I think he just insulted his house's ruling seat. An interesting thing here is that they share a very close feature in the eye despite him being called a servant. I'm thinking despite the servant indication, Gavin might be related to Winter in some way.
I actually find the proportions of the head house seated Winter and Summer to be very interesting. Slender and elegant, tall and opposing, it gives them both a beautiful and dangerous air about them. It seems everything about them seems to be a presentation of just how much their greater then everything else.
Their certainly well drawn for this story.
