Somehow, the more mundane but more effective methods always seem less fun.

...
Dan might have to bum some cash off of Jyrras.

And good luck with continuing the update schedule, Amber!

Or just use some of the loot he got from raiding DP's fortress...  Or go back to DP's fortress and raid for some loot to pay the bill.

'Cause nothings screams hilarity quite like using your own money to make sure you stay dead.

Actually, would it bring down his image as adventurer if he had to go to his mom to pay for his debts (since Destania is the one who hired him)?

I do wonder if adventurers look down on heroes who bribe their enemies to stay dead.

Well, there's still the chance that Dan refuses to pay

Dan didn't choose the words "at any and all costs", he just repeated them. BTW, what is the cost of canceling a ceremony? I'm sure Dan must have some treasures from previous adventures that he could liquidate if necessary... unless he's spent most already on drinking. :mowtongue

I would imagine if he has to pay for it himself he's probably going to sell most of his sword collection, least if as stated he doesn't have anything else from his more adventurous days.

I kinda hope he doesn't intend to pay, maybe she can be reasoned with.
*snerk*

But anyway, Lorenda might be able to get her to lower the price.

Well if Dan doesn't pay maybe Kria will get that fight she at first wanted before her train of thought trailed off... to other things. :3 Although Dan probably has no money at all, and seems like the kinda guy who cares too much about his stuff to sell it, or liquidate in some cases. So I see 1 of 3 things happening.
1. He chooses not to pay the money and he and Kria wind up fighting. Or Dan winds up tied to a bed as e_voyager suggests.
2. Lorenda talks Kria out of making Dan pay her money and DP is either brought back anyway right after Dan leaves, or Kria waits until later, or just plain doesn't revive him.
3. Dan decides to pay but has to bum money from somebody else. Maybe Jyrras.

"Right, here's the bill for cenceling the ceremony, cancelation fees, wasted reagents, virgin rentals, etc..."

Of course, nothing here stops her from doing it at a later date... unless Dan can get Jyrras's mom to come negotiate a contract for him.

Dan can probably find the money, but as mentioned before, ultimately it should be passed on to Biggs as expenses.  After all, if he doesn't cough up, Dan can probably get the ceremony to go ahead again.

Interesting that Kria has effectively sold her brother out, though.  Does wealth count as power to a Demon?

It may be more reasonable than that.  Kria may be horrified at the prospect of raising her brother but stuck with a massive debt if she doesn't follow through.  I suspect we'll know more on Wednesday, but Kria doesn't seem to be especially keen on doing this.

Actually, I think a more important question is why Kria's trying to rez DP to begin with. Granted they are family, but it isn't the demon's way. (after all, DP did fall to an adventurer, 3 times, so there must be some issue...)

For all we know, someone else may be getting her to do it, and if she doesn't it just means said someone else would just get another lackey to do it.

Gah. Accept, damn it!

Except is "with the exclusion of; excluding; save; but", "only; with the exception", "otherwise than; but", or, in archaic usage, "unless"

Accept, on the other hand, is "to take or receive (something offered); receive with approval or favor", "to agree or consent to; accede to", "to respond or answer affirmatively to", "to undertake the responsibility, duties, honors, etc., of", "to receive or admit formally, as to a college or club", "to accommodate or reconcile oneself to", "to regard as true or sound; believe", "to regard as normal, suitable, or usual", "to receive as to meaning; understand", "to acknowledge, by signature, as calling for payment, and thus to agree to pay, as a draft", "to receive as an adequate performance of the duty with which an officer or a committee has been charged; receive for further action", "to receive or contain (something attached, inserted, etc.)", "to receive (a transplanted organ or tissue) without adverse reaction", "to accept an invitation, gift, position, etc"

In this case, you're looking for meaning ten; to whit, "Commerce. to acknowledge, by signature, as calling for payment, and thus to agree to pay, as a draft."

Or possibly "to take or receive (something offered); receive with approval or favor"

Geh...

what gets me is she had that bill ON HAND, as though this was a regular thing that came up before.... perhaps DP stays dead so much is because someone is usually willing to pay. however if his sister is so mercinary, it beggs the question if someone hires her to do the raising, and who that would be

to be honest i thought he would not have a choice in wether or not he goes on a 'date' with the personable soulstealer woman, although by 'date' i mean' whimper naked in bed clinging to covers and trying not to look at who he is laying next to.

although, who knows, if he does not have the cash he may have to barter... or do as abel did and leave a few gigabytes of memories as payment

The invoice is probably her expenses for the ceremony so far.  It might be that DP would reimburse her when he's alive again, for example.

Blown up (or other violently destructive processes) isn't the only way to have a "remnant" of a virgin, but with a PG forum, we don't want to go down that route of discussion.

Dan could always forward the bill for ceremony cancellation to his client, Biggs (Destania), since he was hired (or at least sent) to prevent it.

One has to wonder exactly how long Kria can stay bought. I mean, she's sort of one to do things at the spur of the moment. If I were Dan (I wonder if Dan will actually do this, he doesn't always seem to think things through) I would ask for the body or something, to make sure it doesn't get raised again. (Although that assumes that the body is necessary for a resurrection, which I think is a valid assumption, given that Kria stole it prior to attempting to raise DP)

At the risk of being creepily attracted to whoever Kria may be based on, I LOVE Kria.

QuoteI'm half expecting the amount to look like a phone number. ;3

Half expecting?  After her "affair" with Jyrras I fully expect the note to include her number at the minimum, and require as much as payment in person.  (complete with directions to her personal cabin up in the mountains)

I don't think Kria is explicitly based on anyone in particular, which might make you feel a tad less creepy ;)

Didn't Mab already do something like that? (http://www.mabsland.com/ArtGroup/Priceless_MikCheets.jpg)

Oh Kria. You win so hard.

That. Was. BEAUTIFUL.

Poor Dan, for the adventurer that he is, he seems perpetually at the mercy of those more Genre-Savvy than he (http://www.missmab.com/Comics/Vol_589.php)...

He should have seen this one coming, too.

I wonder if Dan's going to forget to keep his headwings hidden after reading the bill.

I'm trying to figure out a case where you would rent a virgin.  In virgin sacrifices, for example, they tend to not come back at all...

Vestigial virgins...

yay Pratchett!

vestal virgins (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vestal_Virgin), to use the RL term.

Virginity is said to have great mystical significance in most cultures, and many rites require or, atleast, prefer virgins to perform them.

Of course, the most prefereable of virgins is the beautiful maiden... I don't suppose that a mighty daemon, summoned from the depths of tautaurus, would be appeased by the offering of a pimply overweight geek wrenched from the depths of his mother's basement... despite what their living quarters might have in common...

Thats a bit of a chep laugh but given that Dan got turnered in to a pokemon i would not count it out. In fact it would most likely be that that dose happen and that thats a real high bill plus her phone numbers on it with a coment like "Alternite payment is OK" or something like that.
