I know I started out as Proto-Slime, that was at 0 posts.
I'm now at Bat with 10 posts (11 if you count this post I guess)
I've seen regular slime in there but not sure what post count warrented that. I didn't notice it if I had that title at some point. It seems somewhere under 10 gets a slime rating as the ones I see with it now are between 6 and 10 so I'm guessing thats probably where it was achieved.
I will confirm that:
0 - Proto-Slime
5 - Slime
10 - Bat
Also, there are 36 member groups, not counting moderators.

I never understood what member groups were about. My other forum only has members and mods. (And TBK himself, a.k.a. "God").
Hmm.... well, I may make slime pretty fast, but given my current rate, it'll take a long time to get anywhere I can be "proud" of =p I don't mind having a low post count.

The mods groups are Global Mod and Skeegy Whore. Mods can also be a part of regular groups, so your list is currently morginally acurate.

On a developmental/serious forum, user groups are used in much the same way as they are in windows and *nix systems; to grant or deny certain levels of access as appropriate. It saves having to maintain multiple fora where you only want certain people to have access to certain things. For instance, one forum I belong to for a MUCK has a wizard group for the use of MUCK admin for purposes of development and such, not stuff you want the average player to be able to see, let alone post in.

Usually you have to petition to be added to a specific group. A lot of times mods/admins are the ones who have to do it.
Hmm. Would that let you create a thread in the mine, or would you only be able to post in the threads that were unlocked? :-)
I think only post in open ones. I don't think you can make threads in the mine ever, unless you're an admin.

Mostly, because that would involve recoding large chunks of the forum, and neither Damaris nor Darkmoon nor Bill nor RJ nor Amber have the free time to do such work.
At least some of them, if not all of them, lack the specialised coding skills sucha task would require.
And the number of requests for such a thing stands at 1. Which makes demand slightly lower than for, say, some of the emoticons.

Maybe it's just me, but I feel that if you explain -why- you're saying no, people may, if you're really lucky, learn something.
Of course, I'm not spending all my time working on administering the forum, so my spare energy, as it were, is a bit higher... :-)
Plus, I've looked at the code. :-) I keep meaning to have another look at it, and see if I can't hammer it into spreading the javascript out into a seperate file. And the css, if there's any of that. That sort of thing tends to lower the load on the server somewhat...
Most of the CSS should be in a separate file... but knowing some of the fixes I've had to put into it over time, I'm sure there's a couple of stray bits...
