuming alcoholic beverages, and, if so, how much.  Considering what Alexsi did here (http://www.missmab.com/Comics/Vol_878.php) and here (http://www.missmab.com/Comics/Vol_957.php), I hate to think she might do with loosened inhibitions.

Well, strictly speaking, she said she hadn't had a night out in a really long time.  If her other dates were in the Inn, both statements would still be correct >:3

Even if something does happen with Regina, it might not be that particular situation which causes concern.  Such things can draw the attention of much more dangerous eyes.

:giggle  Okay....

I guess we must think differently, though, because from my perspective anyway, if it's in the Inn, it's NOT a date....

Well I doubt she would leave the reigns of her Inn to these two only to return to said establishment for her night out. Just seems horribly impracticle.

I'm getting a }:] kind of vibe from Alexsi's face there. Also to Alexsi's credit, she did boast about only being beaten in a fight by three people, and one of them was her and Dan's mother, as I recall. She's a formidable opponent all on her own, but with P-Ducky at her side, as well, I'm positive she'll be alright. That's not to say something isn't gonna go down. It wouldn't be a very fun date if that were true. >:3

When was Duckie adopted by FaLina?

EDIT: Back in 740, Falina says, "Pyroduck is like a son to me". He doesn't appear to actually be adopted, merely close friend.

EDIT 2: Did I actually spend almost 2 hours going through the archives on this???
