I was wondering when that was going to come up again, about Dan being Lorenda's "boyfriend"....   :giggle

Ah, double entendres.  Gotta love 'em.  I also love the transition from serious face to, erm, not serious face.

Swords aside, I'm wondering what Destania thinks about that announcement.  No doubt Kria did the 'unfounded' thing the last couple of times DP came back.

Possible reactions include:

"Oh ____, I've just sent my only child to his death..."

"Dan is dating the Dark Pegasus' niece.  They must have joined forces."

Actually I'm wondering if she would even know it at this point--though I have no reason to think otherwise, there's no hard and fast evidence that Kria mentioned Dan's name.  She doesn't say it here, she says "an adventurer."  That could be anybody, plus Dan's supposed to be a retired adventurer so people might even think she was talking about one that wasn't retired--ergo, not Dan.

Okay, aside from the hilarious double entrendre in this strip, I guess I'll be the first to ask:

What is that logo on the podium and wall (blocked by Kria's speech bubbles)?
Is it the crest of the Soulstealer family?
Is it the symbol or flag of the city of Zynvth?

Yeah, it looks more like Kria was just keeping up her reputation of "can't go thirty seconds without embarrassing the daughter" than naming Dan as Lorenda's BF.

Yes, but (as Biggs) she told him:  "Ooh, that's right!  You're an adventurer, yes?  The hacky?  The slashy?  Yes?  How would you like to earn some money stabbing something?"

...so, she's just sent "an adventurer" to the Soulstealers, and now it's announced that Lorenda is dating one.

Fortunately I also have an unmonitored data channel (aka an HTC Dream with data card) so for people who don't want FA on their logs, or are viewing this with Lynx, that is a link to the background art for this comic.  The text says that it is the Zinvth crest, and the red gem on the desk acts both as a mic and as a language translator.

I can't imagine anyone, well, anyone smart, taking anything Kria says too seriously. Dee's pretty sharp, she'd probably go checking herself, or send some sort of agent. I'd be pretty surprised if she doesn't know about Matilda.

This is true.  However, the facts remain that DP returned, and that Kria believes Dan is dating Lorenda.  IMHO a lot rests on whether Biggs' agents will be able to get background to this, or just the basic facts.
A lot will also depend on what DP does - last we saw, he was contemplating the possibility of utilising Dan as a means to forge an alliance with Cyra clan.

you'd be surprised. the animated series dumbed joker down considerably. he kills LOTS of people in the comics. regularly. unashamedly. runs them over in cars while kidnapping robin just to screw with robin's head, in fact.

you know the episode where he makes the fish all grin? that was originally a comic, and a LOT of people died in it. just about anyone who batman goes "he'll be okay" in the show died in the comic.

I'm not working with the kiddy animation Joker as my base model.

I just can't see how he can compete with a monster with actual superpowers, living for over 400 years, and the idea of atacking a city and slaughtering its inhabitants as an idea of passing the time.

*Charline hmms*  Ah yes, the tried and true technique of dispelling interest in legitimate matters by creating a sex scandal.

Kria must have access to human politics somehow...

She's in leaque with the Fae and is getting information from the human world!  It's a conspiracy!

*Charline attempts to get the attention of the press... but the next day it is revealed that Charline has been involved in a love triangle involving Charles and Jyrras!  She is discredited immediately.  And thus, the conspiracy goes on!   >:3 *

He can beat that.  Look up the Emperor Joker book.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joker_(comics)   http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mr._Mxyzptlk

Wizard magazine once did a list of villians, the Joker came out as number 1.

In the mini-series Underworld Unleashed, the Trickster remarks, "When super-villains want to scare each other, they tell Joker stories."

I hearby nominate Kria for her own, Mature-Rated spin-off comic entitled "The Kria Kronicles." Blood, guts, death, and more innuendos than you can haul away in a body bag!

Oooh where do I subscribe to that!  :P
Well, there was discussion a while ago about the possibility of a character by Max Black Rabbit appearing as a guest in DMFA.  Kria would probably fit in well with Eric Schwartz's other site.

Don't even need dialogue.  Just Kria and ZigZag expressively talking in the foreground-clearly exchanging 'interesting' stories', and Lorenda and Sabrina charging in from their respective sides, horrified expressions on their faces, for the 'SHUT UP NOW!' tackles.
...
Which results in all four of them being jammed together as the pincer-tackle meets in the middle, in turn resulting in a four way tangle on the floor.  I know ZigZag wouldn't be able to resist a fanservicely comment.

My assuption is that Kria is just being super formal, and that Jyjy isnt actually knighted.

Kria's attempt at throwing off the paparazzi/tabloid press was doomed from the beginning to do Lorenda any favors. Lorenda will always be a target since she resides with Jyrras. Even if she were to move out the hounding would continue and probably worsen as the rumor mongers would invent reasons for her leaving.

It has been noted that Lorenda has no qualms at taking out (devouring) predators, I'm rooting for her to add parasites to the dinner menu...

I second Lorenda eating the press.  If she hasn't already, I mean.  Beating the snot out of them can easily be followed by a meal.

Also: Kria amuses me.

Regarding Joker, he likely doesn't have a higher body count, probably because he doesn't care about body count. Everything is a means to an end, though what the end is can range from trying to make batman laugh, to baking a cake. The joker is actually, very, very sane, just not in the ways one might consider sanity, since he has no humanity whatsoever. For reference, in the comics he's generally regarded as super-sane.

Kria is awsome.

Joker is awesome, and is in a different fictional continuity.

TEH END

Does 'no updates on Friday' translate as 'no updates Friday to Monday' or am I missing something ?

Amber is busy. And... yes, we seem to be missing some updates. We're trying not to pressure her, since she beats herself up about it more than enough for anyone but a sadist...

Apologies, I have no wish to pressure Amber, I just thought I must have missed an announcement somewhere, I tend to miss things a fair bit, it's a useful way to balance out arrogance (knowing theres a good chance I'm wrong) but otherwise it's a pain.

It's entirely ok. I feel much the same way. ;-]

Tell you what, I'll ask her about it on the cast. *grin*

I'm assuming this is a result of the immigration thing rather than sickness or something?

That was my assumption. And, of course, I forgot to ask her on the cast. :-/

My favorite depiction of the Joker (outside of Dark Knight) was from a book of short stories I bought. He just killed a prominent artist because he hated that his work was being called "fine art". He broke into the museum and burned all of the painting, but you find out later, that he really only piled a bunch of canvas together and burned that, shipping the painting to a warehouse to sell on the black market later, which was part of a ruse to allow him to escape Arkham.

He seems insane, but will always come out ahead for it. My envisionment of the Joker in the Dark Knight would have him burning the cash in the film, but you find out the center of the pile was just paper, and he kept a couple million for himself.

My other favorite depiction was him escaping Arkham with Two-face and being asked what he was going to do. He sees a phonebook and says "I don't know, I was thinking of killing everyone who's name is a palindrome. Look, Nora Baron! You in?" *Coin Flip* "I'll Pass"
