Of the ones listed, dawn of sorrow is my fave. I've played the double pack (HOTD and AOS) and that one, as well as COTM, but haven't gotten portrait of ruin yet.

DoS was okay. I dunno that I'd go so far as brilliant.

CotM was a far better game for the Castleroid sub-genre.

I absolutely love CastleRoids, and after i couldn't get past level 2 of Castlevania 1, i gave up on the originals.
