Title: Dark Messiah!
Post by: HealingBlight on October 24, 2006, 06:18:35 AM
This comes out for me on the 27th and I'm wondering if anyone is getting their grubby little mitts on it too? And is anyone interested in the multiplayer? :3

I don't keep up with gaming news as much as I think I do... though the title sounds familiar...  :B

We wants the precious!   :eager
Honestly, if I can find a way, I'll be getting it ASAP. I'm a sucker for FPS RPG games.  :3

I can hardly spare the time thanks to Nightfall... but I've always loved the Might & Magic series, ever since my code mercenary days on MM3.

Well, it's good to see that they're moving away from the 'Hydra-party' adventuring style from the early Might and Magics (anyone remember MM9? *shudders*).

The demo was decent.  I just hope that nobody goes in expecting it to be something that it isn't.  Expect Prey, in a fantasy flavour, with interesting environments dedicated to bouts of highly irresponsible kicking.  It can be a tad patronising too from what I've heard.

The thing is though, that aside, it genuinely is a pretty good game.  The trick to it is though is that it isn't an RPG.  It's a damned good game, it's just more of a first-person action adventure game more than anything else.

Sort of like Uru was more rampant tourism and slumming in alien dimensions than it was Myth brain busting.  Needless to say, I'm really looking forward to Uru Live but I digress.

There'll be some people going in there expecting to get something and they'll receive somethig else entirely.

Don't expect anything other than a shooter on rails and you'll be in for an enjoyable evening or two, it seems.

Hmm, I see what you mean.

I don't have a problem with that, really.

What I do have a problem with is games that won't freaking work.  :banghead

I've been trying a few hours now to make the damn thing work, and I can't even get into the first level that was in the demo. :compbash

Patches, give me patches!  D:<

I'm really looking forward to getting my multiplayer on, maybe with some of you lot? :P

:U Praise Sekhmet, I got it to work!

The only solution left, of course, was the one that worked.  Appearantly Dark Messiah goes insane if you try to use, for example, default settings for my computer (most things on high, HDR, etc), when I don't have a $3,000 powerhouse of a machine. After setting pretty much everything to medium, it runs perfect, aside from a little hiccup whenever it first loads a chapter.  But that's bearable, considering it was crashing Windows completely before.

Appearantly they need to tweak the graphic quality something serious, because I can run Oblivion quite nicely.  A lot of other people with similar setups as mine are having this issue.

Anyway, I shall now commence decorating Menelag's house with the corpses of my enemies.    :3

Fundamentally broken, If I'm lucky enough for it to make its way trough it's 5 minute loading screen without locking up the comp, I'll be lucky enough to load a save game without crashing, then lucky enough to get 30 consecutive frames without hiccupping and sound problems, then to make it 5 steps without it crashing after more hiccups and lag.
The MP does 'function' and by 'function' I mean I can kill my way to lv 8 of a class without much problem before I have to deal with the following error message:

How helpful.

This is how important it is to release by November. And apparently, they already patched it, without solving the performance problems

:U Error messages like that make baby Jesus cry.

But yes, I know what you mean.  My system doesn't seem to like it at all when I try to do complex combat manuvers when using daggers.  The patch helped some, but I still crash and burn and die.  :<

Well, if the error message HELPED, then I don't mind, but this helps NOTHING. :P
