I'm not quite sure what he's got there in terms of goggles and something obscured by the flare, but wasn't that the material that reacts explosively to magic?

This gives it the "prized metal" catagory. it's an unusual material, and Thae'lith are rather adept at working it. It's a lost art these days, so processed Adamantite objects are even harder to come by.
