I can't say that I'm that surprised that Bernadette is set up to become a regular, what with people here getting all brainwashed by the boobies and her being more of a stand-out character. However, neither can I say that I think Jyrras and Bern' would be anything but a laughable idea. Cute, but laughable. >:D

For those of you who are saying that Lorenda is thinking of playing matchmaker with Jyrras and Bernadette....
While it is a very valid theory, bear in mind that the gender of the person who dumped Bernadette hasn't been mentioned yet. The date could be male or female :P if the date is male, then I am wrong and will graciously admit so. I wouldn't be surprised if I was wrong, anyways. However, if the date is female, therefore making Bernadette a lesbian (or at least bisexual, in which case my theory is debunk. I am assuming lesbian for the purpose of this scenario) then here's how I imagine the scenario to play out.
Lorenda introduces Bernadette to Jyrras, and then in typical match-maker fashion, slinks off somewhere
Scenario path 1: Bernadette and Jyrras are actually former colleagues and recognize each other right away, saying "Wow, it's been awhile" and stuff like that. This is not the scenario I think is most likely. But I could definately be wrong.
Scenario path 2: Bernadette and Jyrras get to know each other a bit or see through Lorenda's ploy. Friendly conversation occurs.
After either path, Bernadette walks up to Lorenda and says "Thank you for introducing/reuniting me to/with Jyrras. However, he's not my type." Lorenda, out of curiousity, asks what is her type, to which Bernadette replies "You are." Much awkwardness develops, and Lorenda finds herself terrified of Bernadette and not returning her feelings.
However, I will admit this is alot of inferring just from the fact that the gender of Bernadette's date was never mentioned. Again, I am probably wrong, but I like to explore possible threads, anyways.
Bernadette paid for the date? That's the first clue how things were going.
Then we will find out Jyrras doesn't have a thing for large girls per se. :) (Jyrras and Photophie, per chance?)

Atleast that was my first thought. Upon re-reading the strip though I realized that gender was indeed never specified, ere-go perhaps one Lorenda is planning to do a set-up.
And if that's the case then perhaps when she tries to set-up a date, it's still misconstrued.
Still though, I stand by my previous judgement. Interesting...

As I said, I was exploring one possible path. My line of thought is that fashion and patches can go hand-in-hand. There's no in-comic evidence to demonstrate this, but that's why I make
theories :P

Anyways, I'm not actually sure that Lorenda's thinking of setting Bernadette on a blind date with Jyrras. However, it is the only route of action I can think of.
Besides being hungry. Lorenda only seems to eat people that threaten her, or actively annoy her. Unless you mean taking Bernadette on a dinner not-date in an attempt to postpone the discussion with Jyrras so she can think up a better solution?

I am going with the idea of Lorenda going out with Jyrras on a 'date' and try to make it an awkward one only to have it backfired and they both had a great time and putting them in a more awkward situation.
I'm thinking the same scenaro with that look on Lorenda face it reminds me when my wife has that look which first she wants 1.to boink me or 2. she has something devoius in mind for Jyrass. But the theory of Lorenda being bi or lez that's another door that is opened just a bit to make me think. 1. Bernadette did not metion the sex of her date that leaves the speculation if she is bi or lez at this point. In any case I think it will be some sort of ploy of Lorenda's doing to go out with Bernadette a girls night out and not including Jyrass making him sweating him out of him and Lorenda, and I have this feeling this girls night out will end up either the two of them locking lips or Bernadette ditching Lorenda for another person.
My thoughts

Oddly enough, my thought was that Lorenda would invite 'Dette and her friend out for a "girl's night out" (or worse, a 'misery journey') in hopes of somehow turning around each other's luck. Which would, of course, either lead to them both being rejected, or everyone in the bar assuming that they were a couple...

What if Bernie is put up as a guest at Lorenda's shack . How does it go from there, apart from Deebs, and her estranged brother, also made in the labs . ( re: check' I'll stick to mechanical and electrical things now, and Jyrras gets a big shock, giving life to Deebs brother ... ) . Jyrras can turn up , and Lorenda can retreat to a discreat distastance to become aquainted . Or else, at least have someone else to talk to apart from jy-jy
But the whole situation can be resolved with a talk or something very weird that can happen but those two need a talk honestly how long will Jy-Jy will avoid Lorenda.
In any case a talk is needed with Jy-Jy is interested in Abel he has to let Lorenda know about that.
Let us think ! What other under-represented do we still not have to do some dirty work ? Maybe Alexi ? Does good work with a mallet . Bernie with Abel probably wouldn't work, but be a nice night out . any idea's ?

Amazons are a loaded gun waiting to misfire and blow out the brains of the readers with action-packed, plot-twist threaded bullets... or in a less macabre way of saying it: The amazons could lead dan+crew on a new fun mini adventure with plenty of actin and plot twists.
Maybe set Bernie onto Abel. Abel often brags about how he turned seclusion into an artform at SAIA
Why not have an ambush where Bernie gets Abel, after Wildy and Dan secretly tie him down on his bed ? Remember his reaction with the spider ? May be sneak Abel over to Wildy's ? Is this the type of homework in the beginners class of pain and passion, when you are an outside student ?

This comic could use some Amozonian Characters. We were hoping to see them from the 1st comic strip ... Is this a case of Miss Mab deliberatly sabotaging the plot to her own favor, like with the lamp when her glen blew up, or the tree and pyroduck ...
Well technically Alexsi's biological mom was an amazon. So yea we have had an amazon in the comic so far. With super smashing with large mallet abilities no less. :)

Heh, don't take it personally.
I have an amazing ability to recall things like that, but unfortunately it only works on things which I find entertaining such as song lyrics or DMFA. Things which are truly important I'll forget in an instant...
