What fantasy VS games do you want to see?
My top 3:
A modern Marvel fighter that doesn't suck (maybe another Marvel VS Capcom)
wanted match up: Shin Akuma vs Spider Carnage or Blade Vs Daredevil
Marvel vs DC
wanted match up: Hulk vs Superman
Capcom vs Smash Bros.
wanted match up:
Street Fighter Alpha Ryu and Pocket fighter Ken vs Paper Mario and Vacuum Luigi
Vacuum Luigi would be totally cool. I dunno though, Metal Slug vs Marios would be odd...
Dimitri and Akuma VS Mario Bros.
Megaman and Bass versus Mario and Wario?
I hope somebody else posts this time...
Anyway, I think the only charactors that might have a problem in Capcom Vs Smash Bros. (or CapSmash if you like), are those from Resident Evil. It's that fact that RE charactors wield realistic guns unlike Fox and Samus who have lasers. Sounds stupid at first, but when you think about it, only the former is found in the average American home. Dante is on the edge of that description since his guns shoots both bullets and lightning.
I'm sure they could find some way around it.
Yes they can find a way around it. The problem is in how they do it. I'm thinking that whichever way they go there will be complaints. Cutting them out all together could lead to complaints, taking away their weapons could lead to complaints, giving them lasers could lead to complaints. I hate fanboys like that... they would only be happy if they can get Leon to mow everyone down in a blood bath.
That's not really Nintendo's speed, though.
You think HAL or Capcom would design it?
Hal would be the logical choice I think. The Smash bros. gameplay is a little more mainstream. If they go the capcom way, however, there's only a few ways they can go and all of those ways have sadly become lukewarm and stagnant. Capcom 2D will be yet another game that dusts off those ever aging Street Fighter Alpha sprites or possibly those Street Fighter 3 sprites that are about five or more years old. The Capcom 3D style is either going to be like that rather bland and uninteresting SF EX series or like the practically unknown Power Stone which resembles games like the recent Ninja Turtles, Marvel Nemesis, and a bunch of Ban Dai -anime license here- games.
Sammy Vs. Capcom
Reason: Capcom's ego is too big. Dante needs an ass-whoopin. Besides, the combat would be more fast-paced, and more killer moves will benefit the Capcom side.
I thought the "No fanboy 'this owns/ this sucks'" rule didn't need to be posted...
Konami vs. Nintendo?
Konami couldn't pull together enough all stars to make their own fighter. The Konami cast would probably have three Metal Gear bosses and that guy from Nanobreaker just to fill up the cast.
I think it's time for more top ten action...
Let's get down to the top ten for the following companies:
Sega
Capcom
Namco
Konami
Funny that three of those four have done work for nintendo recently.
I'm not familiar with a lot of Sega's stars... I mean, what do they really have that they do much with besides Sonic?
Namco isn't that much better. They have Pac Man... hrmmm...
I'll get Namco; you can have Konami.
Well... I can't really do a Namco ten for a good reason: Tekken has 40+ charactors and Soul Calibur has 25+ charactors. It's rather difficult in the case of Soul Calibur since the main charactors between games leaving no definitive "Ryu." So I'm going to try things this way:
Tekken's top 5:
1. Jin Kazama
2. Nina Williams
3. King
4. Christie Monteiro (or Eddy Gordo or possibly Tiger or all three as different costumes)
5. Hwoarang
Soul Calibur top 5:
1. Kilik
2. Cervantes
3. Knightmare/ Seigfreid
4. Sophitia
5. Seung Mina
and let's not forgot a certain charactor that goes both ways: Yoshimitsu. There's also Mokujin, Tetsujin, Combot, Unknown, Edge Master, Inferno, Charade, and Olcadan who randomly use the fighting styles of the other charactors from their respected games.
Other Namco charactors:
1. Pac-Man
2. Dig Dug
3. The Prince (from the Katamari series)
4. Kos-Mos (maybe)
Now you can go get that Konami list since I can only think of Simon Belmont and Solid Snake.
Well Obviously, much in the mold of Smash Bros, we'd have four or five CV character... let's do a top 5 of sorts:
Simon
Richter
Alucard
Dracula
Death?
Solid Snake and the couple of SS clones.
Konami man would have to be on the list, and do like SSB did, pull out Vic Viper too. That's at least a few there for ya.
Kid dracula ^_^
Oh, hey, and the Contra dudes. If you want, there's the four different characters from the Sega game.
You can't forget the Track and fiekd guys can you.
I wouldn't want a iron ball lobbed at my head or be trampled.
There's the TMNT characters, long as they have the lisence, too... and didn't they have something to do with Double Dragon, or am I getting them confused?
I think Konami just recently broke that license with the Turtles.
I dunno. I do know that the animated movie is getting a game from a different company, but that might not effect the deal for the cartoon.
I don't like the new TMNT, it is just to crappy, I prefer the early 90's version, thast and mega man, any one remember the mega man show?
I wasn't a fan of the MegaMan cartoon, but I did like the theme.
The theme were pretty much all they said was "Super fighting robot... MEGA MAN"
I liked the dark Sonic cartoon.
There were two sonic cartoons right... One that followed the comics and one pulled from a producers ass?
Yeah, one that was edgy and one that was shit.
There was also that one where Sonic had a long lost brother and sister. I could only stand watching long enough to know that that was the plot.
Never saw that one.
I miss the old TMNT. I wish the new TMNT wasn't geared for retarded kids.
I'm no Turtles fan and I haven't even been near the whole franchise since... uhhh... '96 maybe, but I can see plain as day that the new show is not even in the same hemisphere as the old one. Who is that show targeting if the action is too much for five year olds, but the writing is along the lines of Nick Jr. (minus the part where someone actually learns something)?
Seriously. They totally missed the mark. They should have realized that the prime majority of fans are still fans, and making a show that respects the fandom, not insults their intelligence, would be the right way to go...
But then, Next Mutations made the same mistake, so it's pretty obvious the people in charge of the franchise haven't got two shits worth of brains.
These days it's about selling those little toys, and entertainment levels have been sacrificed at the Temple "R" Us just to make sure those sales stay where they need to be. Even the first two episodes of Beast Wars Transformers reaked of the horrible funk of advertisement. A decade later we now have the entire transformers show devoted to redundant name dropping and transformation sequences that replace the time that once was filled with actual charactor moments and plot.
anyway... Turtles Vs the MGS3 bosses.
Rock and Roll Racing vs RC Pro Am.
That was an unexpected choice.
I hate to say it, but I'm not picturing a real A-list for team Konami.
Square Enix vs. Smash Bros.
wanted match: any Cid vs. Fox
Dancer vs Jigglypuff?
Lost Vikings vs. Maniac Mansion
Richter Vs. batman
Solid Snake vs. The Flash
no not solid snake, Big Boss he'd kick the crap out of flash.
Flash vs Flash Gordon
Ninja turtles Vs. Power rangers
Who are your Square-Enix favorites? All things considered... many charactors from the Final Fantasy could easily have additional costume charactors. Dragoons, summoners, black/white/red/blue mages, knights, ninjas, and samurai are all job classes that have shown up plenty of times.
Blue mage Vs Mega Man Vs Kirby Vs Mokujin
I actually prefer the Red mage to the Blue mage.
I would say an idea teamup would be Red Mage vs Link vs Vile. It's a nice diversity, and each has their strengths the others don't have. Link is great at up close, with some limited ranged attacks. Red is betetr at ranged, but he can do up close. Vile is the weakest up close, but he could possibly fly, and he's got great range.
Damn... have no idea who vile is.
Villain from Mega Man X
I wonder if they might go for another Mega Man collection soon. I know that collection would logically have Mega Man Legends and probably some random crap like checkers or whatever useless titles they put MM in.
...I just got the first collection by the way, so it will be a while before I can seriously go after the X collection.
Of the two, the X collection is the one I'm more intrested in.
As for the random Collection, I wouldn't doubt it eventually coming out. They still have Mega Man Soccer to release. I hated the Legends games though. Sluggish controls made that game totally unplayable for me.
Yoshi vs. godzilla vs. peniszilla
I wanna see the Peniszilla Edition of Rampage!
Why is it so few get involved in these threads?
Anyway, whatever the game, I think there should be some kind of profile area so we know where everybody is from. I can't imagine that everyone who would buy the game would know every charactor.
Sorta like what they did with the trophy area in Smash Bros?
Hey that was cool It brouht back all of those old nes games I used to and still play... ( plays Excite Bike)

Sorta like what they did with the trophy area in Smash Bros?
Similar yes. All I need is a pic and a paragraph or two about who the hell some of these people are. Marvel Vs Capcom 2 had 56 charactors, and I'll be damned if I knew them all. Even a small data box located on the charactor select screen would be appreciated so long as they could list the game of origin.
Yeah, that makes sense.
Actually, with the sucess of Smash Bros, I'm just amazed there haven't been MORE huge crossover fighting games.
There was DreamMix TV and Namco x Capcom. I don't rightly recall either being in the local stores though...
Yeah, they weren't big releases... I'd expect more BIG releases.
...capcom fighting jam...
yeah... there hasn't been any big ones.
And even if Capcom had been a big a release, they are whores for fighting games. It wouldn't really count as part of this new way of games.
Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 had more capcom charactors the capcom fighting jam did. That alone is an obvious problem. Considering how much is offered from more modern games by way of combatants, 30 seems to be a minimum for any fantasy battle if it comes from capcom or namco.
I'd expect at least 50 if the game is 2D.
Seriously, I don't know how Nintendo can do anything less than DOUBLE the roster from SSBM for the next game. What with costume changes/duplicate characters, the Big N can easily find a way to double what they already set out with.
Oh sure. Obvious charactors like Wario, Daisy, Diddy Kong, and K. Rool are only a start. They could break the MvsC2 record of 56 without breaking a sweat. I'm pretty sure we all already discussed SSB Revo before, haven't we?
the new TMNT was targeted to retarded people on the basis that they wouldn't have aired it if it wasn't. i mean, have you seen the remakes of some new anime? all crap! lol. oh, and i happen to agree about konami's lacking numbers thing, very smart. since yu gi oh was already taken by Jump Superstars and sucks in there, too.
Dmoon: I dunno if we have or not, man...
But yeah, I will grant that Nintendo could jump the number of characters. It's matter of keeping it all fresh, though. Too many retreads would be lame.
Look at the mario series.
New characters from the mario series? Well... What, Boo and Koopa are about the only two non retreads that would actually work well as characters in SSB
I'd personally like a Shy Guy.
Dmoon: Fair enough.
I still wanna see Kid Icarus as a playable character. That and the balloon fighter. Those two would be interesting, I think.
What about team combination attacks? They're good fun. Not like that Marvel Vs. Capcom stuff where everybody just does their regular moves at the same time, though- something different.
good thinking.
first of all, MvC shoves everything into an all-force-in-one shot. How i see it, a fighting game needs combined, sequential attacks like one after the other combos, not all in one. that is why mervel vs. capcom is so broken. because they forced too much combos into one, and they made infinite combos for practically every chraracter. here is what i believe should be in there:
Customizable Combos by way of a universal button combination (from GGX, the RC)
Sequential Special attacks. EX: one special sets up for the next, which happens right after.
Escapable specials- come on. if specials are unescapable, that is so cheap if you can just keep doing that special. hence the elimination of infinite combos.
Defensive advantages- BURST, or recovery (GGX)
Multiple People per team-MVC this is for good reason. Combos of chracters should be greatly emphasized because of morals those characters have in story modes. but that is not from MVC, however. at least maximize the effeciency of the combination specials.
And one button taunts- mashers need to be mocked.
My complaint was that the "team moves" are just everybody doing their regular moves at the same time. I'm talking about charactors doing something different as a team move like launching a team member or holding the enemy down while your friends kick them in sensitive places. MvC just had tandem attacks.
And I don't see why any fantasy fighter has to have the makings of a Guilty Gear game just to avoid infinite combos. Sure Iron Man and Cable were whores in MvC but to avoid such cheap gameplay, a game only needs to avoid giving charactors cheap moves to prevent 100-hit combo orgies.
i'm not asking for makings, but more of references. lol. and you are right, cable and war machine suck, cause they're so broken, it's like wtf? but avoiding of infinite combos is essential to making a game a challenging one. not like guilty gear has all the ultimate stuff, it has its infinite combos. all i ask is that the fantasy game be so fast-paced, beatdowns will be two-sided, not one, unlike all of the previous fighters. oh, and taunt buttons should be assigned, too. just to get mashers to stop mashing.
Well the most obvious one would be Bowser teaming up with Luigi or Mario, and doing the Mario Toss (ala Super Mario RPG). Combos like that that relate to the character would be awesome.
Of course, it depends on what game we're gonan discuss in detail as to what combos we can really get into. Street Fighter combos would be different than SSB.
When SF had team moves in Ex3, only a few moves actually qualified as team techniques while the rest were just tandem attacks. I didn't like how Ryu could only do a move with Ken and most everyone else didn't have the ability at all. I think it would be nice if everyone had something universal, and maybe a few charactors like Mario and Luigi or Ryu and Ken would have those little partner exclusive moves.
Come D'Moon lets use Our exclusive team attack
*sits down and eats a sandwich*
(masturbates on Illy P's face)
I dunno what this team attack did, but I feel more relaxed.
Ridley Vs. Andross

I'm going to take a cold shower now.................
Serge vs Chrono
Kid Vs Male
Lucia vs Magus
Fate vs Lavos
Lol. Guilty Gear would show some interesting combinations...
Sol's aerial Tyrant Rave + Ky's Ride the Lightning
Faust's Kageroshi (the special with the four chests) + if the othe rplayer guesses wrong, your other chracter attacks from the chosen chest
Pretty funny how things'll work considering how games are beginning to show some challenges. Much unlike the SC series.
What are twelve or something? You seem so oblivious...
Nintendogs vs. Pokemon :januscat
Nintendogs vs Mortal Kombat.
