Title: [Info Thread] Authors
Post by: Gareeku on August 08, 2006, 08:17:54 PM
Since we have an artist info thread, I thought it was unfair that we writers, poets and authors didn't have our own thread, as the criteria in the artist thread didn't have stuff for writers. Therefore, as you can see, I created this thread for the writers of these forums.

Your Name: Gary Higgs (I dont like my last name D:)
Your Author Name (If you have one): Gareeku
How long have you been writing: Since I started school.
Have you taken any writing classes: No, unless you count the english lessons I used to have in school.
If yes, what kind: N/A
What is your favorite thing to write: Poems and Action/adventure/fantasy stories.
What is your LEAST favorite thing to write: Romance, plus mystery stories and other stuff that requires intelligence, because I don't have enough to write stuff like that. >_>
What Is your favorite novel: Currently "Angels and Demons" by Dan Brown.
Who is your favourite author/poet: Favourite poet would be Wilfred Owen. Favourite Author? I currently don't have one. >_>
Is Writing going to be in your future as a career: Probably not, unless you count reports.
What's your favorite genre of writing (poetry or prose, fiction or non-fiction, fantasy/romance/mystery etc.): Prose, fiction, fantasy/action/mystery.
Where do you get your inspiration: Usually from my over-active imagination. Even at work, a lot of the time I'm imagining possible storylines, characters etc.
Have you ever been paid to write: No, and I probably never will.
Is there anything you see yourself never writing: Erotica, just because I feel like a dirty perv whenever I think about writing it. D:
Anything else you want to say about your writing: I love writing. Seriously. Considering my over-active imagination, its great to see it being melded into stories which I vastly enjoy writingIt needs vast improvement! D:

Your Author Name (If you have one): Thosd Suthainn

Title: Re: Author Info Thread
Post by: Tezkat on August 11, 2006, 08:00:29 PM
Your Name: I usually publish works under my real name. I've published short fiction on the net under various pseudonyms, but not all of it is material to which I want to be attached.  :mowninja I have yet to publish anything as Tezkat (unless you count RP posts).
How long have you been writing: For fun? Since elementary school. Seriously? Since university.
Have you taken any writing classes: Yes.
If yes, what kind: Besides English classes, I've attended a number of worshops on both writing techniques and getting my work published.
What is your favourite thing to write: Sci-fi and fantasy.
What is your LEAST favorite thing to write: Mushy stuff.  :mowtongue
What Is your favourite novel: Depends on my mood...
Who is your favourite author/poet: Currently Robert J. Sawyer.
Is Writing going to be in your future as a career: There are few jobs out there in which writing skills don't play a role. I have seriously considered writing full-time, though...
What's your favorite genre of writing (poetry or prose, fiction or non-fiction, fantasy/romance/mystery etc.): Prose, both fiction and non fiction, I like all sorts of genres depending on my mood, but my stack of sci-fi and fantasy novels is almost large enough to collapse under its own gravity...
Where do you get your inspiration: Life, the universe, everything...
Have you ever been paid to write: Yes. Not for fiction, unfortunately...
Is there anything you see yourself never writing: No.
Anything else you want to say about your writing: I really love the R&D phase of writing. I learn so much while researching a story, and worldbuilding is one of my true loves.

Bob Salvatore has this great line about writing: "If you can quit, then quit. If you can't quit, then you're a writer." Honestly, despite my love for writing, I sometimes wish I could just turn off those spinning gears and quit. Much more so than any other form of art, writing requires consistency and dedication; you really do have to sit down in front of the computer and write every single day if you want to get anywhere. So far, I haven't been able to produce anything longer than a novella (20000 words, give or take) before feeling the grind. I have yet to finish a novel; I'm more suited to writing shorter works strung together by an overarching story line (or longer works broken up into discrete chunks).

Post by: Xss on August 13, 2006, 07:48:52 AM
Your Name: I won't put my real one here B3.
Your Author Name (If you have one): The same than above.
How long have you been writing: Seriously? For 4 years I'll say.
Have you taken any writing classes: No
What is your favorite thing to write: Buf! Normally I would say "fantastic/horror", but I have a "weird" way of working. To make things short, I just wait for inspiration, and sometimes I end up with ideas of stories I never thought about before...For example I have an idea of a mix of "romance/thriller/heroic fantasy" (yeah, weird  :erk). So I say "I just writte the stories which end up in my brain, whatever they are".
What is your LEAST favorite thing to write: I don't think I'll do an essai about the history of philosophy, or something like that!  xD
What Is your favorite novel: Dunno...Pet Semetary?
Who is your favourite author/poet: I hate poetry XD...Otherwise, I like S.king and Lovecraft.
Is Writing going to be in your future as a career: I would like...But all that are childish dreams, it will never happen!
What's your favorite genre of writing (poetry or prose, fiction or non-fiction, fantasy/romance/mystery etc.): Eeeep?! That's almost the same question than one above?  :laugh
Where do you get your inspiration: My way of working says "you don't get inspiration, don't try to catch it, just let inspiration come and knock ar your door, because when it happens you really have something good"...RRhem ahem, well, at least it works with me XD. Last inspiration I get was from a dream I had.
Have you ever been paid to write: I would like that to happen...I guess it will never happen.
Is there anything you see yourself never writing: That stupid essai about the history of philosophy!  :laugh
Anything else you want to say about your writing: Er...I'm still dreaming I'll be published one day, even if my writing sucks!  :mowdizzy

Post by: Hilary on August 30, 2006, 12:06:04 AM
Your Name: Hilary Wheeless
How long have you been writing: I've only realized how much I really love it in the last three or four years.
Have you taken any classes: No, (unless you count normal English classes) but I've read lots of books on writing.
What is your favorite thing to write about: Poems and fantasy, the supernatural. Awesome people in awesomer surroundings who are going through a lot of crap that they have to sort out before I leave them alone. Also, I might just be feeling random. I have a poem about the painting of a crow in the dentist's office silently singing along to a country song... yeah. Profound stuff like that. ><
What is your LEAST favorite thing to write about: Depends on when ya ask me. Right now, Civics and Economics is looking pretty evil. ;)
What Is your favorite novel: I've got three: 1) Twilight by Stephenie Meyer, The Bartimaeus Series, and the Maximum Ride series. MR is the only book that has wrenched a fanfic out of me. :3
Who is your favourite author/poet: Poe. Definitely.
Is Writing going to be in your future as a career: Probably not, but it's not totally out of the picture.
What's your favorite genre of writing (poetry or prose, fiction or non-fiction, fantasy/romance/mystery etc.): I'm a sucker for a stupid sweet romance... I love that and fantasy best. /Twilight/ is an amazing combination... just amazing.
Where do you get your inspiration: The randomest places. Most recently Rowne's toaster comment (toaster or communication device? YES!)-- that's going to work its way into my story (with due acknowledgement, of course :)). Things like that.
Is there anything you see yourself never writing: Never say never... >:3
Have you ever been paid to write: Nah.
Anything else you want to say about your writing: I've got a DA thing (http://aethelwolfess.deviantart.com/) with some poetry... and Julia Cameron's The Right to Write has been, and still is being, massively helpful. And das' about it.

Post by: Aisha deCabre on September 05, 2006, 12:20:36 AM
Your Name: Amber Harding

Your Author Name (If you have one)?: Here, it's Aisha...on Fanfiction.net and Fictionpress.net it's "Singer of Time"...on a few other sites I've been featured on, it's "OrcaCaller"...but as for pen name IRL, I'd probably go with a variation of my own name, such as "A. Dawn" (Dawn's my middle name).

How long have you been writing?: Since I've done creative writing things in Elementary school...but really taking writing as a hobby began in 9th grade.

Have you taken any writing classes?: Nope...unless you count English classes.  I reckon I don't need them. :p

What is your favorite thing to write?: Fantasy and Scifi, because those things aren't based on reality and your imagination can be let loose so easily.  I've dappled in Horror, too.  Fanfictions are interesting to write, but, I only do those at a minimum.

What is your LEAST favorite thing to write?: Things that ARE based in reality...such as autobiographical stories (October Sky is an example).  When I read, I like to escape my world...same when I write.

What Is your favorite novel?: Currently it's Eragon...but I love the Shannara novels, the Uprising novels, and the ever-classic Lord of the Rings novels...slowly getting into the Nightcreature novels as well.

Who is your favourite author/poet?: No favorite poets really...but I've a few favorite authors: Terry Brooks, Christopher Paolini, David Brin, and K.A. Applegate.

Is Writing going to be in your future as a career?: Not a career, really...probably more of a hobby thing.  But I aim to publish a few stories at least.

What's your favorite genre of writing (poetry or prose, fiction or non-fiction, fantasy/romance/mystery etc.)?: Fiction, and again, Fantasy/Scifi. :p

Where do you get your inspiration?: From other books, though I try not to copy from stories...just use them as guides for my own improvement.  I also have a fascination with mythology the world over, the elements, the paranormal...and of course, nature and its creatures, from which most of my stories are derived.

Have you ever been paid to write?: Nope...but maybe someday.

Is there anything you see yourself never writing?: An autobiography.  xD Erotica too...my books won't go anywhere over Pg-13 for that...and if they do go to an M rating, it would be because of violence...I can be VERY descriptive.  Romance is in that same picture...I'm a romantic, but I'm not tragic-sappy.  No war stories or political-satire, either.  Sorry, George Orwell fans.   :P

Anything else you want to say about your writing:  Only that I hope I can bring myself to showing some writings off here...as all I've ever really shown here would be visual artwork.   :rolleyes

Who is your favorite author/poet: Favorite Author? Hard to say, Piers Anthony, Ben Bova and Anna MaAcfay all have special places in my heat.
Is Writing going to be in your future as a career: Probably not, im looking to be a programmer by trade.
What's your favorite genre of writing (poetry or prose, fiction or non-fiction, fantasy/romance/mystery etc.): Prose, emotion irking poem's and shorts stories.
Where do you get your inspiration: from my twisted past and darken soul. I alson had the fact that I read a lot of everything when I was younger the thank.
Have you ever been paid to write: No, but  one of my poems "the dreamer" i think i called it was published by ChAMP or so I was told. That sad thing is that they did not ask me to publish it they just did after I read it at a collage welcoming ceremony.
Is there anything you see yourself never writing: continuity, complete thought and story line plots that are easy to understand. Whatever is on my time at the mind makes it into my writing. It's as simple as that. I will often write a poem or a story based on one line or on word that has struck my interest at the time. My mind is like that
Anything else you want to say about your writing: I really enjoy writing but not 1/10 of my flights of fancy makes it to the light of day.

Is there anything you see yourself never writing: Fanfics, horrible, horrible fanfics.
Anything else you want to say about your writing: I try and make them really twisted and such, but yet try and keep the interest up, A.A is more humour based than Dark and Light. Dark and Light is more philosophical and finding the meaning of life. For some reason, i find my own books really interesting, :D

Post by: Tilvan the Storyweaver on February 20, 2007, 02:23:15 AM
Your Name: Eh... I'll keep it to myself for the moment.

Your Author Name (If you have one)?: Tilvan the Storyweaver, name is stolen from a character in my writings.

How long have you been writing?: Since 6th grade, so about 4-5 years.

Have you taken any writing classes?: Yes, I took a CTY (Center for Talented Youth) course on writing but it was almost all focused on Non-fiction or non prose so it didn't do much.

What is your favorite thing to write?: Fantasy, High Fantasy to be exact.  I'm kind of a romantic at heart so my writing always has that touch to it.

What is your LEAST favorite thing to write?: Non-fiction and non-prose, it just doesn't flow for me.

What Is your favorite novel?: I love to many books for one favorite but I would have to say that it would be the Dragonlance series, the Forgotten Realms series, and the Lord of the Rings (and I am very aware that FR and Dragonlance are done by dozens of different authors).  But I also love fanfiction and there are several fanfics that are just as good if not better than most novels.

Who is your favorite author/poet?: Well... the ones who inspired me to write are both authors from FF.net.  Daneel Rush and Foxie-sama were my real inspirations for writing and they are who I want my writing to be on par with some day.

Is Writing going to be in your future as a career?: Without a doubt, it has always been my dream to be a published author.  I want it more than anything.

What's your favorite genre of writing (poetry or prose, fiction or non-fiction, fantasy/romance/mystery etc.)?:Prose; Fiction; Fantasy

Where do you get your inspiration?: From my friends and our games of Dungeons and Dragons.  It will also occasionally just hit me from nowhere.

Have you ever been paid to write?: No, though I would love to be.

Is there anything you see yourself never writing?: Non-fiction, can't stand it.  Poetry to, though I am working to get better at writing song lyrics for my various bards.

Anything else you want to say about your writing: Not really, just that almost every character I come up with was originally one of my friends or my Dungeons and Dragons character.

Your Name: Rather not say.
Your Author Name (If you have one): Cogidubnus
How long have you been writing: I started writing abominable BOF fanfiction about six years ago, and been writing ever since.
Have you taken any writing classes: Yes, but nothing really formal. A few one-hour crash courses on good methods. The thing that sticks out most is "Never start a story with the words 'He didn't know if he was dead or not.'" And, don't write Adam and Eve mystery-scifi thrillers.
If yes, what kind: As I said, a few classes here and there. Good stuff, I suppose.
What is your favorite thing to write: Whatever the Muse decides to put in my brain. From experience, probably short stories.
What is your LEAST favorite thing to write: Probably transitions. That, and although this isn't really a part of writing, when you forget something important, like a secondary character. For three or four chapters.
What is your favorite novel: I honestly couldn't tell you. Some favorites are "The Lord of the Rings", obviously, "Red Moon and Black Mountain", the Wheel of Time series, and many forgotten realms novels.
Who is your favourite author/poet: Again, your narrow choices are alien to my thought. In the corner of Prose we have C.S. Lewis, Tolkien, Matthew Stover, Richard Lee Byers, R.A. Salvatore, and probably a few others I'm forgetting. In the Poetry corner we have Keats, Shelley, Poe, Wilde, Housman, and Frost.
Is Writing going to be in your future as a career: With luck. At the very least, I hope to make English a part of my career.
What's your favorite genre of writing (poetry or prose, fiction or non-fiction, fantasy/romance/mystery etc.): Curse you for making me choose one! I'll have to go with Prose, fantasy.
Where do you get your inspiration: Music, my mind, life, and deep thought (my compatriots call it contemplating my navel).
Have you ever been paid to write: Are you kidding?
Is there anything you see yourself never writing: Porn. Porn and writing are mutually exclusive to me. Just the way I'm wired.
Anything else you want to say about your writing: Beware, for I write EXPOSITION, far too often and too much.

What is your LEAST favorite thing to write: Romance, stuff like that.
What Is your favorite novel: Oooo, hard one. I think, either the Space Wolf Omnibus or Raymond E. Feist's Rift War Saga, Magician
Who is your favourite author/poet: Raymond E. Feist, and David Gemmel #2
Is Writing going to be in your future as a career: If I have anything to stay about!
What's your favorite genre of writing: fantasy, Sci-fi and WW1 & 2
Where do you get your inspiration: My own mind put in the mood by Slipknot, Linkin Park, Incubus, Korn, Weird Al and Tim Minchin. Books too.
Have you ever been paid to write: One day, one day.
Is there anything you see yourself never writing: Romance, Religious, etc, etc.
Anything else you want to say about your writing: Any helpful criticism and such is very welcome. And oneday, it will make me rich, all side my programming and Ancient Civilisations knowledge!

Your Name: Michael (Not saying last name at this time, Yay paranoia)

What is your favorite thing to write: Anything people are interested in reading, I've done some crazy stuff.

What is your LEAST favorite thing to write: Poems, but I still do them well.

What Is your favorite novel: I would have to say the "War of the Ancients" trilogy

Who is your favourite author/poet: I have chosen not to have one

Is Writing going to be in your future as a career: It is very possible with the reviews I have gotten. Time to test them here

What's your favorite genre of writing (poetry or prose, fiction or non-fiction, fantasy/romance/mystery etc.): Fantasy, the shaping of ones mind into his or her own world astonishes me.

Where do you get your inspiration: Over active imagination, the ability to immerse myself in litteraly anything (Ever play rock paper scissors with yourself for 10 hours? Thats dedication. I lost 8 games >.>)

Have you ever been paid to write: Yes, my friend needed help on an extra credit project, and I was willing to help him out for a price and some recognition.

Is there anything you see yourself never writing: I have done everything, Erotica once(that turned into crap though because I got distracted with another plot)

Anything else you want to say about your writing: I have the ability to lie all the time. It shows im my wrighting, you can always identify me as a character in a story because I just have to immerse myself further.  I feel what I create is an art, and my art brings joy to me when people like to read it.

I aploligize for spacing it all out, it was annoying for me to read otherwise.

How long have you been writing: Long time now. Yeeahs and yeeahs. I'll go with about 5 1/2 yeeahs, back in 6th Grade when I wrote that 9/11 poem (second only to the crush of my life's poem? I forget who exactly beat me now)
Have you taken any writing classes: Not yet, but for 1 semester next year...
If yes, what kind: Creative Writing honors
What is your favorite thing to write: Easily, Fantasy, Dramatic depression-induced Stream-of-consciousness
What is your LEAST favorite thing to write: ...I honestly can't think of much--oh yeah, Historical fiction
What is your favorite novel: Far too hard to just pick one; Time Cat is a favorite of my youth, also obligatory Harry Potters, Inheritance trilogy (Eragon), Pendragon series, Artemis Fowl series, The Audacity of Hope, The Sound and the Fury (OMG)
Who is your favorite poet: Mm....e.e. cummings is one, I suppose--his grammar-less cynicism injections are always enjoyable; plus, one of his poems was set to music by Eric Whitacre, SQUEEEE~~!!!
Favorite author: Mmmm, that's and even harder one...I like the authors of the series I mentioned, plus William Falkner (Sound) and Barack Obama (that's right, you know you love it)
Is writing going to be in your future as a career: Not likely, aside from maybe writing code. Or writing song lyrics, if that's where I may happen to end up...
What's your favorite genre of writing (poetry or prose, fiction or non-fiction, fantasy/romance/mystery etc.): Of course I said Fantasy, but I also still love general fiction, Mystery (especially techie ones), Sci-Fi, Realistic fic.,
Where do you get your inspiration: Mostly from inside my own head
Have you ever been paid to write: No, never entered any contests, so I can't win any moneys.
Is there anything you see yourself never writing: Only Nothing. That's right, I see myself never writing Nothing. I've written in many different genres now, spanning from Realistic fiction to Fantasy & Sci-fi to Poetry & Prose (don't remember exactly what that is atm, but I'm sure I've written it) all the way to Fanfic-ky things, V., Role-plays, and......Stream-of-consciousness XD
Anything else you want to say about your writing: I've come to love the stream-of-consciousness style of writing, thanks SO much Mr. Faulkner for making my brain even more malfunct. X3 As such, I've been recently attempting to write a lot in that style; sometimes it's gone OK, other times it...well, there really hasn't been any other times yet, LOL. X) I'm working on it still yet. I really should post some of my things one here....

Your Name: Goatmon

How long have you been writing: Around 6th or 7th grade.

Have you taken any writing classes: Nothing other than "Introduction to College Writing" that I took a cuople times
back in Junior College.  I failed miserably, cause I suck ass at studying and paying attention. :x

What is your favorite thing to write: Anything involving Kevin.  (My avatar) :boogie
Seriously though, I love a good fantasy story, especially in RP.  I dislike writing about humans, for some reason.

What is your LEAST favorite thing to write: Homework.

What Is your favorite novel: Currently, it's "Starcraft: First Born" by Christie Golden.  Awesome story.

Who is your favourite author/poet: I really can't say.  My taste in things is so spread out that it's impossible to pick.  That and I don't care much for reading poetry.

Is Writing going to be in your future as a career: I certainly as hell hope so.

What's your favorite genre of writing:  Fantasy/Sci-Fi

Where do you get your inspiration: Everywhere and nowhere.  Honestly, my ideas come from wherever they decide to come from and I really have no say in the matter.  :<

Have you ever been paid to write: No, but a poem of mine was read by a teacher at my High School Graduation. :boogie

Is there anything you see yourself never writing: Horror.  My view on reality and what is and isn't scary is so warped compared to an ordinary person that I doubt I could ever come up with something really scary.

Anything else you want to say about your writing: Writing is, in my opinion, the most effective art form in existence.  With a novel or a short story you can create an entire reality, filled with it's own unique people and life.  You can take someone to anyplace you can think up, letting their own imagination paint  the setting.  It's my hope that someday I can do that; Come out with a story of my own that brings people together into a fantasy world of my own creation.

Anything else you want to say about your writing: My writing style is to think about the big stuff, think about the back-ground, think about the characters, think about the setting, and then fly at break-neck speeds while hoping not to hit a wall (and if I see a wall coming, pull a solution out of my ass).

It's 4:40am and I'm bored. So here I am in a forum section I'd never post in otherwise!

Your Name: Terry Bailey

Your Author Name: Janus

How long have you been writing: Since I could handle a pen or a computer, apparently. I was typing short stories on a Commodore Amiga 500 by age 10.

Have you taken any writing classes: None whatsoever.

If yes, what kind: N/A

What is your favorite thing to write: About my characters, to put it broadly.

What is your LEAST favorite thing to write: I do tend to flake at long combat scenes, so I keep those brief or ambigious.

What is your favorite novel: Too many different books to count, really.

Who is your favourite author/poet: I don't hold favourites in authorship. I like too many different things.

Is Writing going to be in your future as a career: My family seems to think so. To me it's just a highly entertaining hobby.

What's your favorite genre of writing: Science fiction just beats out fantasy in number of written stories, I believe.

Where do you get your inspiration: Everywhere. Myself, other people, random conversations, TV shows, you name it.

Have you ever been paid to write: I kept telling him I don't do commissions but Rusty once paid me $50 for a sequel to an old story. I still haven't written it, and we joke about it these days :b

Is there anything you see yourself never writing: Erotica. I experimented with one story and it was absolutely terrible to try and write. Never again.

Anything else you want to say about your writing: It'll probably never get posted in this forum because I'm too lazy to crosspost. Some people call me a genius or an excellent writer, I think they're full of hot air. Also, I never proofread my stuff when it's done, so typos often get through. Doesn't bother me though. I enjoy doing it and that's all that matters to me.

Since I could write, I had always been coming up with stories and little scenarios. My own writing got me started on drawing and (in some aspect) voice-acting. I wanted to see and hear my characters come to life.

Okay, I'm game. I'm actually hoping to put some ideas up for critiquing in the next week or so, so here I go...

Your Name: A.J.S. (My initials will do just fine)
Your Author Name (If you have one): Don't have one, but AJ sounds a lot cooler than the name I have...
How long have you been writing: Well, that's a toughie. I guess I had my earliest ideas back in second grade, but I never actually started writing them out until about sixth or seventh. And those early ideas shall never leave my head, comprende?
Have you taken any writing classes: Yes
If yes, what kind: Eh, basic stuff, really. I'm going to be taking most of my Creative Writing focused classes during my senior year here at my university, so I'd have a little more information to offer later.
What is your favorite thing to write: Fantasy. I love fantasy. I also have a few ideas for sci-fi up in my head, and a steampunk one, but most of my ideas are Fantasy. I also really like sitting down and designing the background elements for my stories: basic history, rules of magic, races, breeding, the characters and their histories...
What is your LEAST favorite thing to write: Hm, tough question. I'd have to say romance, since I tend to believe that all of that "love at first sight" jazz and the cheesy stuff in romance novels just doesn't feel right for some reason. Most of the romance in my books is more along the lines of "friendship that became something more," but I try not to overload my ideas with it.
What Is your favorite novel: Hm, either Witches Abroad or Hogfather.
Who is your favourite author/poet: Terry Pratchet.
Is Writing going to be in your future as a career: I really hope so.
What's your favorite genre of writing (poetry or prose, fiction or non-fiction, fantasy/romance/mystery etc.): Fantasy, though pretty much every idea of mine has some sci-fi elements in it.
Where do you get your inspiration: Mostly from my head. In all seriousness, a lot of my ideas are based on some kernel that gets stuck in my head and slowly builds up. I also have a certain desire to play the game by my rules, and not someone else's ideas (which is why my elves are all between three and four feet tall and Merlin considers himself a Witch! :mowhappy)
Have you ever been paid to write: Not yet.
Is there anything you see yourself never writing: Hm, I guess I'll never write a pure romance work. Also, I don't think I'm going to do anything erotic at any point: most of that stuff happens offscreen for a good reason (I've always believed that a thousand readers have thoughts a thousand times more kinky than I can imagine)
Anything else you want to say about your writing: I am obsessed with the rules of my worlds, and always need to know what can and cannot happen. Also, when I get focused, I can do a lot: one time, over the course of a day I came out with 17 pages of single-spaced size 12 text. Another time I sat down and ten minutes later had the basis for the rules of breeding between the various magical races and species all worked out. I guess you could say I'm a little weird.

Your Name: Preston Chapin

Your Author Name (If you have one): Well...my screen name is Elieana, though I doubt I'd ever use that as an author name ^^ So, no, I don't have one =D

How long have you been writing: I've ben writing (seriously anyway) for 7 years now.

Have you taken any writing classes: Well, back in school I took a special Creative Writing course that you had to be approved to be in... does that count? xD

Anything else you want to say about your writing: I absolutely love writing. If I hadn't have started writing, I probably wouldn't know where I want to go with my life. Currently, I have my career, schooling, and even how I'll search for publishers all planned out.

What is your LEAST favorite thing to write: Anything where I have to follow a formal setup like reports and such.

Where do you get your inspiration: For ideas, really anything that interests me will help me get an idea.  After that I would have to say most, if not all, of my inspiration comes from music.  I literally lay out soundtracks for my writings and play it all out in my mind like a movie and then put that to paper.

Have you ever been paid to write: No

Is there anything you see yourself never writing: Erotica.

Anything else you want to say about your writing: Nothing at this time.

Post by: Corgatha Taldorthar on December 10, 2008, 11:38:31 PM
Your Name: Adam. And no, you can't get the surname
Your Author Name : My own name is fine if I want to seriously publish something. For random internet blather I tend to use either Corgatha Taldorthar or Ur_Vile_Wedge
How long have you been writing: Since I was five. If you meant seriously, for about two years now
Have you taken any writing classes: Unless you count literature  and creative writing courses in college, no
If yes, what kind: See above
What is your favorite thing to write: Extraordinarily complicated, in depth worlds. I want to at least be able to give a 2 hour lecture at a university on the "history" of my creations, if someone were to offer that sort of thing. I also write complicated, conflicted, and psychologically tortured characters.
What is your LEAST favorite thing to write: Anything where all the plot and character mindsets are laid out for any idiot to see
What Is your favorite novel: The Illiad, if you count that. If epic poetry is out, I'd award the title to The Power that Preserves, by Stephen Donaldson.
Who is your favourite author/poet: Fyodor Dostoevsky
Is Writing going to be in your future as a career: I'd love to, but I don't think I have the talent to write professionally.
What's your favorite genre of writing (poetry or prose, fiction or non-fiction, fantasy/romance/mystery etc.):Prose, literature and fantasy are my two biggies
Where do you get your inspiration: Beats me.  Probably the same places I get my other thoughts.
Have you ever been paid to write: Little pamphlets and slogans and posters, never an article or a full length work
Is there anything you see yourself never writing: Poetry. My stuff is already twisted and impenetrable enough in prose, let alone if I decided to try my hand at verse and syllable counting.
Anything else you want to say about your writing: Uhm, that you should read it? Seriously,  I like to use a "fill in" method of writing, especially if I'm writing a series of short works. I'd write a politician getting in trouble with some scandal, skip scenes to his/her successor, and skip over the trial and media coverage, and leave it to the reader to infer what happened in between. It annoys a lot of people, but I like to do it anyway.

Who is your favourite author/poet: Tom Clancy, Douglas Addams, Michael Chrichton, Ben Bova
Is Writing going to be in your future as a career: It's possible, but unlikely.
What's your favorite genre of writing (poetry or prose, fiction or non-fiction, fantasy/romance/mystery etc.): Fiction of a Science persausion.
Where do you get your inspiration: My Afterburner equipped jet turbine of an imagination. NASA, Manga, Burt Rutan's SpaceshipOne, The US Navy, How It's Made, random artists.
Have you ever been paid to write: Yes.
Is there anything you see yourself never writing: I'd like to keep that to myself actually.

I figure I might be comfortable here.

Your name: I apologize, but I prefer my privacy when it comes to that.

What is your favorite thing to write: This actually varies, though I've been known to do horror, sci-fi, and more mild stuff.

What is your LEAST favorite thing to write: Alas, I'm not a fan of intense romance, nor that erotica stuff. I have my own reasons as to why.

What is your favorite novel(s): Let's see....'The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant the Unbeliever', The 'Dragonlance' series, The 'Spellsinger' series, and 'The Chronicles of Amber', just to name a few. Oh, and some 'Redwall', and 'Deathworld'...and 'So You Want To Be a Wizard'.  I could go on, but you'd get bored with the list.

Who is your favorite Author/Poet: Again, I could list, but I'll name one. Robert Asprin.

Is writing going to be in your future as a career: Right now, the chance seems 50/50.

What's your favorite genre of writing (poetry or prose, fiction or non-fiction, fantasy/romance/mystery etc.): Probably Fantasy, with a bit of science fiction into it.

Where do you get your inspiration: Books, music, and my imagination, I guess. I try not to copy ideas, however.

Have you ever been paid to write: Yes and no. Does it include getting a custom drawing for it?

Is there anything you see yourself never writing: To be honest...yes. As to what...You can ask me eventually.

Anything else you want to say about your writing: Say?!? I don't really think so...unless my stories are a little confusing at times...I'd rather see what you have to say about it.

Who is your favourite author/poet: Christopher Paolini (1), Patricia C. Wrede (2), and Anne McCaffrey (3 & 4).
Is Writing going to be in your future as a career: Depends on how that website of mine turns out.
What's your favorite genre of writing: Fiction, specifically Fantasy or Sci-Fi.
Where do you get your inspiration: It blindsides me from out of nowhere. Or, I see something good that someone else has done. (I'm still trying to figure out how Amber manages to go from serious to hilariously awkward in one panel or less...)
Have you ever been paid to write: Yes! A whopping 81 cents out of ad space on my site so far! (What's that? How much have I sunk into it? Uhm... About 100 times that so far or so? Hey, domain registration and initial web hosting got into the $40 range, and $5.75 or so monthly...)
Is there anything you see yourself never writing: A web novel. (Waaaaait a sec... 'Never' as in past or future tense?)
Anything else you want to say about your writing: For some reason, my perverted brain keeps pushing towards erotica, so it's a nearly-constant battle to keep it non-Nature Channel.

I do come up with various stories, but I don't necessarily write them down; just the information (character info, key vocab words, sample dialouge, etc) It mostly just stays in my own head for now, I don't know if that would make me a writer persay, but I'm gonna post this anyways, unless asked to otherwise........

:kirby Let's Rock this out now! (omg! bad pun! *hits self on head*)

Your Name: Classified for now, since I don't really know anyone closely enough yet, unless you recognize me from DeviantArt

Your Author Name (If you have one): My own name

How long have you been writing: Since I learned how to in school XD lol

Have you taken any writing classes: No, but I did take Story Development, which is kinda like a writing class for my career major.

If yes, what kind: It mostly went over how to improve adapting/altering an already exsisting piece, dialouge and organzing a story, kinda like an outline....

What is your favorite thing to write: Varies on the intial inspiration and my personal Rants

What is your LEAST favorite thing to write: Notes, it's so tedious......

What Is your favorite novel series: Harry Potter & Artemis Fowl!! Boys with glasses that deal with magic and fantasy!  :mowhappy

Who is your favourite author/poet: My sister!  :hug

Is Writing going to be in your future as a career: Definately, since my career is for Game Design, mainly in the developmental area; where I create the overall story concept for a game!  :3

What's your favorite genre of writing (poetry or prose, fiction or non-fiction, fantasy/romance/mystery etc.): Sci-fi, Romance (but not by itself other stuff mixed in), Adventure/Action and Fantasy

Where do you get your inspiration: Music mostly or I'll be inspired by a single exsisting thing and then it will change and transform into something new and original

Have you ever been paid to write: No, but I was a semi-finalists in a poetry contest, where I could have won some money; so that's kinda like getting paid  :mowhappy

Is there anything you see yourself never writing: Journalism...........bleh.

Anything else you want to say about your writing: I like to act out and do various voices (by myself of course) in order to act out a scene in order to make sure if that's how I want the story to go, or how I want the character's to develop. It may seem silly, but I find it very helpful, it's like I'm giving my characters there own little breath of life. I know that when I'm able to make my own ideas for video games, I would like to voice act several of the characters myself. Also, my various story concepts, span not just for video game ideas, but for manga or webcomic ideas as well. Sadly however, I'm not that good artistically, no matter how hard I practice........ :cry
