Title: Iron Claw
Post by: Rakala on February 29, 2008, 10:07:10 AM
It has recently occured to me that I know of very few Iron Claw players. I mean I know a small group but just wondering, does anybody out there play it? Are we the only people in the whole universe who play this game?

I bought the book and looked through it, and I really didn't like the system.  So the game that I was gonna run with it, I ran on the d20 system with D&D using the Savage Species expansion, which has anthropomorphic creature rules in it.  Unfortunately, Savage Species isn't 3.5e, it's 3.0e so the conversion is always a little iffy.  But even so, I found that to be much easier to understand than the Iron Claw system.

Well the thing about it is character creation you only have to do once to really understand. But that's just me. I found the rules easier than d20 and I found the game much more fun because it has more emphasis on roleplaying than combat.

I bought the book too but have yet to get to try playing a game.  The character creation system looks neat though.

Also a minor correction... Savage Species is more like 3.25 than 3.0 since it was developed during the changeover and actually released after the main 3.5 books came out, so it's kind of a mix of both.

The system is rather unwieldy, but I played it a few times when it first came out.

I honestly found it exceedingly simple compare to most other systems. With the bonus of because there aren't actual levels a newly created character can do quite well with a long lived party.
