Title: [Epsilon Chapter 56]
Post by: Starcat5 on May 07, 2026, 09:10:07 PM
56-01 - Playing truant

To reference an old turn of phrase, the left paw and right paw are comparing notes, but the right tentacle wing is under radio blackout. In other news, pour one out for the office door, taken before its time.

One wonders what the left wing tentacle is doing in this scenario...

In this scenario? That would be the Avatar currently messing with The Professor.

Hold up, I thought we were talking about Syd and Sheila's unsanctioned skiving?

No no, you're right. I should have reread my original post.  :mowdizzy

56-02 - There are some people you really don't want to hear saying "I don't know"

I'd love to know how he came to that conclusion- I didn't see the two wayward students anywhere near Daxxon or Lady Finch.

56-04 - In which we almost found out what the Epsilon Project actually is

And in which we finally get a mention of Cyra's own Prince Daniel.

56-05 - What the Epsilon Project actually is

So the Epsilon Project is a PTSD Generator. All they have to do is evoke it, and every Cubi in the room will curl up in the fetal position begging for a mercy that they know will never come. This is officially a "If there is even a 1% chance that it'll be used we must treat it as an absolute certainty" situation. Daryil is right. This is cursed treasure of the highest order. Cursed, irradiated, and covered in some sort of toxic dust. The only correct response is to calculate "Minimum Safe Distance" while boarding a spaceship on the exact opposite side of the planet.

56-06 - Ear scritches work especially well on 'Cubi

Is this future-DMFA-plotline sourced from somewhere?

Is this future-DMFA-plotline sourced from somewhere?

The "dragons created 'Cubi" thing was a fan theory post from way back that lodged in my head because even if it's not true, it plays perfectly into Jakob's world-view of the dragons wanting to get rid of his kind.

Amber has often said that the ending of DMFA would leave several races extinct, and the Biggs-Destania coalition are definitely trying to do that.  It looks to be Mab-the-character's plan too.

I did at one point ask Amber for some vague steer in what a post-DMFA world might look like because if the 'Cubi were eliminated or if Tri-Wings stopped being a thing as part of some great reset, it would have nixed the plan for Project Future.

Taking what I was advised then with what we have learned since, it seems likely that Destania's plan will succeed to some extent - but it is worth keeping in mind that I asked my question almost two decades ago and the planned ending may have changed over time.  But I can say that with Biggs having fae-given powers, altering things so that the dragons all die or are forced to flee the dimension becomes within the scope of his abilities.

If that ending does change, Project Future will be an alternate timeline very similar to the original.

If the dragons disappear for a different reason, you'd probably get away with going back and altering a few word balloons.
