Well...that was somewhat anti-climactic. I guess Biggs realized Desatnia could punt him in about fifty different ways, so it was best not to argue. :giggle

Chya, no kidding.
Wow, someone's fast with the new comic topic... :3
Not every exit has to end climactically...that's one thing to like about it, refusing to be the cliche. But I do find it funny that Biggs forgot about the whole daughter thing so quickly. He must've used that "dispose" line a thousand times.
But wait, there's still the Dan part of the story...unless that gets its own arc.

Yeah, but this arc's good that way. Just when you think something will end well, something goes and happens.
If Biggs forgot that so quickly, does he still remember that Dan's a girl? Will he forget it in the near future? Will I stop asking questions? :U

That is very true!!! That could go anywhere.
Biggs is a pawn. He is doing exactly what someone else wants him to do.
He is just too arrogant and or stupid to realize it.
Well..Poor Biggs got shot down by his target AND his employee. He has less power than he thought and, to paraphrase 'I better blow something up to make up for this' :D
Rats, I rather wanted to learn more about the Twinks. Kinda curious about how that got translated to the more serious furrae. Still say Biggs is now awesome, forgetfulness and all.

since when are the twinks/ Noob's not a walking joke?
I really like the spine that Dee has grown.
(Hmmm, that's not in my idiom...and I don't feel like speculating...how about story mechanics?)
What was the point of this part of the storyarc? Why couldn't we just hit the reset button and act as if nothing happened?
1.) Now we know that Dee and Biggs are working together
2.) Dee seems to have the upper hand
3.) Dee can't go back to LL because of the (unspecified) trouble that she would cause
4.) We know that there's something that went on between Dee and Abel
One of these things will be important later.

Interestingly, I don't think she specified where the trouble would be.
Perhaps if she went back, Biggs would be toppled? Hmmm.....
It seems that Biggs is the very forgetful type. He has made an idiot of himself in all of the recent comics. And yay to Desti for quiet intimidation!
Well now, that was interesting, and not all that surprising, all things considered. So now what happens when Pyro and friends arrive?
personality though surprised i liked that why her mom can brings Biggs bad down to earth with a simple clearing of her throat.
Alexsi you idiot! Never cut off important infolike that! -kirby PISTOOL- :kirby
Soooooo... Like I said, the twinks are a joke. Destania is probably the only person or thing there that could actually cause any significant damage if given the chance.
An idea occurred to me when reading this post: What if Pyroduck walked in and said "Hi, I'm here to rescue Alexi." and Destania recognized him as a dragon and a potential threat to her and her children. :giggle

And one last point: considering that Alexi didn't question about Dee's choice of employment, how much does Alexi know? And how is this related to Dee's absence from Lost Lake?

I don't know about that...
``only person or thing there that could actually cause any significant damage'' *on purpose*, maybe. Twinks can cause major damage. Take, for example, the terms slashdotted and Farked.
Quote from: Psaakyrn on December 05, 2006, 10:50:56 PMAnd one last point: considering that Alexi didn't question about Dee's choice of employment, how much does Alexi know? And how is this related to Dee's absence from Lost Lake?
Hmmm. They may have discussed it between 704 and 712. We know that they went from discussing Lost Lake's visit to Dan at SAIA. It may not be important that we know why Dee works for Biggs, and not showing the discussion may be the best way of dealing with it (``The reason why I'm working for Biggs is''[shock cut!] might be too obvious).
Also, we know that Abel thinks that dragons are bad for Dan, but we don't know if that is the case or if they're bad for Alexsi, as well.
Abel also doesn't think that dragons are bad for Aary. ``No way she'd let a dragon go NEAR DAN (http://www.missmab.com/Comics/Vol_685.php).'' Technically, we don't even know of that meeting ever happened, or if Pyro were lying.
Which would be interesting if these are lies, and Pyro knows them and is going along with them for some reason.
It's the daughter thing. :3
Whha? Za? Well that was indeed a big waste..But then again..It might not be "that" easy...
"Bad Biggs! No disposing of the stepdaughter!"
That's what I think from the fourth panel...
I wouldn't say it was a TOTAL waste. After all, it led to the discovery that Pyro's a dragon.
Actually it's not a waste at all. We were introduced to present-time Destania, got to see Dan both as Alexsi and as Danielle *shudder*, got to see what Merlitz's old crew was up to, and now we'll probably get to see Wildy near-kill Biggs for edging in on her turf again.
Generally speaking, this is the point in most musicals that things start to really go haywire...
Oh, TCM, why do you hold me spellbound so? :<
quick correction: link to the comic should be http://www.otterdude.com/ instead of http://www.otterdude.com/" else you get a 404 not found :3
Well, it looks like we're getting a good idea of who the real power behind the throne is. The question is, to what ends?
I'm just suffering from many plot-twists and more and more dramatic moments that go on for months in a different web-comic right now so I have to say that a simple but efficient resolution of a storyline is a very welome change of pace for me right now.
Since the story was quite enjoyable up to now and the end was quite enjoyable too I do not and will not think it was a pointless story!
Always dangerous to have a servant stronger than you.
Releasing Alexsi is not going to save Biggs from his sister... something to look forward to :)
I wonder if Destania is feeding on the disposals. :<
sometimes there are situations where you think "Who's in charge here?"
Like in this situation for instance.
Though Biggs runs the place it looks like Destania is actually in charge.
With a simple clearing of her throat Biggs's personality did a complete 180. At first he looked aragant, and bossy, after Destania cleared her throat he was chipper and kind.
So that leaves the obvious statement.
Though Biggs is the figurehead Destania is the true power and controler of Twinx Territories.

I Destina is in charge of Twinks Territory. If she killed Biggs off then she will have to contend to the residents of the Twinks with a civil war and she will have to fight them all and her sister Wildly with that bloody vengeance and stuff like that. That's why she is keeping Biggs alive and stupid not knowing the real situation.
Never get between a mother and her child...
aww... now I'll never see Pyro rescing Alexi all knight-in-shining-armor like.
On the other hand... I look forward to whatever deviation will arise directly from an early release. The rescue party missing the fair maiden? Said fair maiden reaching the Inn to witness her brother performing an act she does not approve of?
A lot can be said for the road not taken.
I hope nothing happens, the interview goes as planned, and we get on with the other plots, that have more to do with the story.

Biggs hardly strikes me as a knight. And Pyro's dragon form seems not to have ANY clothes, much less a shining armor... unless his scales count ;)

Yeah. Biggs is all hunched over, crowded out by word balloons. His lower lip seems to be pouting or quivering. He's rubbing his chin. His left arm is away from the body to provide greater balance. His eyebrows are raised.
His eyes and pupils are open wide to let in the most light so that he can see any potential threats clearly.

Alright, so how do you think the interview will end? Climatic or anti-Climatic?
Why do so many people think that just because a person is stronger than his employer, that employee must take over?
Destania may be able to replace Biggs anytime she wants, but why would she want to? He's her boss! You don't do that to your boss! It just wouldn't be right! Besides, she would never find an emoployer again And considering her long lifetime I think ruling Twink Territorries for her whole life would not be a dream-job!
Likewise, just like there are some things you just don't do to your employer, there are some things you just don't ask of your employee. Like to dispose of their daughters. This is what Destania makes so clear to Biggs in such a quiet and yet efficient manner!
PS: I'm afraid I had to look up the word "ingrate". I wonder if Biggs read that sentence somewhere and liked it so much that he used it ever sincce. I wonder how often Dee had already the opportunity to feed on the pain and terror of ungrateful people...

Indeed. She's had plenty of opportunity, but she hasn't done it so far, although given Biggs' immediate turnaround and the rather scared expression in the last frame, I'd say she's made it quite clear what will happen if he steps out of line.
Quoteconsidering her long lifetime I think ruling Twink Territorries for her whole life would not be a dream-job!
If she quietly topped Biggs and assumed his form, she would have to step down as 'Biggs' at some point since he's mortal.
As for why she's doing this at all, I still think she's doing some kind of damage-limitation to keep the Twinks in line, and as Llearch suggests, it might be the reason she can't return to LL yet.

I think you're underestimating Biggs. He might not be able to take Destania in a fight, but that doesn't mean
(a) he doesn't have some hold on her
(b) he's not the one making the decisions
(c) she could ever do his job in a million years
He's probably sort of like Dr. Jyrras, only with twinks instead of mad scientist-type inventions.
...which immediately makes him but a thug. Jyrras does not even need to be evil, and his power can be calculated and controlled. Now...
I am very much familiar with the strategy of the powerful one or the one with the advantage taking a step back and acting only to influence and guide events from behind the stage, so to speak, but... What does Destania want with the Twinks? What could she possibly want? As much as power and influence count, I do not think that she has any use of such an organization, but that they would only be a burden for her, or a dangerously unstable factor in carefully laid plans. That is how I would view them anyhow, and I would thus either distance myself from them, or work to destroy them. Indeed, Destania may be doing just this, but if Biggs is saying that they have actually made progress lately... she's not doing a very good job.
Oh, and I don't think he would taste all that well, Charline. Besides, who are you going to abuse when you have nothing to do?
Quote from: Stygian on December 06, 2006, 02:19:51 PMif Biggs is saying that they have actually made progress lately... she's not doing a very good job.
The best type of deception is one where the mark believes that he's making progress. And now that we see Dee with an attitude, I'm more inclined to believe that that's her plan. It's just too queer to see a 7000 year-old succubus with an obsequious demeanor, and Biggs would have twigged to the charade long ago.
As to what she wants, she's looking for Edward, and what with all the kidnappings, she's sure to get some information from far-flung locales.
(I think I mentioned this before)
See, here what I see is gonna happen, Alexsi goes free as Mab and company show up, Alexsi explains the situation, Wildy throttle Biggs, they go home. They get back to LL to find it completely alright and the interview went completely perfect. Just as Alexsi is complimenting Dan on pulling it off without catching anything on fire or blowing anything up, Merlitz' old crew attacks the real Alexsi after being convinced by Gen to do so.

The reporter turns out to be a Dragon who wants to kill Dan, and the others will only arrive during the climatic showdown that will eventually trigger the Grand Cubi/Dragon War. It will also be revealed that Alexsi is being held captive at SAIA ever since Dan got Fi. Fa'Lina has been impersonating Alexsi since then and thus arranged the interview in order to trigger the Grand War.

One cannot rely on people that way. One must
use them to be a genuine power. Biggs apparrently does not, unless he has been very intensely studying magic when not observed. And while 'social skills' are easily learned or acted, and quite useful in their own right, they do not give direct power and cannot be used as an emergency plan.

And of course Gandhi didn't have power; the Indian people did. Influence is one thing, and power another. Celebrities for example, have influence. Yet the richest people in the world, or the ones best at what they do, or the ones who are simply powerful in themselves, remain hidden from public view to great extent.
