Poll
Question:
Which is the best mix of the song?
Option 1: Solo
votes: 6
Option 2: Duet
votes: 1
Option 3: Get rid of the vocals altogether
votes: 0
Here I have two near-identical mixes of the same song. One of them has the vocals sung as a harmony, the other has the backup track switched off so it has just the lead vocals.
Alternatively, I could forget the whole thing and do a fully instrumental version.
So far I've asked three people - one said "solo", one said "duet" and the other hasn't replied. Hence the poll.
Here are the recordings:

I'm hoping to mix the final album next weekend, so some kind of consensus by then would be handy.
I think the solo sounds clearer.
The vocals on the duet kinda blur together in places, and make it difficult to hear the lyrics clearly.
I haven't replied cause i've been a bit busy. I'll do it in a bit, though.

Thanks. You may as well post it here now, when you have...
I prefer the Solo version. The duet sounds cluttered, and making it a instrumental would probably be a bad idea, based on the song structure.
I agree. The solo sounds a lot clearer. Mind you, I am a sucker for a good instrumental track.

Well, you're in luck. The second side is almost entirely instrumentals, including the 9-minute
A Dream of Fire and Ice, which I don't believe I have revealed yet.
The first side,
Three Little Pigs, doesn't have any pure instrumentals, though the overture only has a short vocal segment about mid-way through.
I agree with the Solo being very nice for the same reasons as the others.
I'm also very fond of instrumentals so I look forward to those songs from the new album. :januscat
