Recently there was a protest of the band They Might Be Giants by a Christian nut group accusing the band of being pagan. I didn't pay attention to their reasoning because I just didn't care. Can anybody answer me what is pagan about the band or it's music?
They're godless bastards.
I believe it has to do with that song about the big bang... to the christian fundamentalists, they're preaching the scientific theory of the creation of the universe instead of the theory of intelligent design.
What a crappy reason. I hate religious fanatics.
You and me both. Those friggin' Bible Thumpers make us all look bad.
Me three. You just can't regard fanatics with any seriousness.
My wife worships thor
she listens to bands where the guitarist is currently in prison for setting fire to churches
those bands rock
one of them in particular often has songs devoted to the norse, egyptian, babylonian, and occasionally even egyptian pantheons
yeah, 'whistling in the dark' is soooo pagan....
Whats so wrong with paganism in the first place?

The fact that it isn't Roman?

... you probably need to work on that. You're not obscure enough yet. ;-]
"We were once so close to heaven
Peter came out and gave us medals
Declaring us the nicest of the damned"
They clearly evil. Even though, "No, no! They Might Be Giants are not Satanists."
Dear god, I know too much about Them.
truth be told, a hefty chunk of Christians will find they're damned too. this probably puts the giants ahead in the game there
I'm also tempted to add more vaguely religious quotations from TMBG, but can't be bothered now. Curse me.
There's always tomorrow.
While we're at it can anybody think of anything pagan about The Arrogant Worms? Apparently there's controversy there too. Something about they're from Canada and Canada is a godless nation that allows blah-dee-blah-dee-blah. It was really funny though.
"Hey, last night only 10 people showed up at our concert, but tonight we have protestors! YEAH!"
I get to pick who goes to heaven and who goes to hell! :boogie
I'm gonna have a whooooole lotta room in heaven! :mwaha
*Zina takes a shot* ;)
*New Dr. Who quote* Burn with me!
Okay, it seems that people don't want them singing kids songs which somehow makes them pagan. By that theory every Sunday School class I ever went to was pagan.
Children's songs are scary and disturbing.
Just try and watch "Barney and Friends" without shuddering in horror. :eek
Even as a child I couldn't do that. It's unnatural for a T-rex to not be eating those kids.
Isn't the whole Jesus thing supposed to be about loving your neighbors and whatnot? :mowignore
Seems to me like they're doing it wrong...
