So are we all going to be communist now?

Great work.  It all fits together really well.

Well... Im a already quarter communist... or is it a half? Does it still count if my mother wasn't raised Communist?

Workers of the Word, Unite! You have naught to lose but your chains!

[EDIT]
as for the pic, I think the legs are throwing of the balance of the piece, maybe pull it down a little lower that her waist is near to the level of the fists, this will give a more solid feel and will free the upper part and give it a cleaner look.

I don't think you can be part communist... Communist is a type of Government not a nationality, I believe.

Well, you can still say that you were raised communist as much as you can say you were raised catholic.

Really, my only beef with communism is that it focuses not on equality, but equivalency. But I digress.

Concequently, my dad had a bunch of commie propaganda posters slideshow as a screen saver (Till he got ahold of a webcam and did some funky stuff with that). Some of them are really... well, there's nothing else out there like em. Especially the shiny happy chinese people ones.

Also, her pose looks a bit awkward, and loses some of it's dynamics. But the pic looks awesome overall.

Grate art, awesome. I do however agree with King, the whole figure should go lower to center itself.

On a side note, there is nothing grate or cool about communism. It is an oppressive reign of the illiterate and simple people. It is horror alive. So don't take it lightly.

found a unique use of my bloodsplatter brushes.

Edit: guys i do know you're trying to be helpful, this i know, but considering i've posted also on comicgen, infamous for being rife with nitpickers and other such critics, they're all silent.. consider yourself the first to nitpick before the pros do.
Especially you, Whitefox..  >:3

In either case, whatever critique that exists, i'll accept it, stick a pin in it like a bit of notepaper or a dead bug, whichever i feel like.. guess i'm a little twitchy after spending a day on this thing, 'tis all.

I personally think the piece is interesting to look at, and granted my eye is untrained I can't see anything wrong with it. And besides, it's stylized!

I'm actually descended from Mansheviks, the opposite of the Bolsheviks who installed the Soviet Union, and am glad my family got out before things went tits up.

Again, beautiful piece.

Actually I'd like to see some Rockwell-esque Western Propaganda styled stuff, course I'm very pro Eagleland.

Actually, I'm studying Communism in China for World Studies. I am of the mindset that Communism started off as a really good idea - the concept of equality - that developed into an oppressive and almost dystopian caricature of a government and personally I think it's freaky shit and it would be a nightmare of it was introduced into the U.S blah blah blah blah blah

TURNSKY'S A COMMIE OH NO LET'S SHUN HIM. :C

Okay, but seriously now.

Turnsky, this is FANTASTIC! I just woke up to go to school and I saw this sitting in my inbox. What a marvelous surprise to see before I run off. :) There are so many impressive technical details about this image - such as the faded poster-effect that Tapewolf pointed out - such as the fact it looks exactly like an authentic poster. I'm especially overjoyed with how you drew Keaton; she looks just like she's part of the poster and blends in well with the outstretched fists in the foreground. :3 Keaton adapts extremely well to your style, too, because good heavens she looks gorgeous.

One technical detail I love is how you made her hair spiral and cascade behind her head. She looks like a glorified effigy of herself, which is perfect for this sort of poster. The use of golden colors you used makes this even more apparent. I don't know if this was intentional or not, but I love it.

In conclusion: TURNSKY IS AWESOME. :> Thank you so much, dude! :tighthug

Preliminary designs for the Mekeaton have been completed. (http://clockworkmansion.com/forum/index.php/topic,4811.msg227686.html#msg227686) We are shortly in anticipating of a lock-down of the design and some final tweaking before mass-production begins. Design for the Keatanks commences shortly.

That's quite an effective rain technique, a bit like the woodgrain effect I used to do.  I'll have to remember it in case I ever need to do a storm like that.
I think I already said that it's a good likeness for Keaton in the 'Draw a username' thread.  Tony turned out well too.
Title: Re: Turnsky's art 2.0 - Now with extra stuff.
Post by: Mao on September 19, 2008, 10:49:53 AM
Wow, I'm not sure where to start here..

Saberthing-3:  I'm going to echo Tapewolf on that one.  I love the rain.  It has a great sense of depth to it and with the glow/mist like effect around the character it really looks good.  The sparks on the lightsaber from the rain hitting them is a nice touch.  I think the only complaint I have is that the top of the characters body seems way smaller than it should be compared to the bottom, but that's just my untrained eye.

Sketch of Tony:  I don't know the char/person but the picture gets love from me.  Though the left/back leg looks off to me.  Too small maybe?  Again, I've got an untrained eye. :<

Keats:  It's Keats.  What's not to love?  Though knowing a bit about her character I have a hard time picturing her in an outfit like that.

Well, that's all I've got.  Love the work and can't wait to see more.
Title: Re: Turnsky's art 2.0 - Now with extra stuff.
Post by: Cogidubnus on September 19, 2008, 11:05:09 AM
I'd like to echo the rain thing, and I think I've seen that particular picture before, somewhere. The sparkly effect on the lightsaber from the vaporizing waterdrops is something that makes me grin with glee at the attention to detail.

Tony looks a bit like he just woke up or something and needs some caffeine.  :U

Keaton in a dress - if this was Ren's thread or the ban game, I might shout 'heresy', but in this case I might say the emperor forgives.  :B
The dress is weird lookin', especially the skirt, and having no artistic knowledge I might say the the perspective looks cool to me (:B). I don't think I've ever imagined Keaton in a dress, though I can certainly say I think it looks very nice.

Nice Abel, but I'm not sure I like him white, makes him look like a dalmatian. All the other drawings are awesome, but my prize goes to the knight guy- supreme armor and I like how you gave it that polished look I can't still seem to get. I have just one critique to make- the knight's legs- they seem way to large for him.

The spot pattern is also a bit different to Amber's... in this it's a large number of small spots rather than a smaller number of large spots.

I like Zedd, though he looks a little more sinister than usual.  As for the knight, the legs seem to be long proportionally (I assumed Kipiru was referring to width).  That's something Ren and Keaton have problems with too, mind.
The armour is awesome.  Though the fact that the long tail is completely unprotected makes me cringe slightly.  I hope it's just ceremonial armour.

Quirks aside, it's a nice batch of art and worth the wait.

you folks are ignoring the subtle bloom effect i applied.

his base coloration is #FEF3CE, the bloom effect makes him look lighter

I never really liked bloom, I must confess.  I'm putting it down to personal taste.

I like the bloom effect and kind of envy you for knowing how to do it, but i still think the color should have been a bit more yellow...ish.

possibly your monitor brightness is too high and needs proper calibration, there's plenty of utilities of that online y'know  >:3

Or failing that, eyesight! I'm not even wearing my glasses right now (yay, squinting a little), and I can still see the 'cream' tone of Abel's fur just fine. Calibration, folks~

Oh, and Turn? Have some public huggie affection for this lovely work of violence. (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v625/Turnsky/Sketches/januscommish.jpg) :x  :hug

Yeah, I freakin' love that image of Butcher. Very nice random blood splatter effects. Great work on the coat. The little shine of the eye adds a nice touch. I wonder how many of those coats he has or if he washes a single one to perfect whiteness after every kill...   :januscat

Right, so it was the brightness of my monitor, sorry, though I still stand by the notion that it needs more mustard  :) The evil spark on the Butcher is a great touch indeed!

The Turnsky arts again!  I'll have to try to commission you again one of these days X3

And able does seem very bright.  The cream is there, though I may have to look into color calibration tools.  This monitor is too nice to let it go to bad colors :<

There is also much love for the Janus commission.  One of these days he has to tell me how to get blood out of cloths.  I have a few that still have brown splotches on them no mater how I wash them.
