It is, if you look in the top right corner of panel 3 you can see the tip of her left headwing. And the bottom right corner of the same panel well you can see another... feature, if you will, that Devin doesn't posses.
Kill Fa'Lina does not seem like the sort of thing Fa'Lina would say. Or Ink, for that matter.
Roureem may be on to something, though. Why *did* Dee leave? If she were trying to overthrow Fa'Lina, that might explain a few things.
...though it does seem odd that she'd try to set someone up who would be guaranteed to fail at that task.
...unless, of course, she wanted the amusement of seeing that person fail.
Edit: it is also possible that Abel is simply glad that Edward took Destania away from him forever.
DESTANIAAAAAAAAA!
Just had to be said
Wow. So it was Destina that was helping him think through what he wanted to do.
So it was her! Well, it makes more sense than a Devin's ghost suddenly appearing.
Very interesting and I hope things look up for Amber ASAP!

If you're talking about Abel's Story, Edward & Dee (http://www.missmab.com/Comics/Vol_297.php) are still 300+ years in the future. She still has that long teaching Abel, Aary and others yet before then.
I first noticed the deeper blue of her fur, then the pink nose (ghost Devin's was black). Yup, Dee already tormenting the newbie. And he can't yet say "Aniz" when she asks.

Though I know were supposed to beleive that Dee is twisted and mots likley manipulating Abel to fit her own agenda, from the visit and her face I get the idea she really wants to help Abel overcome his fear and problems.
So the beginning of the 'vested interest' relationship begins.

I don't think Destania is referring to Fa'Lina. When Abel was trying to say what was keeping him from going home, he was trying to say "Aniz"... I think.
I still don't see a 'why' in this panel, if it is Destania that is. For one, Abel is in emotional quarantine, and I don't know why Destania would take an interest in him so soon after he arrives at the academy. I'm certain she has other things she should be doing. It's possible that she was drawn to Abel's emotional state(though she would have to have access to him in emotional quarantine), but that doesn't seem likely. It's a far greater possibility that she knows Aniz, which would set up definite motive, especially if they don't get along, and somehow wants to manipulate Abel against him. I certainly wouldn't put it past her considering what Abel says about her(to Dan in the queen Mab arc), and what Aniz says here (http://www.missmab.com/Comics/Ab_019.php).

No. No I don't think anyone does.
See. This is what I get for reading at 1AM. It's cleary destina. Yep yep.
*throws another theory into the trashbin.* Oh well. Now the questions bothering me are how did Destiana get into the quarantine, (Does she have access? Did she sneak in? How did she know someone was in quarantine anyway? Is that someone is there public knowledge? I'm sure Dee has some extranormal ways of gathering information, but what exactly are they, and what are the extent of her abilities.)
As for motive, yeah, she does seem to be trying to psych Abel up to do something pretty nasty to Aniz, for reasons as yet unknown, but seem to be pretty pressing. There is that liiiiiitle problem though of Aniz beying far out of Abel's league at the moment. You remember how well hitting him with a stool worked out. And finding Aniz might not be so easy. He strikes me as the sort who might try (but probably fail eventually) to keep a low profile if he thinks that Fa'Lina is mad at him. I wonder how good Abel's divinations are.
I'm not sure, but I think Destania is part of the staff at SAIA at this point.. so knowing that someone was in the emotional quarantine probably wouldn't be that hard to find out. Also, as I believe has been pointed out, Abel's current mental state would be quite the meal for her. He's full of pain and terror over what happened right now to the point where he was catatonic not but a few comics back. It must've been like the smell of a warm apple pie wafting through the school when he first arrived and it quite likely caught her attention. I say this because I don't think he was in Quarantine the whole time.

Looking at this, it seems like he was among the general populace, even if only in a lobby and only for a very brief period of time. It might have been enough to get her attention.

The question is, if Fa'Lina is so omniscient and powerful within the walls of SAIA, why would she allow Dee to do something she wouldn't like? Granted, her motives can be inscrutiable at times, but there has to be at least a tacit amount of permission if Dee didn't find some sort of invisible wall blocking her path.

The force may not be too strong with Abel, since he's only just entered the Academy.
As I see it, Destania is saying that fear is what is keeping Abel from going home, and that he should get rid of what is keeping him from going home. Therefore, she is telling him to get rid of his fear.

I don't believe that 'Cubi shapeshifting extends to making yourself translucent. IMHO, it's more likely that Abel is sleeping and she's manipulating his dreams - in which case it doesn't matter what she looks like as long as he remains asleep.
Ya, he is asleep. In the last comic he is sitting up and talking to ghost Devin, and in this one he is lying down and mumbling in his sleep.
Quote from: AndersW on December 05, 2008, 05:39:44 PMYa, he is asleep. In the last comic he is sitting up and talking to ghost Devin, and in this one he is lying down and mumbling in his sleep.
I figured he was in the fetal position and in the same state that he was in the previous strips.
Blasted montage metonymy! Making me think that a setting with similar visual cues is an identical setting.
My immediate reaction tot his comic:
HOOOO-LEEEEE SH*T.
This is because, of course, I recognized Destania right away. In regards to the quarantine, I would like to point out that it was specifically an emotional quarantine, which I would assume means nothing more than no emotions in or out, to prevent Abel's bad vibes from getting into the scool and from the tidal wave of the school's emotions slamming into him. Individuals, on the other hand, could come an go, but only with Fa'Lina's blessing. Unless Dee is actually powerful enough to be somewhat of a match for Fa'Lina (I'm talking about Dee being able to hide herself from Fa'Lina's sight), which I'm highly doubting, I can't see any way Dee could be in that room without Fa'Lina's knowledge or approval.
Now, assuming this is correct (which, I'll admit, is possible for it not to be), I am at a loss as to why Fa'Lina would be allowing this.
I don't know about anyone else, but I'm wondering now if this is going to tie into Abel's dislike of Destinia - if he found out that she was in his dream as Devin and manipulating him, etc. That would certainly color my opinion of someone, even if they were technically doing it 'for my own good'. Of course, this being Destinia, we have no idea at the moment why she's doing it, but still...

Abel said that "RIGHT NOW" he wants to be left alone. It is now "some time later." Fa'Lina's ability, and the fact that she is Destania's administrative superior, means that if Fa'Lina didn't want Destania to see Abel, she probably would have prevented it in any number of ways. It is very probable that by the events in Lost Lake, Destania and Abel have some sort of relationship, most likely positive. Maybe not "Hot for Teacher," but eh.

It doesn't necessarily mean that Abel dislikes her, but rather that Abel claims that she's evil. Abel could, of course, be lying or like evil people.
