Title: Who bought what.
Post by: ninjannihilator on November 20, 2006, 09:27:07 PM
Long list of options but I was just curious to know what everybody bought this weekend or will buy.

I was able to snag a Wii. I camped outside of Best Buy for sixteen hours with a cold that I caught on Thursday. Other than the cold camping out was extremely fun even though I didn't sleep all night. I was the 49th person (out of 102) to get a Wii at Best Buy. By the time they opened up there were more people than Wii's. If you didn't show up before six you were out of luck.

Anyways I'd also like people to post how they got their console.

100% of those polled, walked into the store as it opened and got a Wii...  :mowninja

Wow... I almost wish I hadn't donated that $200 to my old school. Almost... But it was worth it, I'll buy the Wii after I get Christmas and birthday money.

I bought a gun, so I could shoot all the people who planned to sell their wiis and ps3s at an outrageous price to needy christmas shoppers.

Yay, Amber posted on my blog. Seems like a majority of people weren't able or didn't want to get anything yet.

personally I'm waitiing for two things:

- the brazilian X360 drops down to a good price
- Wii's details on independent game development functions are revealed

both Wii and 360 seem great consoles to me in their own ways, so If I have enough money I mayget them both

Im waiting for at least a year so I could get a good stockpile of games to base my decision on. That and Banpresto's decision to release the next line of the "Super Robot Wars" series.

Right now "Metal Wolf Chaos" is making me lean at the X-box if only for the chance to play the role of a US President.

Well, the PS3 and the Wii didn't come out here yet, so picking up either console would've been hard :P

Might get a X360 when Bioshock comes out and lives up to the high expectations (plus maybe two or three other good games I'm forgot right now, but I think Bioshock is the last of them, so it's the deciding factor), and I'll most likely get a Wii in the first 2007 quarter.

PS3? Sorry, but no. It'll come out in March/April (or so they say), it'll cost more than my Mac Mini had cost, and I currently see no must-have PS3-exclusive game for me. I might reconsider it once it gets a radical price-cut and has a few really great games I couldn't live without.

None of the above, for I live in England!

And I don't have the money or interest for an X360. :P

So am I. Does any of the options in the poll cover that?

I think "I don't live in the US/Japan" is the catch-all for any system other than the 360, which MUST be worldwide at this point or i'll scream like a little girly D:

I put my vote under 'walked in and got one,' but I actually got my Wii yesterday via Amazon.com.  I have no interest in waiting in lines for a new console, so that is really the only way I was going to get one at launch... fortunately I was able to get a preorder.

Who is winning the race to game number 5?
I take it xbox appears to be out of the running since they had a whole year of title releases without you getting it. :P

Me, I wanna be getting a Wii for christmas, have to wait till December for it to come out in Europe, it's so shy. :<

me too, I voted on "I'm waiting for games" one, specially because none of them launched here so far. We're waiting for December  for both X360 and Wii, while the PS3 doesn't show any sign of possible launch so far. I'm more excited for the X360 launch tho, because the games will cost half than Wii's :U

voted as waiting.

there's only one game in the projected line up for the PS3 that I am interested in, FF XIII, which is due out in 2007 (and 2008, apparently, for a different version or some such)

I havn't seen anything on x360 that thrills me, nor on the wii, but I havn't looked too hard at any of the three consoles' lineups.

Umm, I think you made a mistake, I don't see an option for, "I upgraded my computer."  anywhere up there.

That would be unfair, as computers are vastly superior gaming platforms. ;)

No hurting here, I agree :P Though to be fair, the really awesomely insane graphics cards cost at least as much as a Wii.

Same here.

Wii: Mario galaxy, Metroid, Zelda, Smash bros, Wii sports, virtual console tidbits (like Gunstar Heroes(sweet, sweet firepower)).

Yep, 5 games or more. The Wii shall be mine!

Xbox360. Ehm... Gears of war, maybe? Xbox360's library is still very limited. Mostly sports games and WW2-themed shooters, it seems.

PS3: ...  no.

I plan on getting a WII in about 6 months and a XBOX 360 sometime next year... I'll buy a PS3 when they have worked all the bugs out of the system in two years or so.

Curses, I lost my chance to get an XBox 360 for $100 from Amazon.com :cry

On the bright side, that's $100 towards the Wii, whenever the second shipment is.

I'll get Wii as soon as the mobs clear up.

X-box 360 bothers me since I don't even know if the game I want to play from the original X-box made the jump, or if I could find that game for that matter. I've already forgotten what new stuff I would have wanted for 360, so obviously there's little I'm excited about.

Does me owning a 360 for nearly a whole summer count?

It was the fastest I've ever spent $427 in my life. Then I bought Oblivion, and I now have no moneys for Gears of War, so all I can do is drool...
That and wait for Halo3, since I am a big Halo fan.  And I'm probably not going to get a PS3 for quite a few years, despite its ability to download and run Linux (which is pretty much its only selling factor so far imo).

A Wii on the other hand, once I get the cash and can say the name without laughing, is something I do wish to own someday.

you need an "other" option. I'm not buying a wii for a while, seeing as I'm busy with college.
