Since Amber is not able to offer any incentives for donating, I thought I'd chip in. As you may recall, a while ago I did a guest drawing of Dan. A lot of you really liked it, and I got a lot of people pestering me to do one of Abel. So here's my offer:
If you guys fill that donation bar all the way to the top, I'LL DRAW ABEL. Full-length, not just a wimpy upper-body shot like I did Dan. (Oh, and with less dot-like eyes.) :U
What do you say? Are you with me? :mowmeep
That's pretty awesome of you to offer that. :> I'm a little bummed that I just transfered all my money out of my paypal account yesterday, otherwise I could have tossed money Amber's way.
So in effort to help out, I'll throw my hat in as well and offer up arts if Amber makes it to her goal. Perhaps of Fa'lina or Regina. :o
That's funny. See, I just transferred all my money out of my PayPal account yesterday too. :lol
I put a bit into the Amber U.S. Invasion Visits Her Old Home Fund. :)
Not much, but I hope that it helps.
The Auld Grump
I just transfered the rest of the money from my PayPal, today. :< ...To Amber. :>
I'll chip in... on Friday... when I can afford to eat... :cry
Good of you to take the initiative on this, Cameron. I just shot over some money.
Beyond donating (gotta dig up that Paypal login from yesteryear), I've got a question for anybody from North America: Why is it so hard to migrate between Canada and the US?
When I was in Canada (99-00), I pretty much got the impression that beyond social systems and french, there's hardly anything separating the lifestyle, economy or population in the two countries. Yet the migration, residence and insurance customs seem to be rather... cold to people moving across the border. Coming from a city (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aachen) where a lot of people work while living in one of two other countries, I can't really see the reasoning.
why am I always broke on the wrong times :<, o wait...
it's never a good time to be broke... :3
sorry I'm not that useful right now. But when I do get the chance, I will donate... :rolleyes
(yay.. first comment... :intro :mowmeep)
I feel so useless right now. :< :B :<
Erf, all the money in my Paypal is already allocated to more company expenses. I'll have to see what my latest round of Pepsi items goes for. I might have a little to spare afterward if they sell for enough.
I could always volunteer for more medical studies... there's one for $5,800.
They want to stop my heart for a little while... :<
I noticed it was stated that Amber has to come back to the states every 6 months, but I didn't see mention of how long that visit has to be.
I'll take a look at my minuscule paypal and see what can be spared (and look up the destination account).
Holy Happy Ambers, :batman! Within 12 hours, Amber has hit her goal! Wow, the people here are kind, ya? Give yourselves all pats on the back! I would have donated but my landlord said he would hold onto my rent check untill friday (I would not be able to pay both him and the Cable, I sent Cable out 2 weeks ago and his out Sunday. I thought Cable had already taken theirs out but nnnoooo! x.x So was I worried both would get cashed) and yet, he cashed it yesterday, leaving me with all of 2.50 in my account. x.x
Wow, that was fast. :O
Dang.
That was over with fast. We didn't even get to see amber and the beavers get happier. They just went from sad to "justice fist away'd."
wow...
I wasn't planning on mentioning that I'd donated, but I wonder where mine ranks in terms of largest donation...
>:3
I wonder if we got enough together for her to put a down payment on a new car?
Would be sweet. |)
I knew I should've started on Abel this morning... :mowsmile
sfjsdklfhlsd...I dont know if my readers either really like me or are trying to kill me by giving me a heart attack. :U

If I had known what would have happened, I would have drawn something in advance. I was hoping to wake up this afternoon to maybe around $200-$500 at most and updating the image slightly edited with an extra beaver this evening. I had to mad scramble to make something ASAP to let peeps know it was no longer necessary. X_x

We like you! We really like you! :giggle
Yeah, the heart attacks are purely secondary. :mwaha
You know, I just now checked DMFA and noticed this. I would have sent some money too

Heh, I was expecting much the same thing, really, even though I tossed in a good amount.

What's keeping you from donating? The arbitrary fund drive being over? The starving artist could always use more moolah.
Hey Amber did you get somewhat near 800$, or is more like 1500$, oooorrr are you still calculating?

Mostly the latter. A few people sent in payments that require a bit of time to clear so I'm not 100% sure of the final tally without whipping out math which is hard since paypal will likely be narfing a small percent.
I will say this much though, with the amount sent in I will not only be able to handle the trip and any possibly troubles from it as well as smacking down a few near-ninja bills...I will also have a necessary fund-buffer to put away into a "make some damn tshirts already Amber!" fund. Part of the trip down will now be me discussing with peeps about getting shirts made up that can be sold online rather than my previous attempts which only had me selling them at conventions.
I saw this at the top, and had to share my version.
News: February? February loves you. In that "Mab upper-cuts you into Canada" kinda way.

Well, she did say she's got too much already. And I'm probably going to donate some money after all. I don't know. Blargh, I was tired when I wrote that, and I'm tired now.

From studying your work, we fans have begun to master your most powerful technique: the steamroller. >:3
Oh wow, you guys! And here I was trying to come up with a way to help today, as I have no access to giving money online, but you beat me to the punch! I'm really happy you were able to make your goal, Amber (and so quickly!).
You're such wonderful people. :3
...
:U
I don't want Amber to leave Canadia...
Kidding. Grats, Amber. We wuv you.
Any chance of seeing Wallpaper Wars after this?
A wallpaper would be nice. I haven't actually seen any active.
Maybe something involving Regina? Or maybe some cubi fanservice?

Be careful what you wish for. It'll probably involve tentacles.
I wouldn't count wallpaper wars out of the picture. The main reason I didnt do one this month is because I knew I would be out of...er...country. However I do have something planned for March.
I'm still a bit fuzzy-headed from the one-day results myself. I do admit part of me is all sad now that the donations coming in have stopped now that I put up the new sign. But considering how everyone has been so generous, it would be pretty crummy of me to abuse that and odds are some people likely think I have done so already. ^_^'
Right now though, I think I need just a day to sit and recover from the suprise. I'm incredibly overjoyed, but at the same time I need to keep my feet on the ground else I'll end up right back into a situation. X_x

it's one thing i've learnt, if one's back is to the wall, one's readers come right out to bat for ya, i for one am incredibly glad that such a bad situation for you has pretty much come to such a fast resolution.. :3
Amber, Amber, Amber... You know you should really stop underestimating your readers :P I like to think that everyone here loves both you and the comic equally and if you give a us a yell for help we WILL respond >:3
Heres to everyone who's donated you all rock!!
Here's to us now donating into the "Give Amber a Heart Attack" Fund. Canada's got free health care, Make 'em Use it!

I saw the new pic on the front page, and couldn't resist doing a small edit of my own:

FOr some reason, the counter on the front page, with amber and others as specks..I can picture 'Eeeeeee...' actually being 'Team Amber's blasting off agaaaain!' XD
These will wind up in the archives, right? I liked the original picture.
(The new one is genius, of course.)

Thank you, that had me rolling.
And now that I think about it, Amber's goal being met this fast isn't all that suprising. She's a well loved artist of a very awesome comic (that I'm guessing is pretty popular), and the goal was only 800 dollars.
My only regret is not having saved the "sad amber" pic to my pc.
even us lurkers love the amber... :mowninja
i figured now that i've come into some monies where i'm not scraping check to check, i'd help out. :3
I just realized, that's one of the only times I've had a good look at Mab's feet.
Lol, yes, was kinda surprised too. ^^ Donated a small amount thx to Paypal. But i wouldn't have expected to see you hitting the max so fast. Yay. :bunny :boogie
Whoa, nice! Unfortunately I can't brag that I donated as well, since my paypal account if pretty empty at the moment but I'm amazed this got suhc a happy end like you normally know it only from stories. Good to see the world is not completely bad :,

Thats what we wanted you to think!
We donated all this to Amber to finish throwing the US economy into a tailspin! :mwaha
The income that will no longer be spent inside US borders shall doom you all! :)
Luckily I'm from Europe, so please go ahead... :P

Woo! On the risk of sounding cliche, I'm from germany too!
Glad to hear your travel fund and bills are taken care of. Now how long do they say you have to stay in the states to satisfy the required semi-annual trip, days, weeks...?
I may mangle it but there is a saying or such about people being drawn to like people (That is, mean people draw mean people, nice people draw in nice people). You donate your time to drawing a strip that entertains us..two of them, actually (Abel's Story and DMFA) so we can donate some money when you need it. :mowhappy
I mean, if you think we are that nice, you must be as nice or nicer, ya? :boogie

If not, I do.
euro's look very neat to me. and other foreign coins. :)
How do I go about getting this kind of loyal following?
beg, bribe, and steal. ;-]
More seriously - update 3 times a week for 5 years or more. :-/
and the updates cant suck. :P
And you have to be made of at least 80% awesome, otherwise you'll just be a good comic artist without the other cool stuff.
And you have to be Canadian. :nod
You know I find it strange but alot of actors, comedians, and comic creators I like come from Canada or places that are externally similar, Washington, Oregon, and a few norther regions of North America.
Nothing from the coasts really appeals to me. Yet I live at the bottom of Louisiana( :B Yeee Haww!).
Somehow I think geography has alot to do with the entertainment I like.
Its probably just a coincidence and I'm being paranoid. |)
woot New Orleans!( i move around alot)
If I may be so bold to ask, what was the final count, Amber?
Indeed, I am curious as to that as well, Miss Williams.
