The upgrades will likely take only a few hours, and hopefully we will have all of the bugs worked out prior to the actual upgrade, meaning no broken bits!

The forum upgrade went smoothly, and took approximately half an hour, as mentioned, rather than the upwards of 1-2 hours expected/feared.
You guys shouldn't notice a thing, mostly. There are a couple of minor details that should be broght to your attention.
One, Damaris mentioned, which was the personal options changing - there are now a few extra options, one of which has defaulted to on - that being, "Receive reply notification only for the first unread reply."
This shouldn't affect anyone, apart from those actually using notifications. Note that this should probably be left as it is, unless you have a good reason to change it.
Two, there are a couple of new themes in the themes collection, and the default SMF theme has been updated. However, we haven't updated the DMFA or Inverted Dungeon (forum default) themes. Yet.
Watch this space. Or, indeed, almost any other space, since we'll try to keep you updated when we do make changes. For the moment, we're going to drop back and play about on the test forum, so don't hold your breath.
I'm going to assume you've noticed that people (or at least just me) can't use the "mark as read" button in the forums without an error.
Please, don't. I never use that button, so...
I'll have a look and see what's changed with that.

The default theme (and classic, and babylon) now use a sesc variable - the old code didn't.
So, for the moment, that functionality is broken. As is the jump-to-new-posts feature. :-/
Whilst I don't use the former, I -do- use the latter, so I now have a(nother) strong incentive to get the other half of the update sorted out. :-)
I'll do what I can, but there's upwards of 4 copies of 4000+ lines of code to sort through, and they've changed from using tables to using divs, so it's not exactly straightforward.

If it works, let me know, and I'll roll it across the other themes.

Given there are a total of 3 people using that particular theme, I'm, ah, going to politely ignore it for the moment. :-)

I've noticed a lack of spell check functionality in the RP area. The text does not display nor does it seem to register anything. This problem is present in Firefox 1.5.0.9, IE 6 and IE 7. Likely nothing major.

We're looking into it, but it's not exactly simple. (they've changed the js and css that the html references as a result of the php that we get to see. Oh, and the html has moved from v3.2 to v4.0, and changed from using tables to using divs. You wanna look at the code, sure, but...)

I don't know if it's related to the upgrade (or if it's been mentioned before - it's kinda late and I'm not going to check all incarnations of this thread right now), but some of the thread icons are gone. The Yappity thread and Secret Santa seem to lack one of their icons when you check the forum they are in. Apparently, this image (http://clockworkmansion.com/forum/Themes/DMFA/images/topic/veryhot_post_sticky.gif) is missing in the DMFA theme at least.
It's not exactly an urgent issue, though ^^;
and some.. or one.. of the icons (for the dmfa theme at least) are missing... as far as i can tell, since i don't have any unread messages right now, it's the read message icon.
Okay, I'm having a minor problem with the CVRPG Classic theme. If I go to a member page and click "Show general statistics for this member." then I have to highlight the bars on the graph. They're the same color as the background.
I had this issue before; just thought I'd mention it.
That's probably because I made the images wrong. I'll look into it later once all the skins are ready for me to tinker with.

Yes, that would work, although now that I look more closely, the system seems to have done a relatively sensible job of not interpreting them. When I first checked it, it seemed to have just swallowed them - which did not make me a happy bunny as you can tell from the post.

Yes, actually. Just set http://clockworkmansion.com/forum/index.php as your forum start page. Leaving out the "www" part seems to do the trick. Yes, that means that whenever you follow the link from the DMFA site, stuff goes weird (from what I saw at least - encountered this in the university comp. pool a while ago and fixed it by simply not following that link anymore)

IIRC someone at The Register coined the word 'wonk' to replace 'www'. Apparently everyone they tried it on was able to guess what it meant without asking, the only snag being it sounds too much like something else.
German comes in handy there. We (basically) just pronounce the acronym the way you'd pronounce "veh veh veh" ;)

Just took me ten minutes to get the forum to load. Tried from my bookmark, from the CVRPG site, and ffrom DMFA as well. Got either the stanard IE message about connecting to the internet, or a funky page saying it couldn't be accessed because the index page was missing.

Just so you all know, our server company does occasionally have issues. It's not something you can really avoid on the internet. Thankfully, this group is rather speedy about fixes, unlike some companies we've seen and/or worked with.

Unless you're testing with the DMFA theme, it will remain broken for the moment - basically, I'm screwing about with that one, and no others, until I'm happy we've got it sorted. once we've got it sorted, I'll upload those changes to all the various themes, and at -that- point, your spelling will start working. I think. Unless something else is broken.

Limited size tags are not a priority right now. Small is never going to happen again, as I hate them, and have recieved complaints from many people about them.

I have no issue with small being gone, and I found it kinda annoying, myself.
But without smallcaps, we can never quote Death! They aren't that small, either; they're the size of the lowercase letters.
smallcaps isn't a bbc code that is supported by the forum. While it might be possible to hack it someday far, far in the future, it's not one that is easily added.
We'll discuss it in the admin forum, but I'm really not the hugest fan of hacking things- they have a tendancy to break more easily the more you adujust them. And while we do have a wonderful box of coding, I don't want to drive him over the edge, as he should probably try to get some sleep every now and again (which last I checked, he wasn't).
Incidentally, there's a bug in the polls I'm working on that almost nobody will have seen - this is why I haven't done a full copy out to the other themes.
Just in case anyone was wondering.
