I'll have to go through the links page at some point as it's way out of date. For now, I've added a link in a new section under the "Finished backstories" list, but if there's a better place for it I'm open to suggestions.

Nah. There was too much personality behind that reply. My bits are on her being piloted by a soul. Meaning she is harder to trick, at the cost of reaction time and having a survival instinct that can override orders.

TBF Daryil, under the same circumstances, it was only word choice giving the mind-controller the opportunity to reveal it glibly that stopped the guy next to you in the middle of doling out the same fate to Ash, so that might be a little stones in glass houses when it comes to the Prof.
That Anja bought it on herself is 100% true though.

If you mean Chapter 26 of Project Future, that was actually Jakob who went ballistic, and he was hurting Ashley rather than killing him outright. Daryil would likely have stopped him if he had tried, though it would have broken his cover.

But the Professor is both old school and small minded, which hampers his book smarts and big ambitions. He simply isn't wise or flexible enough to see more than the one path towards his chosen goal.

Well, it's definitely going to be a blow, and they're likely to have a bunch of serious conversations in the future - but right now, they have bigger problems - i.e. The Professor.
