Title: Games we look forward to.
Post by: Don on July 30, 2008, 10:52:23 PM
Well I'm bored with nothing else to do..so I was just wondering what games (if any) are people looking forward to playing in the future?

A small list of games I'm looking forward to are:

DS:
Chrono trigger.
Sonic chronicles: the dark brotherhood.
Kingdom hearts 358/2 days

Wii:
Tales of symphonia: dawn of the new world.
No more heroes 2.

Psp:
Kingdom hearts:birth by sleep.

Xbox360:
Final fantasy 13.
Mirrors edge.

I've only posted titles I'm familiar with, ill probably look at buying alot of games but only these few stand out to me at the moment..

(Edit)
I can see myself editing my list many many times by the time this thread dies..

DS
Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days

PSP
Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep

PS3
Final Fantasy XIII
Lego Batman
Star Wars The Force Unleashed

I've already got Soulcalibur IV. I just need to play it. And if they announced Final Fantasy VII for the PS3... I'd be excited. I missed it the first time around. Anyway, those are the games I'm waiting for. If I think of any more, I'll add 'em.

Well..ff7 wasn't necessarily announced..I just know its coming thanks to the ending of ff7 crisis core for psp..same with god of war 3, and no more heroes 2..I'm just guessing they'll be made prior to their endings.

looking forward to:

Diablo 3 (PC) (Blizzard says it'll be ready when it's ready, it's not like this is Duke Nukem :P )
Warhammer: Age of Reconing (PC)
Spore (PC)

I am not one with his finger on the pulse of gaming.

God of war three sounds promising..but they had better not have another sacrifice party upon its release..i will never forgive them for that..

So far, I've only got the one:

PS2
Persona 4

Nothing else is that definite, but I might pick up other games later on. I've briefly considered getting Disgaea 3 for the PS3. I'll have to see.

I've been hearing of Wolfenstein for the current consoles, and I'd sure like to try it out. Other than that, maybe Persona 4 and when it ever comes out, Grand Theft Auto V.
(Or maybe if they tried, another GTA for the PSP)

Wrath of the Lich King
Fable 2

That's about it. But really, with WoW and Civ 4 my new masters, there isn't much of a need for new games.

PC:
Warhammer Online
WoW:  WotLK.
Diablo 3
StarCraft II

PS3:
FFXIII
FFvsXIII
Disgaea III
White Knight Chronicles
Tekken 6.
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed
Persona 4 (I'll be playing it on my 3, no sense hauling out the 2 for it. :P)
God of War 3.

Many more that have been mentioned already and more that I'm not able to think of atm..  I'm kinda disappointed with games for my Wii, DS and PSP for this year.  Nothing coming out that really catches me.  Though the PSP did have the glory that is Crisis Core and God of War: Chains of Olympus, I can't say that there's anything else that's really jumped out at me.  Maybe I'm just missing something.

That ending didn't say anything about a remake.  In fact I'm pretty sure Square-Enix has gone out of their way to debunk any claims of that so far saying there's currently no plans for it. :(  Looking at Wikipedia's article (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Final_Fantasy_VII#Related_media_and_merchandise) (specifically the last two paragraphs) it doesn't seem likely that they will do a remake at this point.  Not to mention that fans have been nagging for one for ages and have been met with constant disappointment.

For those who haven't yet, check out Mirror's Edge.  It looks AMAZING!

Mercenaries 2: World in Flames
and
Red Faction: Guerrilla

Pretty much my two most-wanted now. Borderlands also looks pretty interesting. Go look 'em up on Rock, Paper, Shotgun (http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/) sometime.

Ed: Oh, and let's not forget Left 4 Dead.

Not much, right now.

DS:
Chrono trigger
Bangai-O spirits   (make things go BOOM  :boogie )

Wii
Megaman 9

I'm currently finishing a load of old games, because I never did earlier. Beyond Good and Evil, Mario galaxy, and further down the line, Tales of Symphonia and Dragon Quest VIIIZLXMCW: journey of the cursed king, the Xenosaga trilogy. It should keep me busy for the forseeable future.

O and a new game for me to look forward to.

A new one for my list:

Ratchet & Clank Future: Quest for Booty.

Well, it's been a week since they released it, and I downloaded it from the PlayStation store this afternoon, and I can safely say that this is an amazing game. Tightly written, well-designed, a bunch of new gameplay mechanics that I really hope they keep for the next game, and it ends with a cliff-hanger that left me shouting "YES!" over and over again and realizing that it'll be a year before the next game is released... which led to a brief moment of sadness. Sure it's short, but that just ramps up the excitement. Therefore, I would like to add Ratchet and Clank Future 2 to the list of games that I'm looking forward to and can't wait for.

Dang, more companies need to make these little 3-5 hour games to keep us excited about the next game in the series. Think about it: a little side-story using the same mechanics and engine that you release sometime in the middle of the year-and-a-half/two year wait until the sequel. Showcase some of the new mechanics and test out some new things, catch the mistakes before you release the big sequel, and get some feedback from the players. It'd be about $15 or the local equivalent, three to five hours of gameplay... it's like a demo taken to the next level. Everyone wins! Or I could be nuts.

a couple more games added to my list.

For PC,

Starcraft 2. (Must find out what happens next)

Master of Magic 2 (Who am I kidding, they're never gonna make a new one of these. laame)

Fall From Heaven: Ice. (Ok, so it's more of a mod, but Kael's design is awesome. Best Civ mod ever made.)

If they ever made a Planescape Torment sequel, that would be incredibly cool. I guess the NWN2 addons will have to do.

Carrier Command: Gaea Mission is a game I am quite looking forward too.

There has been quite a jump between this game and the last Carrier Command, 20 years in fact. If anyone remembers the old Atari ST game i'd be quite suprised. While it did something amazing many games have yet to follow it never really seemed to catch on.. Only a few titles pulled off what it did, namely BattleZone Combat commander and Hostile Waters.. Shame really, but after so long there is a new one being produced. Hopefully one that will prove its self to be a fantastic game.

There are two things for existing games that I'm looking forward to, and both are free-ish.

The Mother 3 Fan Translation Project (http://mother3.fobby.net) aims to translate Mother 3 (the sequel to EarthBound) to English, as the men upstairs at Nintendo decided not to localize it.  It's nearly complete.  They're doing the last of the ROM hacking and then they'll be going into the testing phase.  You can't apply the patch to the retail cartridge, but you can buy the retail cartridge, dump it, then apply the patch to the ROM dump and play it on an emulator (or get a flash cart to play on the GBA).

The other is a mod for Uplink Hacker Elite called Onlink (http://www.onlink-mod.net/).  Version 0.2.0 is being worked on now and should be finished soon eventually.  Onlink already adds a whole load of interesting new security systems and hacking methods to Uplink, and the creators of the mod are adding even more to this new upcoming version (one of them is an ex-employee of Introversion).  You have to own a copy of Uplink to be able to play this, however.  But if you do own a copy of Uplink, then this site is doubly useful as these guys have created an unofficial patch for Uplink itself, which fixes a bunch of little things.
