Title: 9-5-2007 - [815] - Super Mab!

Well... what color should her costume be?

The "M" is so perfect. :)

``...and stuff'' is probably not the best phrase to use when apologizing to people.

(I'm in one of my moods, so this is probably all you'll hear from me about this strip.)

One of the things Peter F Hamilton was very good at doing with the Night's Dawn trilogy was following the exploits of a particular character (and he had LOTS of characters in that series).

Then, when something incredible or emotionally-engaging (or all too often, incredibly emotionally-engaging) happens he switches to another character, at which point you're thinking "No!  I wanna know what happens next with Joshua, I don't care about Dr. Mzu...".  Then a few chapters later, he suddenly switches back again, and you're thinking "No!  I wanna know what happens next with Mzu, I don't care about Josh- no, wait, yes I do!"

That's not something I'd come across before - not to that degree, anyway.  Amber seems to be giving him a run for his money though :P

I guess Jyrras took on the role of the nice-and-trusty phone booth!

I think Jy-jy would be a totally cute sidekick though. Yup eyup! Mab can use a "straight man" to bounce her superheroine-y quips off of!

It's in your blood, Jy-jy! Follow your instincts, my friend!

when I hit the link to load the comic up, I had a Gaim window and a Quicktime window over the browser window, so the top of the comic was obscured.

Thus, I saw the bottom part of the comic first... and wondered why in the world Mab was flying off naked!!!

Mad:  "I do agree with Jyrras on this one, though a single color leotard costume for Mab is really not her MO.  I was expecting something a little more stylish and she doesn't have the superhero mask on."

Jade:  "That's true.  She's not wearing a mask, now all those she vanquishes and brings to justice will know who she is and might try to exact revenge on her and her friends... most might be safe but Jyrras, the basement rats and a few of the non fighters could be in danger."

Mad: *sighs* "Jade your only concerned with her secret Identity?"

Jade: *bounces and smiles*  "Super heroins are fun."  *grabs shirt sleeve and pulls it towards the camera.  A black unitard with white flames covers my body and the mask covers my entire face*  "The heroin of Truth, Pizza, Justice, Soda, Honor, Popcorn and Nachos has arrived."  *Flies off followed by a trail of sparkling white flames*

This is for everyone.
Jade was a character I created as the daughter of my main character.  Even though I created her years ago it's still fun to have her show up every now and then.

Somehow, the line "You knew the job was dangerous when you took it, Fred" comes to mind when considering Jyrras as a sidekick.

Well Amver, you've done it. You started the whole big thing with Jyrras, then switched to Dan and Abel, wrenching our hearts and emotions. Then, just when things were getting to the the way with Dan as they were for you, you drag us back, wrenching our guts straigh out of our bodies. Now I don't know which one I want more: Dan finished up or Jyrras finished up. Well played, Miss Mab. Well played.

(Oh and BTW, about your rant, don't worry about it. Someone needed help, and you were there for them. There's nothing wrong with that. You just take it easy and gently slide back into your normal update schedule)

Let's not forget the other dangling plots that can be switched to in a moment's notice:  The dragons and Destania, What Wildy's Doing Now, Kria and Lorenda, The Creature Council, and random goings on at Lost Lake that Amber could throw in to frustrate all her readers further.  Cuz Amber is evil.

Just as a reminder, Lorenda is with Jyrass right now. It's understandably easy to forget at the moment as she is just walking around deer in the headlights style and missing from 75% of the strips, but she got off the evelvator with Mab on the 14th floor... (http://www.missmab.com/Comics/Vol_806.php) You can just barely see her behind Mab in the first frame, and she is obvious in the last.

Now THAT is something someone should draw.

How about "Fantastic Fae"

With regard to her style of clothing, I assume that most people have realized by now that Mab's dress was backless (http://www.missmab.com/Comics/Vol_802.php).  This meant that her superhero costume had to be backless (http://www.missmab.com/) or it wouldn't have been covered by the dress.  If you blow up the image of her flying off, you can see that the front is still covered by the orange costume.  Also note that the orange scarf used with her dress is designed to cover the neck strap for her superhero costume.

I also wonder what Jyrras is thinking when he gets the close-up of Mab's bosom.  Could he be thinking of what happened to item in Nutmeg's bosom (http://www.missmab.com/Comics/Vol_789.php).

One of the few things I wouldn't expect from Amber is a fighter using the Kekko Kamen (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kekko_Kamen) style of fighting.

Also, The Mab knows what lurks in the shadows. Hugs! D:<

X-ray glasses, duh.  Since he doesn't really need them anyways, might as well add some cool features.us  :p
I would also like to point out that his glasses quite obviously fly off his face when Mab attackhugs him

I guess this is proof I've been playing with computer graphics for too long.  I simply assumed the material had the "two-sided" flag turned to "off," so it only appears when viewed from the visible side.

Really improves render time.  Especially for non-transparent materials.(transparent materials don't occlude anything, so your DOC algorithms throw their hands up in defeat.)

Yeah, but a Moebius suit would be funnier though.

Oh, come on.  Isn't it obvious that her tail (being the fluffiest in all of Faedom) is simply hiding the back of her suit?  I would think that would be clear to anyone who knows the mechanics of concealment!

are you talking about the Mab dress, or the Super Mab uniform?  I was talking about the big, purple dress.

Super-Mab uniform.  I thought that was what we were talking about, since it's pretty obvious (to me at least) that Jy couldn't see through her dress, he's just not surprised that Mab has a superhero costume under it.  Except for the color, he was not expecting orange.

And again,
"Here I come, to save the day!
Mighty Mab is on her way!"

Ah.  See, that's the point, is we were wondering about the possibility that Jy-Jy could see out from under that dress.  Swimsuits' sidedness doesn't really matter, as only one side is ever visible at a time, anyway.

As Llearch said, though, still not something you want to put on inside-out.

I vote that if Mab were to wear a purple suit it would look like she were nude, where as if certain people were to wear the paler shades of orange than they would appear nude out of the corner of the eye.

I however, personally, would only have been suprized if Mab had decided to wear green instead.

Orange does seem to go pretty well with it.  Yellow, too, done right.  White shares a spot with it in a lot of Christmas decorations.

It's not that hard to work with, actually.

Yellow is the complimentary colour of purple (supposedly), but any of it's family will work. Blues, greens...
And depending on what shade of purple you have, you can use either black or white.

As for black, the question was about clashing, and technically although they work, black and any bright colour will clash. Such as... hot pink and black. Awesome together, but only because they're so different.

What if I experiment getting purple paint and mix it with other colors and get a result that purple could mutate to some other color. To that extent I don't know I'm just babbling here.
