And thus more cubi shapeshifting in action... Abel has developed a knack for squicking out Dan
Really? Dan should have seen this coming.
...then again, this is Dan we're talking about. :U

I'll never be able to look at Abel again. Although, it's good to see humor like that after the last ark.
:erk

THAT was funny!
And he still looks like himself--same old Abel.... ;)
Rawr!
Okay, now that was hilarious. Dan really walked right into that one.

Able is quite adventurous now, ain't he? :. Whatever sexuality he is, he is very secure with it.
And this is the third time we've seen "Fembel", counting that one bikini pin-up...
Just occurred to me--why is he wearing a parka? It can't be for cold weather, can it?

Base form tends to mean the basis of what one identifies as. Mainly, changing ones physical description to the point they now look like another recognizable individual. Even with bewbs, Abel still can readily be identified as Abel to anyone who knows him. However, if he was to change himself to look like say, Dan, that would be considered changing his base form.

The "trap" line is what turned this from funny to hilarious. Absolutely genius, Amber.
Also, good news on the immigration. Um, what do you mean by stuff that you need to bring over from the states? Like, stuff still at your parent's house and stuff like that?

It's an internet thing. "It's a trap!" is often posted along side a picture of a hermaphrodite.
I'm guessing the clothes are generated by shifting? Seems like moving in the twins would make the upstairs cramped while at the same time the nice man and his boys who live downstairs have left.
Short explanation: 'Traps' are guys that look like girls. This can mean by clothing, surgery, or other means. The calling of a 'trap' is usually accompanied by a picture of Admiral Ackbar from Star Wars, usually saying his famous line, "It's a Trap!"

You know, the proper response to an ambush(ie, 'trap') is, in general, to locate it's center and assault it directly, as vigorously as possible, with the aim of driving your way through. Turn the tables on the enemy and transform a defencive situation into an offencive one.
Those poor, confused adventurers.

He changed what he wanted to change in the manner he wanted to change it. If he'd wanted to change his face or hair or the external appearance of his private parts, he could have done that. I think Amber once mentioned that while a Cubi can alter his or her appearance, they cannot actually change their gender. If that's the case, Abel could play a convincing female, but could not reproduce as a female. He is still male.
In this case, why work so hard? Just move mass from the waist and shoulders to the hips and breasts. Costume complete.

Really?
If I did it right, most people wouldn't spot the errors at first glance, and it should read cleanly, but I suppose I was trying to be reasonably obvious about it, especially in a few spots I can see.
Of course, I'm so used to bad spelling I can read a horribly spelled post, like GundamDragon's, as clearly as your own, and didn't even notice his errors until you took the time to point them out. I suppose your mental mechanisms are less fault-tolerant, which I can understand might be something of a pain, and can sympathise.

Aye, mayhaps, but on the balance poor spelling shouldn't be a major issue, so long as they can serviceably convey what they wish to express. I should dearly hope that the local administration is not so anal as to engage in disciplinary action over something so farcically trivial as lazy spelling? :erk

The critical point being "serviceably convey what they wish to express"; this being a rather clearer than usual example of GundamDragons' oeuvre. We wish to... encourage him not to backslide.
Also, while it might be clear to you, it's not as clear to a) most of the rest of the forum, as judging by the various comments above, and, more importantly, b) the administration team, as judged by previous conversations I've had with them. While we don't mind people easing off on their spelling (for example, e_voyager has a tendency to slip when he's tired; we recognise that, and politely suggest to him, via PM, that he might be needing some sleep just now, when needed) GundamDragon has, in the past, evinced a lack of willingness to pony up to
his side of the bargain, as we see it. He has to make an effort to communicate, not merely spew whatever happens to flow out the front of his head. Communication involves both other people attempting to understand him, and him attempting to be understandable. I could be biased, but I feel he's not doing his part - particularly since he has proven himself capable of spelling accurately in the past. The forum isn't going anywhere; it'll wait while he breaks out a spell checker, and re-reads his post.
Suffice it to say that you've stepped in the middle of a longer conversation than is immediately apparent; I believe it started at least a half a year ago. While it looks high-handed, we've gone to some efforts, previously... And this is probably more than enough conversation on this point. I'm happy to take it up further, and explain our position to you, in great detail, but this thread isn't the place for it. *grin*
Edit:
It occurs to me, I haven't been clear.
Poor spelling is acceptable.
Lazy spelling is not, because a little effort can resolve that, whereas with poor spelling, even efforts to repair it don't help much. As long as the poster is making an effort, I'll usually let it slide...
I'm doing the best i can im not good at spelling it has always been hard.
I don't object to poor spelling, Gundam. There is a spell check button in every post; as long as you use that, I won't complain, even if the words it comes up with are obviously not the words you meant. Eleven words that the spell check chokes on in a thirty-seven word post is a little on the high side, though (and I'll grant you the two other typos as an acceptable loss).
All we ask is that you take a little time to make an effort. Not that hard, is it?

Except that's not what's in the article.
(what's in the article includes child abuse. With a hammer. The ones bringing the lawsuits are the children, now grown. It gets more spectacular from there.)
Yup. Stupid people doing stupid things. Stupid people at DHS, stupid people doing the abuse, stupid people doing the suing of DHS.
What, you thought I didn't read the article?
Also, "allegedly struck the children in the mouth with a hammer" - until Rita is convicted, it's all hearsay. Likely true, mind, but still just an allegation.

I'm doing the best i can im not good at spelling it has always been hard.
You should try getting the spell checking program that comes with the Pidgin instant messenger, which not only affects the messenger itself, but many other programs, including the text areas in the Firefox browser.
I forget what this spell checking program was called or if it could be downloaded independently from Pidgin, but it even has a convenient drop down menu with numerous suggestions for what you really meant to spell.
I just wish it also had a grammar checker like Microsoft Office Word. That would make it incredibly convenient.
Firefox already has a built-in spell checker. Any words it doesn't recognise are underlined in red, much like Microsoft Word, and you right-click on them for a list of suggestions.

That helps a bit, but if you pick the wrong words to begin with or spell them sufficiently strangely that the spellchecker guesses it's something else, you can end up with something equally illegible.

What, you thought I didn't read the article?
Actually yeah, I kinda did...since your phrasing sounded like people suing to get money for their OWN stupidity, which, while common, is nowhere near what happened. Why do you feel that the children who were beaten are stupid for bringing a lawsuit against the organization that was charged with protecting them, but failed?
In addition, not "Alleged". Rita was convicted in 2000, it just took this long for the kids to reach 18 and be able to hire their own lawyers.

When this discussion turned to Neil & Lerner Report. Lets talk about the important stuff like how sexy Abel is as a hottie gal. I love it keep up the great comedy :giggle
This whole thread can be summed up with 4 words.
"Words words words words!"

Interesting. Where in the article did it say she was convicted in 2000? Of offenses that, according to the article, occurred between September 2000 and February 2005?
My point, however, was that the article, while damning, tends to slip between alleged activities and outright fabrication, with no clear line of the difference between the two.
While the court files are acceptable, and I'm not going to suggest that the people in question aren't guilty as sin, the article is poorly, and sensationally, worded.
The stupid people I had in mind were the lawyers, however. Stupid in intention, not ability. The children probably deserve at least some compensation; how much, I leave to the courts to decide. But I'll admit to some bias, here; the antics of people on the other side of the world are hardly a suitable subject for my ire, and yet, ire there is. So my words may have been less than fully considered...

Hm? *reads again* ah, you are correct. Her sentence began in January, she was convicted in 2008 of crimes committed in 2000-2005. Very good catch!
Where is the outright fabrication, then, since I'm apparently missing that as well.
I will say that bringing up Allen Makekau about charges filed in 1953 is sensationalism, though...what does that have to do with anything, beats me. But how's your 'depths to where humans will sink' meter, eh...
So, will Dan walk in on an adventurer and a transformed Abel? :rolleyes
With regards,
Ted
PS I am prepared to utterly deny I ever posted this. :)
I'm surprised nobody has mentioned this yet, but...
Would the adventurers checking for traps use a Spot check?
Well, I was reading the backlog on this page of the thread to get a handle on what the general topic of conversation was, but apparently it is either random, or utterly tangential. I'm going to go out on a limb here and suggest that Abel is probably just yanking Dan's chain. Though, it would be interesting to see where Amber might actually take this concept.
Also, I'd hit that... really I would! Okay, obligatory guy statement made. Hmm, I can't seem to form a cogent argument... must be the music I'm listening to distracting me. Curse you A Flock Of Seagulls! Curse you!!!! You were TOO awesome!
I see your 'Flock of Seagulls' and raise you 'The Smiths'.

... Holy Flying Cow of Benzene! He's right!
Dan's hot for girl Abel!! Oh that's awesome. I'm really hoping the update keeps girl Abel, this can have some real humour value.
As far as spell checkers picking the wrong word, well, I dun need help with that.
Substitution typo - and when sufficiently distracted and/or tired, I've been known to occasionally type entire, semi-coherent sentences unrelated to what I had in mind.
Can be quite strange. Very RAMish.

Well, yes, a proper ambush offers no escape.
But, in general, if you're ambushed and can't disengage(and if they're competent, can find good ground and bring adequate forces, and are not unlucky, you won't be able to without being murdered), assaulting
through* their center is probably your best bet for survival.
*through being key - unless you can turn the tables, you still want to escape to fight another day - your best bet under most circumstances just happens to be counter-intuitive.

I don't have the excuse of talking while I type, and I don't drink, so none there, either.
