Title: The Kangaroo Rat that Roared ...
Post by: kaskar on April 14, 2007, 04:38:54 AM
A  Kangaroo - Rat seems to be a major figure ( in the plot line ) .  Not only is he under surveilence from the creature council, but also is a figure behind 'patches', Lorenda's various plotlines, and what of all that nasty military  equipment in his place . What the council doesn't know can hurt them .  Seems that if they try to put the pressure on him, he can pack a punch if needed  Also, what would happen if attack Death bringers were sent out in packs like with the mows ? Agast !

well, here's a fun fact
These little guys (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kangaroo_Rat)

are the mascots to The British 7th Armored Division (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_7th_Armoured_Division) known also as "the desert rats" so they do have a distinction in battle  :P

Er... no, if you follow the link to the Army unit, it mentions that the shoulder patch is actually a jerboa (a local North African critter), not a kangaroo rat (a North American critter). The two look alike only because of convergent evolution — they live in similar environments.

Yes, Jyrras as Muad'Dib, spaced out on spice, and riding a sand worm, a leader to all . Also , remember , all the mental powers that Maud'Dib had ? ( isn't everyone a bit mental ? ) But what would Amber do with this ? Apart from his adaptive genius in making things , ( still suits now ? ) , where do you find a working still suit on me-bay ?

Bye the way, what is it with his fear of family, remember , " I must not fear, fear is the little death ...   " , or is that not applicable to embarresing family or social occasions ?

I hope everyone notices that in the cast page, Jyrras has very blue eyes . A sign of the spice, maybe ? Also, if he needs an idiot hero friend to help out,  remember, Dan is an Adventurer . Almost perfect for the part . Also, can Dan shape shift to make himself less conspicious ? I wonder ?

You know, there's a difference between having stupid speculation for fun and taking stupid speculation seriously.  I'm still in the former.

I think Dan is more fit for the part of Muad'Dib--he's the one with prophecies surrounding him and he's the one with otherworldly powers, and Dan is the one that they can't see.

I'm not sure what part the idiot hero friend is.  Duncan Idaho wasn't stupid, and though I can see a little bit of that in Gurney, he wasn't with Muad'Dib for most of the plot.

bye the way, if you ever watched Dune, the mother gives birth to an undersized girl due to spice and other reasons, then odds are Jyrras's mother comes up with one in her pregnancy. (thought I'd forgot that ) , and so Jyrras will no longer be the baby of the family .

Honestly, I only mentioned it since the paragraph describing the Muad'Dib, the animal, is pretty much the North American Kangaroo Rat.

Edit your last post.

You're not supposed to post in reply to your old post.  It's a basic method to keep people from keeping a thread on life support that no one else cares about.  I'm not necessarily saying that no one cares about this thread, but in general.

I want to be a part of the forum community, which means at least scanning the recent threads.  If there's one thread that winds up being just one guy talking to himself, I'm going to get annoyed.

Perhaps it's time to add a rule explicitly banning double posting?

We could. We've found that we (the admins) get ignored that way. We prefer to be explicit, and precise, and not-very-subtle-at-all, because it means we don't get misunderstandings.

With some people, who have repeatedly shown themselves capable of understanding subtle direction, we're subtle.

In kaskars place, we've been through the subtle nudges, several times, and he hasn't paid a blind bit of notice to something on the order of, if I remember correctly, 4 or 5 gentle "suggestions". So we're being blunt, because he's reached the stage where we stop being gentle, and start being blunt. After that, we stop caring, and start banning.

After all, it's not like we're being -paid- to keep up with all the posts that you guys put in here, are we? Hmmm?

I don't see what the problem is my good chaps.  Even though the comment isn't in perfect order I find that to be a trivial problem.  The poor bloke goes and reposts and attempts to nice and actually comprehend what you are saying.  Sadly it appears as if you just can't deal with his mental deficiency.  Double posting is a minor problem, spelling and using nonsensical words is much worse.  Ahaha, well I guess some people get worked up over the smallest things... It's clear where and what the post is supposed to be because I speak fluent retardese.

A comparison of age and origins would be interesting.  I must admit that at first I assumed it was an influx of people for whom English was a second language, but that would seem not to be the case.

Perhaps it is something that comes in waves, or perhaps it's just a natural tendency to spot the problem cases more than the normal ones.

I blame IM and text messaging.  When I write, I take the time to revise what I have written.  With IM, you don't have time to revise, so you wind up using poor grammar, and the volume of text messaging simply reinforces it.

It's dangerous to use English alone.  Take this (http://www.amazon.com/Warriners-English-Grammar-Composition-Course/dp/0153118008).

It seems even in dmfa, that Jyrras is becoming a more dominant character. Seems that Dan is too much involved in playing with Abel, that Mab needs a new Adventurer to play with . Is it a case of move over Dan, come forth, adventurer Jy-Jy !!  (  Then again , it was just going on a hiking adventure, but to Mab, she always wants someone to play with ... )

This time though,  Jy - Jy will probably be fighting off the killer mows, while Pip Grrrs ... on , and Azlan with Pyroduck, make smart cracks  on how he should do it with real style, and how  they are supervising jy-jy in the fine art of being a warrior . I wonder If the Amazon outfit from #04 turn up, even though Jy-Jy does not have the same traits as Dan .

Is this the time to wait and watch him in his finest hour, our will he be Smothered in a bad case of " cute " ? Of course, we we have to remember that Mab has a hammerlock on Jy's throat to go on adventure ...     Killer Mab now ?

Retrograde Update 27/04/07      ( Apologies for double post due to the fact that the old page seems to be full )
( Subject: temporary theft of Jy'-Jy's cutsie eye gimmick, and other gimmicks to use in future )

With Mab now stealing Jy's cutsie eye gimmick, what gimmick will Jy - Jy now use ? One of his personal achievments has been the development of the patch . While Jy's first transformation with a patch was a dud, in theory at least one of the creature combinations should work. The cool, over lit, transformation sequence would be a standard that would set him apart . Something to give him the mark of a true hero ...

(Possible future problem: What if Mab want a flashy patch too ?)

Maybe he will use the continue-on-with-life-as-usual-because-this-is-a-comic-damnit gimmick.

Maybe Kaskar will use the "Stop posting useless things" gimmick.
