Next problem, at least one of the group is bad at keeping secrets, and this is a big one.
However, given the power boost needed to get them there they could be quite far away from their home planet, even if the dragons knew to look in space, that's a big area to search.

Yeah. It's because even the bit of the orb facing us is rounded, so the shadow would be warped a bit by that curve.
