I'm not quite sure what he's got there in terms of goggles and something obscured by the flare, but wasn't that the material that reacts explosively to magic?

Ariannian Adamantite has the distinctive honor of being "bloody hard to process" as well as being hard to make useful. This gives it the "prized metal" catagory. it's an unusual material, and Thae'lith are rather adept at working it. It's a lost art these days, so processed Adamantite objects are even harder to come by.
