Title: PSP
Post by: Ryudo Lee on April 17, 2008, 04:58:48 PM
I went and got a PSP so that I could play FF7 Crisis Core.  I intend to get the God of War game too.  I grabbed a 1gb flash card and I've been putting music and stuff on it.  But other than that, what other games should I be looking at for my new PSP, homebrew or otherwise?

Monster Hunter Freedom 2.
FF Tactics: War of the Lions.
Star Wars Battle Front: Rogue Squadron (I think its called)

Kenji already said FFTA, but I think Worms 2 is also a pretty good game.

In addition to what Kenji's posted, don't forget to get Monster Hunter Freedom 2 and FFT: War of the Lions.

Also, Lumines.

My UMD drive has died, and I am now several kinds of glad that I've cracked my PSP, so that I can play from ISOs.**

I've heard good thing about Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters, as well.

If you like the games, Ace Combat X is good.(mid-air refueling!  HARD!)

Riviera: The Promised Land(I have the GBA version, but I'm interested in higher-resolution graphics and FULL VOICE ACTING in all cutscenes!)

Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness.

Have I mentioned that you should get FFT: War of the Lions?

Wipeout: Pulse.

I don't do much with homebrew stuff anymore, though.  Most of it wasn't terrifically good.  Also, avoid FPS games.  The PSP was not made for FPS games. The controls have much suckage as far as FPS games go.  You may be interested in the camera attachment when it arrives locally, and if you like watching movies on your PSP, you'll want to upgrade to a larger memory stick.(The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya is 1.36 GB encoded for PSP.)

**ISOs of games I own and can't play.  It makes more sense to me than shelling out another $150 for a new PSP when my current one works fine, otherwise.  Actually, I'm planning on seeing what I can do to fix the UMD drive.

This is what I have for my PSP:

1. Dynasty Warriors
2. Daxter
3. Crisis Core

Daxter is good, but ohmyfreakinggawd, you'd think at LEAST the greatest hits version would have the stupid glitches taken out. I had to start over twice at about 50% because the storyline froze and none of the characters would talk or appear..

Is Daxter really that good?  I stopped caring that series after I was supremely underwhelmed by Jak & Daxter 2.

I finished Crisis Core.  All I really have to say is that, being someone who was heavily into the FF7 scene back in the day, I am quite satisfied with this game.  I mean, you know how it's gonna end anyway, but they did it so very good.

I just gotta get some money together and get God of War, since I really enjoyed that series.

Are there any decent puzzlers out there for the PSP?

Yeah, I'd say Daxter's a nice game. If not just for the fact that Daxter's such a smart ass. :P

Don't forget the Castlevania: Dracula X Chronicles. :) It's a great game, and partially because it comes with Symphony of the Night.

Yes, I've been meaning to pick that up. Looks great, and getting bonus games for the price of 1 is always good.

Metal Gear Acid 1 & 2
Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops

Isn't MG Acid that card game they made?

And thank you, I had forgotten all about Portable Ops.
