Eventually, I will for titles such as MGS4, FFXIII, and DMC4. But at the moment I simply am cannot afford a PS3.
So, I was wondering who here on the boards were getting a PS3: on launch, this Christmas, later, or just have no reason to get one.
I do have a reason not to get one, Wii :D

If I was to get one this year, it would be after I bought a Wii. I'm going to have to camp out at my local BestBuy to get one at launch.
If the price drops enough in a year or two I might get one, but untill then I'm going to play with a Wii.
I'll go "Wii60" long before I go for the PS3. It's the same problem the first X-box had: only four good games for any one person to enjoy (multi-platform games aside).
I've already got a 360 - and after I get a Wii, there's very, very little reason for me to get a PS3, really.
I could care less about PS3 from here and now...Or even 30 years from now...It can be left in the dark for my likeing
Seems like most people won't buy a PS3. Seems like Nintendo might take first place again. The Xbox 360 is selling worse than the original Xbox at this point in its lifespan. It barely sold 6 million units at this point in time. As long as Gears of War doesn't sell the system, Nintendo has a chance to dominate the market again.
Technically, Nintendo already still dominates the market, considering how the DS is outselling every other system.
Nonetheless, I won't be worrying about PS3 whatsoever unless the price for the better of the 2 versions go no higher in price than $250. I -might- go as high as $300. But nothing doing with that $600 crap. Not as if any games I want are planned for it yet, anyways.
Even if I did want one, I can't get it before Christmas. Or else evil Sony would sue whoever sold it to me.

Not until I see a major price drop. I cannot justify buying the unit at it's current $600 price tag. I'll stick with the Wii60 option, thank you.
(BTW, I don't know how much this counts for anything with everyone here, but I actually own an HDTV. Not 1080p, only 720p/1080i, but still, I'm 23, I'm a gamer, and I've got an HDTV. It's even got a built-in tuner. I'm in the highest-priority market for Sony and Microsoft, and look which consoles I'm favoring. Start sweating, Sony.)

Ditto... except the "23" part. >.>
Eh, I'll pass. Too expensive at any rate. I figure it will be like the X-Box to me, where only a few games interested me, so I just went to friends' places to play them.
Just give me a Wii and I'll be a happy kitty. :3
I'll get one eventually, but first I have to recover my original collection. The pre-Atari 2600 systems (Odyssey, Channel F, Studio II) through Nintendo 64 or so. I really wish I hadn't had to sell all those off.. *sigh*
I figure I'll have a PS3 around the time the PS5 is out.

:erk Oh my god I just understood that joke now. :nono
:bunnycry
Didn't those pun jokes die a long time ago.
I'm sorry, I had to. I don't deserve to live now so I'll just go emo in the corner. Better yet make it the bathtub, with a toaster...
Actually, seeing as now we have a chance... I think I'll have one of them famous muffins you guys always talk about >> <<
I'm getting a new mini PS2, if it drops to 99$. It should at least once the PS3 comes out.
Well, I'm not buying something that will cost as much as buying the other two consoles would...
I rather use the PS3 as a poptart cooker
Well, I'm living in a console third world sector, just like RJ. So we won't even get the PS3 this year.
But even if we got it, I wouldn't buy it. 600 Euros for a console simply is too much. Especially when there is no "MUST HAVE!" game for my tastes.
I'll get a Wii first, and possibly a 360 next year (once Bioshock is out, assuming that it will be as awesome as it looks like).
PS3... not if Sony continues like this. They messed up in so many ways, I almost lost count. If they want me to buy their console and games, they will need to drop the price below 300-400 Euro (for the uncrippled version) AND show me a few games that genuinely make me want to get the PS3. Oh, and I better not hear any news about the PS3 screwing over customers with something similar to the Rootkit CD disaster. >_>
highly unlikely. apparently Sony is the only one to show zero interest in bringing gaming to Brazil, even tho only MS seems to have decent plans, since they're making a bunch of suspense and had already launched X360 in one or two other Latin countries, Wii has been announced for being the same price of an import PS3 :<
I'm more towards the Wii, but depending on what, I may pick up a X360 first, and then on a very obscure possibility will get a PS3 still before the next consoles launches

Not me.
Much too expensive, Sony thinks us Europeans "like to wait"(we don't), Sony thinks it's console is worth getting a second job for (it isn't), Sony thinks rootkits are acceptable to do unto your customers (they aren't), and I hate Sony and I will pirate whatever they try to market, if I like it enough.
If Sony can't convince gamers which are probably the only people who will shell out $500/600+ for a console. They are in for some dark times. Maybe we won't see a PS4. :mwaha

Arrgh matey! That's the spirit! :mwaha
i belive that, instead of wasting my money, i'll save my $600 for my trip to Australia.
Even if you did want one, I think they're going to be almost impossible to find until next year due to the massive shortages. The Xbox 360 had fairly heavy shortages as well, but I had no problem preordering one of those online from Gamestop and getting it at launch, unlike the PS3.
Personally, I'm probably going to wait at least a year or more for a price drop or a really good exclusive (besides, I just caved in for a PS2 last month!). I'm planning on getting a Wii when it releases though - the latest iteration of Zelda is looking awesome :)
If I bought one, I'd feel dirty to be honest. It seems like buying into the same old malaise that the Playstation 2 brought me. I haven't honestly come across that many truly memorable games on the PS2 at all, there were one or two but eh. I learned my lesson after that.
On the other hand, I can get true ingenuity, a new way to play and a company that doesn't make me feel slimy, for a much cheaper price.
So no PS3 for me.
I've gained a new love for Nintendo products lately, though. I got myself a Max Media Dock and it's been a genuinely damned enjoyable experience. FreeDoom and ScummVM on the DS are just worth it and it seems that LucasArts games were just designed to be played on a DS, Sam & Max plays stupendously well.
So I'm secretly hoping, muchly so, that a number of previously PC only adventure devs will actually be knocking together a few adventures for the Wii.
