Well, this is going to be fun.
Princess: "I want to marry a prince. I'm supposed to marry a prince! That's why I wait in this tower like all the books say."
King: "I could always MAKE them a prince..."
Princess, sobbing: "It's not the same!"
King, sadly: "No, not really..."
"Prince Phoenix" does have rather a nice ring to it though >:3
I had been wondering about this since I first saw the exposition (http://dhscomix.com/comics/comic.php?v=39&p=5) of the "tradition." Sort of wish I'd said something so that I could have claimed to have called it. At least, Paige seems to have realized that "Phoenix" didn't realize, so that's better than if she hadn't. Right now, I sort of get the impression her plan had been "get home; talk escort into marriage; reign!"

I don't know, blushy as she is, it doesn't seem to bother her too much that she hasn't got a prince du sang. I expect the objections are mostly going to come from Claw's end. (The shipper in me says she wouldn't object under different circumstances; then again, that imp says all sorts of things.)
